We had walked past during the day and when I read the sign that they have blues and bourbon, it was decided we would visit for dinner. And glad we did. Inside you find a cool lights low environment with blues music playing (of course) along with an excellent selection of drinks and food. I had the beef brisket and it was good. I've found another one of my achilles heel in Brix. The place is airy with diner-like booths for your group(no jukebox I'm afraid). The cocktail bar is immense and the waitresses can't do enough for you. Food-wise, put it this way: 6 ladies that hadn't seen each other for months, meet for an overdue catch up. They talk non - stop and have so much to say they forget to order food. They finally do. The food comes, they take pictures, Their first bite and then, something crazy happens...silence. I mean silence till the plates were clean. The brunch food is simply GOOD. Fluffy pancakes. Runny yolks. Cruchy sweet potato fries and crab cakes, outta this galaxy bacon. I mean GOOD. Only low mark was my berry n peanut butter smoothie that came warm despite apparently having crushed ice. Overall you've got a friend in me! 8/10 read more

A week end in London and my yelp elite friend took me to this restaurant in London for brunch! Such a good idea! First of all its in Brixton, the area of London that became the hipster place to be! The restaurant is 5 mins walk from the Brixton tube station so easy to access. You get in, seems a bit dark at the first sight especially when it's really sunny outside. We were seating really comfortably in a booth. I ordered the crab cakes and eggs while the others had the American breakfast, huevos rancheros or burgers. Except the fact that mine was a bit too salty everyone was happy with their food. I finished my brunch with some pancakes, not the best I had in London but it was ok. The bill was around £20 each so not too bad for a brunch in London and definately a brunch to try if you are in the area! read more

Live music. Great cocktails, cool vibe, friendly staff. If highly recommend this BBQ joint, and I can't wait to come back again. Tried 4 cocktails: the burnt pear old fashioned, the strawberry basil, the rhubarb sour, and the sazerac - all tasty and spot on. Had the spinach dip as a starter and ordered the brisket and burnt ends for the main. In the states this place would have sold out the brisket in the first hour the restaurant was open and felt lucky to order it towards the end of the night. Did not disappoint and worth the wait. The bar staff and front end staff all very friendly and provide me and my mates great service. 5 stars. read more

Visiting London and was taken here to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had the Wings and things platter which was great and enough to share with the four of us. Our main entree consisted of ribs, gumbo and jambalaya. We also ordered a couple cornbread on the side with honey butter. Everyone enjoyed their food. Friendly staff and great vibes. Really enjoyed this bar/club and that is a big thing for me as I've seemingly aged 30 years in the last 12 months. I very rarely enjoy busy bars with not much room to move but Blue Kitchen has a nice vibe to it! Beers were decently priced and a Bottle of Big Wave cost me about £4 or so - a good point about it being in Brixton and not Soho etc. Cocktails too were not over priced, a regular G & T hovering around the £5-6 mark. I had a few thats why I can't remember the exact price ;) During the day and evening I believe they serve up some good dishes but we only visited after the watershed. read more

Great venue with live music. My main reason for visiting at least once a week are their milkshakes, which are some of the best in all the city. Try the chocolate peanut butter or vanilla Oreo. They are big, served in nice cold metal containers and are thick. I've eaten their friend chicken, and their gumbo, both of which were good. Staff are nice and you are well looked after here. We were asked multiple times of we were alright or needed anything else. I'll be back every week as long as they keep their milkshakes just as good! read more

Came here on Tuesday night to enjoy some bites and blues. Overall, it was a lovely time! I am pregnant and they were able to make me a mocktail (which you surprisingly don't find everywhere). The appetizers were fine - I prefer spinach and artichoke dip to be a bit cheesier with chunky artichokes than what theirs was (that's just a personal preference though, it was still good!) the cheeseburger was pretty good as well! I really want to give this like 3.5.... Growing up in the American South I am very opinionated about my food being recreated elsewhere. That being said this is a decent try, if not over priced for what it is. This is a new location in Brixton, I have not been to others, which has a fun old bar vibe and high bar stool seating. There is live music every night, but the night we went it felt more like a club than a music venue, with the musicians complaining about the fog machines... I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip which was decent if the scrips were not a bit stale. I prefer dip like this to be chunky and not so blended. It tasted great, but not my preference. As for the fried chicken I ordered I thought it was good, but I think a breast should at least come with it. I prefer a bit thicker batter. I loved having so many BBQ sauces to pick from, with the mustard one my favorite as the main house one was too sweet and runny for me. I will come back for brunch sometime and test it then. But for the amount I spent I was not overly satisfied with my meal! read more

I couldn't be more impressed with this place! A group of friends and myself came here on a very busy evening, and booked a table an hour ahead, since that was the earliest available, and went to go have drinks. Our table ended up being 20 minutes late, and for this frustration, we were given a free round of drinks and 50% off our meal. The food was delicious, I had the cheese burger with bacon and a side of onion rings, and enjoyed it so much! The ambience is vibey, and fun, but also quite cosy, with the booth set up - especially when you have a large group of friends. Despite them being very busy, the food came quickly and the waiter was very good. The combination of amazing service and amazing food, means I will definitely be back when I'm in London again! read more

Came to see a band upstairs. The place was packed and unfortunately, felt very much more Claphamesque than Brixton. Crowd was definitely more mainstream than other places in the area. £5 pints were expensive enough! read more

We visited early on a Friday night and we were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was (the crowds appeared just as we were leaving). The menu is extensive and delicious (hello alcoholic milkshakes). The atmosphere is funky and the staff were great, lots of banter! Looking forward to checking out the Shoreditch and Camden branches. read more

Went for late night dinner here last night. We had made a reservations but it did'nt seem necessary. There was live music for about ten minutes but then the musicians went home. I had burnt ends, and my friend had chicken wings, which she found to be spicier than she had expected. All the food was delicious but I especially liked the the sweet potato chips. We are visiting London from the US and were excited to try their special Thanksgiving dinner. The food, service, and entertainment exceeded all expectations. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The southern-style fried turkey was succulent and not greasy; the portions were huge, and even taking half home we were stuffed to the gills. The live entertainment was spectacular, as the band performed a set of blues, Motown and popular hits. Truly a fantastic experience. We will definitely return again before we leave London. read more

Walked in the place and fell in love. The atmosphere is incredible. Music is always great, food is mouth watering and service is spectacular! Its almost like you become friends with the staff. Not just your server but everyone who passes makes sure you're okay and if you need anything they are all ready and willing to assist you. I love BBQ and seek it out all over the states. Yelped up Blues Kitchen while in London and now love the place. A real pro staff from security who sorted us out of the line waiting to go upstairs for live music to the bartender offering samples so I could select a beer I liked; to the hostess who found us a table one busy Saturday night even without a reservation. She actually came and found us in the bar crowd. The manager talked with us all night, provided free use of the coat room for the music venue upstairs. I know BBQ and the brisket was juicy and tender with the right amount of smoke like you only find in Austin. The free music upstairs was a bonus, they were playing soul covers and had talent and energy, the crowd was friendly. I always look for "local talent" and this place has it.
