I've only been coming here for a few months cause i lived on the other side and would go there to a diff place, but I've had a great experience here so far. One thing I really appreciate is that they're open later than a lot of other places, which makes it much easier to fit into my schedule. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They take the time to thoroughly explain the different options and products without being pushy. The salon is clean, well maintained, and has a welcoming atmosphere. Music is perfect. Been going to The Body Bakery for years. It's convenient for me to go there because it's close to my house - i can even walk there. :) They are located in a very nice shopping plaza, Tarzana Square so that is another thing that I took into consideration. Also the staff of girls are adorable & that means a-lot to me when i do business with anyone or anyplace. Aside from all that, their tanning beds are the bomb! I get so many compliments on my tan & i owe it all to The Body Bakery. They sell awesome lotions too! My favorite tanning lotion i bought from them is The Sunset Strip brand so keep that in mind if you want a deep dark savage tan like mine! read more

I canceled my monthly membership and continued to get charged. I've only had wonderful experiences with the former manager Elaine so I went in person hopeful and understanding of their mistake as I know staff transitions can be difficult. I informed the front desk person of the issue, stating I canceled the service, didn't get charged the month after but then continued to randomly get charged every other month. She checked the system and confirmed the sporadic charges. She stated she doesn't have the authority to refund but will call for help. She called the new manager who said they can't refund me because I don't have any "documentation" proving I canceled the service. After a confusing back and forth, the front desk person called to the manager again who stated she will call me when she's back in store - she never did. Four days has gone by and I still haven't heard back. They refused to refund me as I didn't have "documentation" proving I canceled, but during that same visit when the front desk person allegedly "officially" canceled my membership, she still didn't provide me any paperwork, proving their excuse that they supposedly provide documentation and require them for proof was just a lie to get out of taking accountability and refunding my money. I'm not sure if this is just poor management or blatant scam. I do not recommend this place since they've gone under new management after experiencing how they handle mistakes and deal with reoccurring customers. There are plenty of other tanning salons in the area. Save yourself the headache. read more

I've been coming to this salon for years and have always appreciated the clean space and how friendly most of the staff are. But I had a recent experience that left me feeling pretty uncomfortable. When I came in for my usual tan, I waited at the front desk longer than normal without so much as a "Hi" or "I'll be right with you." The girl working (I believe her name is Steph, long dark pony tail, maybe Italian?) was chatting with another customer, which I understand happens, but as someone who's worked in sales and customer service for a long time, I know how important it is to at least acknowledge someone waiting. What really rubbed me the wrong way was what I overheard. She told the customer that she was out of tans but she can give her free tans if she buys with her today. That shocked me. I knew Vivian personally and she always made it clear the salon only ran two promotions a year(Black Friday and Memorial Day). Hearing someone offer freebies outside of that felt wrong and honestly disrespectful to the other girls who work there, who have always been kind and professional, no matter how much a customer spends. I've never been offered anything extra by this employee, and I've been a loyal customer for a long time. She's also never made much of an effort to get to know me, maybe because I use the lower-level beds. But I truly believe every customer should be treated with the same care, regardless of how much they're spending. This is still a great salon, and I'll continue to support it. I just hope the sense of fairness and integrity that Vivian built it on stays consistent across the board. read more

The Body Bakery is simply THE BEST. I was told about this salon thru a friend who goes there religiously for her Red Light Therapy. One session and I was hooked - now I too am there almost 5 times a week for "me time". And by that, I don't mean just for the red light treatment - I go because everyone who works there I now consider a part of a family. The entire staff is SO nice and accommodating. We often will sit and talk before or after a session, just to catch up. As far as the Red Light Therapy, I'm a convert - while I tend to be a little skeptical of alternative medicine treatments, even as a yogi, I can assuredly say it WORKS! I originally started going to help the appearance of a scar I had on my face - that has dramatically improved in a short period of time. I also feel less aches and tension in my body - it improves your mood, relaxes you when you're stressed, or gives you energy when you feel fatigued. The gals who helped schedule me were awesome at handling a logistical situation with great communication and were very accommodating. Shayna here is AMAZING. I'm from out of town and was getting breakfast when I saw this spot close by and decided to stop in. I was immediately greeted with a huge smile and warm hello. I'm used to tanning at a level 4 for 8 minutes but hadn't been tanning in a little while. Shayna took a minute to look at my skin, asked me a few questions, and provided me phenomenal guidance for the tan I wanted. The mists every few minutes were nice too :) I decided on the level 5 bed for 7 minutes. My glow on the outside now matches the glow I feel on the inside. My friend and I had gotten spray tans earlier this week on Saturday for a vacation, we had been given the instructions for the machine and the after care, we even bought their body wash that was oil and sulfate free, we were never told we couldn't go into a pool or anything while they were aware we were going on a vacation. We have been following the after care and using the body wash whenever we shower, today (Wednesday) we went to the pool, all of our tan had washed off. Not only had it basically washed completely off it left our skin looking so blotchy and patchy. The tan was nice before that but it just seems like something you should tell your clients when you know they're going on a vacation and most people are getting spray tans for vacations. read more
