Hannum House is right next door to the lovely Sherwood Inn where we dined one night and had breakfast every morning. Nestled in the heart of Skaneateles, there's plenty to do if you venture around town too.

As I walked into the Sherwood Inn (next door and where you check in), I was greeted with a, "Hi Mr. Gates, welcome back, it is nice to see you. Your room is ready. Do you want me to walk you over?" Mind you, my wife and I are retired teachers and not high rollers, but are treated like millionaires every time we go there. We next had a spectacular lunch at the Sherwood Inn, again treated like we were the most important people in the world. After lunch, we moved in to our room. It is without a doubt, the most gorgeous room we have ever stayed in. Everything, including a spectacular bathroom is world class. Our stay was wonderful, made so nice by Sherwood Inn workers. A special shout-out to Chad, Robin, the breakfast crew, and all the ladies at the front-desk. We certainly will return to our favorite place!

The Isabel room is so roomy and timely with all the modern conveniences. Each room has it's own heating a cooling system. The bathroom was incredibly spacious. Soft bathrobes are available for your use. I stayed two days and the breakfast was so huge the first morning, I had to ask to halve the amount the next day. Roselea and Joe were warm and gracious hosts. In an area lacking comfortable places to stay, The Roselea is a jewel.

The decor was nicely done and the room was stocked with everything we needed. The pool is very nice as well. Overall, the resort was quiet and the staff was super friendly. The breakfast was OUTSTANDING. I don't know that I've ever had a better breakfast anywhere else. My only wish was that the chairs outside the Seneca room were Adirondacks rather than metal chairs with cushions. It rained quite a bit, but when it wasn't raining, we were unable to sit on them because the cushions were wet. Overall, I highly recommend this B&B for a great location and experience!

We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast and weren't sure what to expect. This place exceeded our expectations. The mansion itself is beautiful. Every time we walked around the house we discovered more treasures, everything from the molding to antique pieces. The property has a lovely view of the Erie Canal. Each morning there was coffee waiting or us outside our door on a beautifully arranged tray. Then we went down to breakfast. I hate to repeat myself but the table was also beautifully arranged. We tried several different dishes during our stay, each one delicious. Our host, John and Rebecca, were there for our every need, without being intrusive. After running around all day It was so relaxing to return to our room each night. We asked several relatives to stop by and see the place. Our Aunt was thrilled as she had driven by hundreds of times and never been inside. She was not disappointed. One extra point. They have a friendly dog named Riley who helped us forget how much we missed our own pets. We plan to return here each time we return to Syracuse.

I wouldn't have been opposed to this though because I wanted to thank her! Katie, our host, created an incredible breakfast bar. There was Oui yogurt, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, cheese, a variety of cereal, oatmeal, milk, orange juice, coffee, and tea. She had also generously stocked cookies from a bakery, granola bars, bags of nuts, biscotti, and other easy-to-grab snacks. Our suite was beautiful. My pictures don't really do it justice, but there were two chairs, a drawer, table, and a TV in one side, and everything we needed for a bedroom on the other. Katie also provided luxurious bathrobes and luxury shampoo and conditioner (TeaTree). We also had access to the dining room and living room, which made it feel like we had a home away from home. One of my favorite parts of the house though was the front porch, which contained two swings and two chairs. I loved starting my morning on the covered porch and will have a hard time leaving that behind. The location is incredible, allowing us to walk to the lake, restaurants, and any shops we wanted to visit. Katie was the perfect host. The decor was stunning and our experience couldn't have been better.

We were on a fast trip for a wedding and allowed us only to spend two nights at 34 State. We so appreciated Katie & Jack's kindness, hospitality and helpfulness. Not to mention getting kisses from their beautiful lab, Oakley. We stayed in the elegant Barrow Suite. It's on the second floor as is their other suite, but they are working on a suite on the first floor for those with problems walking up stairs. Continental breakfast awaited us every morning as a fridge stocked with yogurt, fresh fruit, beer and many more items. I commented they were out of water and upon our return, not only was the fridge fully restocked, but a note with a special touch was provided. It is within walking distance to downtown Skaneateles without staying right in the middle of the main road. There is a big dinning room and living room, along with a beautiful porch with a swing to spend the afternoons drinking a cocktail. They attend to every need you may have i.e. reservations to restaurants and will follow up with restaurant to make sure you had a great experience and the best table. We look forward to our next trip and without a doubt where we will stay!

We went as a group of 4 for my sister's 30th birthday. While the rooms were very nice and the staff…read morewere friendly, the resort is very spaced out and there aren't actually any staff in the hotel buildings themselves so if anything was needed we had to call to have it brought to us instead of just asking at a front desk. This happened when the bottle of wine my brother in law ordered for our room for my sister's birthday was no there and we waited about an hour before it was finally brought over. Then came our spa experience: I am currently going through cancer treatments and filled out my medical form at least a week in advance and at the time of making my reservation a month ago and it was not until I got into the room for my treatment that I was told that they weren't able to accommodate me for it. I wouldn't have minded picking something different if I knew this before hand but I did not. The tech offered a facial instead which was actually really nice and relaxing, but significantly more expensive the treatment I had originally selected and they were going to charge me the price of the facial instead. They did end up changing the price to match the original treatment but that was after I had asked and explained the situation. Then my sisters treatment (the birthday girl) was "running behind" and they kept pushing the treatment back by 5 mins for a good 30 mins. We explained that we had reservations at the 1833 Restaurant and were afraid of missing it due to her treatment being 80 mins long. They called the restaurant and let them know for us. Come to find out that they took another person with the same name in place of my sister and when my sisters time came they were no longer able to accommodate an 80 min treatment so she had to get a 50 minute treatment. They did apologize profusely and gifted my sister some spa products but it did not make for a very relaxing experience and was definitely not the experience we wanted to have that day. THEN CAME THE RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE! We were able to make our reservation just 15 mins late, and at first the service was fine, they even brought us extra bread after we raved about how good it was. My sister has a severe shellfish allergy along with a dairy intolerance and we informed them of this before we even ordered. Some how the staff thought this meant she was allergic to gluten and brought her out gluten free bread. We explained again the seriousness of her shellfish allergy and the dairy intolerance, they still kept trying to offer her gluten free bread throughout the meal. The meals itself were good, my pork chop was very thick and the middle of it was pretty undercooked which I would have pointed out to the waiter if he came at all during our meal but he did not. Once we were finished with our meal we waited for over 45 mins for our bills after we went to the host table to ask because we kept trying to flag down someone to get our bills and then another 15 mins for the waiter to run our credit card. About an hour later my sister broke out in hives and was up vomiting during the night which makes us believe there was some type of cross contamination. Overall, we didn't have a very great experience. It was not the relaxation and peaceful experience that we all hoped it would have been, especially given how much we paid for everything.
