I absolutely adore this place. In fact I wish I could move in there the food is so good! Cornbread, sweet potato fries, beef brisket. You just have to. And as for the cocktails... I'd spend my month's salary in there if it wasn't for bills. Love it love it love it!

A week end in London and my yelp elite friend took me to this restaurant in London for brunch! Such a good idea! First of all its in Brixton, the area of London that became the hipster place to be! The restaurant is 5 mins walk from the Brixton tube station so easy to access. You get in, seems a bit dark at the first sight especially when it's really sunny outside. We were seating really comfortably in a booth. I ordered the crab cakes and eggs while the others had the American breakfast, huevos rancheros or burgers. Except the fact that mine was a bit too salty everyone was happy with their food. I finished my brunch with some pancakes, not the best I had in London but it was ok. The bill was around £20 each so not too bad for a brunch in London and definately a brunch to try if you are in the area!

Visiting London and was taken here to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had the Wings and things platter which was great and enough to share with the four of us. Our main entree consisted of ribs, gumbo and jambalaya. We also ordered a couple cornbread on the side with honey butter. Everyone enjoyed their food. Friendly staff and great vibes. A definite must try.

Came here on Tuesday night to enjoy some bites and blues. Overall, it was a lovely time! I am pregnant and they were able to make me a mocktail (which you surprisingly don't find everywhere). The appetizers were fine - I prefer spinach and artichoke dip to be a bit cheesier with chunky artichokes than what theirs was (that's just a personal preference though, it was still good!) the cheeseburger was pretty good as well! The live music is fun and the atmosphere is really great!

Came here for pre-theater anniversary dinner with my wife. The ambiance was somewhere between that of a trendy club and nice bar. There was a mad scientist vibe with the lights being industrial vibe and some metal decor. The music was thumpy and loud enough to remind you it was there. It made me feel a bit out-of-place as somebody well past my 20s, but also a bit cool or being there. You really come here for the drinks. We got the pipe dream, smokey old fashioned, honeypot picante, and one other I can't remember the name of, but which came in a flower pot. The pipe dream and smokey old fashioned were likely the best. Overall the drinks were more visually appealing than traditionally good and the visually appealing ones tended to have ingredients that weren't as top shelf and/or they were just too sweet. Not bad, but disappointing for what we'd hope. The food was the opposite. I had low expectations and the food wasn't amazing, but was better than average. We got the bao buns, crispy duck pancakes, panko halloumi, katsu curry, and hot honey pork tacos. They arranged for it all to come out in time for us to make our theater show, which was nice. The bao buns and pork tacos were probably the best. Neither blew me away, but both were solid. The katsu curry and halloumi were standard of what you might expect. The crispy duck pancakes was maybe as advertised, but it would have been nice to have some moistness or substance to the dug vs. it basically being crunchy salty bits of something. Overall, this wasn't a bad meal, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for either. We may be back, but we'll probably try other things first.

WOW, this place is delicious!…read more Our family stopped in London for the last part of our cruise. After touring St. Paul's Cathedral, we were pretty hungry. We found The Fat Bear via Yelp!, and decided to give it a try. There were so many things on the menu that looked really good, but I had been craving chicken and waffles. The waffles were crisp on the outside, and fluffy on the inside -- the chicken, cooked perfectly, too. The syrup they serve it with is incredible. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you are in London! Carson C. Visalia, California

I wanted something with at least one good veggie option, they wanted something with meat, and it had to be somewhere in-between Camden and Canary Wharf, not too pricey, and ideally close to the city because otherwise our Italian friend probably wouldn't make it. And lo and behold.... THE FAT BEAR!!! It was all we wanted and more! This place is sort of tucked away and up some stairs above a pub. It's really just a room and a half, which makes it super cozy and they have a pretty awesome looking bar. It's got warm lighting which makes the atmosphere really nice. Their cocktails were delightful and the service was excellent. I will make a very strange observation that someone working there had a very drunk friend who just sort of made herself at home. Then more joined and it turned into me watching this table of really really drunk people trying to order food. Two of them ended up just falling asleep. It was super strange. Anyway, me being distracted aside, I really loved the cocktail I ordered- Sloe Boat To China, and everyone else seemed happy with theirs. I was dying to try the pimiento cheese starter and the fried pickles. The cheese was particularly sharp and delicious. The pickles were good, but quite skinny (I mean come on, you're in an American restaurant I was expecting some serious pickles). The vegan gumbo was super spicy and delicious. I was impressed and enjoyed it. My husband dropped the ball and ordered the regular jambalaya (with sausage) rather than the seafood one which broke my heart a little bit, because I really wanted to try it. You know, I guess that means we'll just have to come back. Oh also another bonus, this place has brisket which is really hard to find. I can't say how it tastes but my friend said he defo approves (am I becoming more British with these words, or just more annoying?) Anyway, to finish it off I had the oreo cheesecake which the bomb. I love oreos. And it tasted like oreo. So all was right with the world. A wonderful place to come if you have people who want to try American food, or if you have out of town Americans who are too scared to try other food, or if you have hungry friends that want to try cajun food, or if you just want to try some really yummy food.

My partner and I visited on New Years Eve. I'm not sure if this is always the case, but the music playing was primarily American rock - like The Eagles, Neil Young, etc. It's fine, but not very in line with the classic, upscale feel. The bartending staff was top notch. I had a martini and my partner had a house Manhattan, both were perfect. We shared the iceberg wedge to start, a personal favorite, and this one was spot on. Great bleu cheese dressing, still warm lardons, and crispy, fresh iceberg lettuce. For mains, I ordered the aged Irish ribeye and chose to have it "gorgonzola encrusted". This was the first misstep. First of all, the grass fed beef stands on its own, I would never choose to add a sauce, but this was encrusted, right? Not so much. Here's the definition of encrusted from the Oxford dictionary: "Covered or decorated with a HARD surface layer". What I received was a steak smothered in (a very lovely) gorgonzola SAUCE with some bacon and spring onions. Had I known it was a sauce, I would have skipped it, or at the very least had it served on the side. Slightly disappointing, but the steak was perfectly medium rare and delicious. My partner ordered the hake. It was served with a prawn and a very tasty tarragon pesto. She said the pesto was the star. The fish was delicate and also well prepared. We shared sauteed spinach and roasted mushrooms, both delicious. For dessert we shared the banana and toffee mousse. This was the second misstep. This was a tasty dessert, but it was definitely not mousse. It was a very small sliver of banana bread (?). It had strong banana flavor and was served with rum raisin ice cream which was nice. It was also thankfully a very small portion as we were stuffed. Overall, a very decadent and elegant meal to ring in the new year!

I made a reservation online with Seven Rooms. The address is in the business' name. To get to this restaurant you can take the Piccadilly line and exit Piccadilly Circus and it's less than a 10 minutes walk over. We headed to the area a little early to explore Piccadilly Circus and Fortnum and Mason next door. Upon entering, there is a coat check that can take our outerwear or backpacks. The card they gave us for our belongings were really fancy. Then we were seating at a cozy half booth. Since we knew what we wanted, we were able to quickly order when our server came around to take our orders. We wanted the Beef Wellington for 2 (£99.50) that comes with sides of Dauphinoise Potatoes and Green Beans in Peppercorn Sauce. We were surprised to be told it would be a 40 minutes wait time for the Beef Wellington due to the tableside sauce making, and it seemed like only one person was performing this task. We got some bread to start, but I didn't want to eat too much cause it would ruin my appetite for the main attraction. I also ordered a glass of Massale Pinot Noir (£15.25) and asked that it would be brought out when the food was ready. When the food was finally ready the tableside service was a fun show. All the ingredients were premeasured for the tableside chef, and he showed us every single ingredient he put it. Then he skillfully cut up the wellington without cracking or denting the crust. He mentioned starting out in pastry so he has some moves. The meal was a fantastic treat and the sides were much appreciated. The dauphinoise potatoes and green beans paired well with the wellington. The beef was cooked perfectly medium rare and evenly. The whole experience was definitely a treat. I would recommend it if you're looking to try a beef wellington... After experiencing the Sunday Roast in London, I would say the Sunday Roast experience was less expensive for equivalent or greater enjoyment. Nevertheless this is one of the better value establishments if you are looked specifically for a beef wellington experience.

There was a waitress who showed us each ingredient she used to make the sauce for our Beef Wellington. At the end she flambayed our sauce and we poured it on the Wellington. I didn't really feel like it added anything significant in flavor to it. The restaurant is nice and I agree with other critiques; you can go in casual but you're better off dressing nicely. I would definitely eat there again. They had a delicious potato augratin and garlic green beans.
