Wow - I am so glad I came here today! The interior has been majorly redone within the last few months with an annex added for board games and trinkets. Most all of the books were in great condition and most that I looked at were new. There were also new releases, posters, and most every genre including a great selection of manga. I happily signed up for the rewards program with the incredibly kind and helpful cashier. Will definitely come back here after I finish the book I bought here, Where the Crawdads Sing! read more

I think my family may be smitten with The Book Rack. The owner Scott greeted us with a warm and enthusiastic welcome. Upon inquiring if we were looking for any book in particular, we informed him we were looking for a book that will be required reading for my oldest son's school. One of the young associates quickly helped us find what we were looking for. We also learned that books for school purposes are 10% off. Scott then walked around the store helping my husband and son find books. (I was busy making sure my youngest didn't destroy any books.) Not sure if Scott's help was a good thing. Okay... It was. It just encouraged my husband and son to purchase more books. They both had lots of fun talking about books/authors with Scott. Scott's approach to customer service is so refreshing. He is well read. He then uses that knowledge to make recommendations to his customers. It doesn't come off as pushy. It comes off more like a librarian trying to introduce someone to a new world. The Book Rack is comprised of a combination of new and gently used books. Books are not purchased for cash. Store credit is offered. That credit may then be used for up to 50% of your purchase price. As Scott said, "we have to keep the lights on." Don't see what you are looking for? New books may be ordered for customers. Rather than ordering the required book off of Amazon, I am so glad we ventured in to The Book Rack. Excellent little shop that strikes a nice balance between mass market paperbacks and some middle and highbrow stuff. I've found everything from a pretty comprehensive German language book of fairy tales to some long out-of-print works by science fiction titans like Joe Haldeman. They're more liberal with store credit for trade-ins than most shops, which, by their nature, have to be somewhat chintzy in what they're willing to pay for used books. I went here initially because I was forced by the exigencies of Covid, like long wait times for delivery by mail (especially internationally) and the closures of libraries. But the place is charming enough that I'll be returning there regardless of whether or not supply chains return to normal. And if they should break down entirely, I've already got a healthy stockpile of well-priced books for the apocalypse. Staff is friendly and helpful, and the shop is located in a little strip mall where some other convenient shopping can be knocked out. To wit, there's a couple of health food stores, a bakery, and even a place where one can get singing lessons. You can get your books, your glutton-free muffins, and work on your mezzo soprano scales all in the same quarter-mile radius. Consolidate all of these places under one aegis and Jeff Bezos will have some serious competition. read more

Best Feature: Great little bookstore with used books! Love the trade in option. Worst Feature: ------ I've been here several times, a few times growing up at their previous location and recently at their newer(ish) one. When I was a kid, my mom would bring me here so we could trade in old books for "new" used books. It's a really nice place if you're looking to save money and get some enjoyment out of previously owned books. I love it, to be honest. Every time I'm in, the staff has been very friendly and always makes sure to ask if I'm looking for anything. I like the fact they work hard to keep it organized by genre and often have various sales on the already discounted books. It's a really neat place that is easily overlooked being part of the several "strip"-type store setups, but if you're a book lover who doesn't mind a well-worn cover, it's worth a stop in. I was an avid reader growing up, so this was definitely one of my favorite places to discover new books to read. It's not a huge bookstore, but it's definitely got a lot of charm and a LOT of books to choose from - from the well-known authors to the obscure ones. Between the discounted books and the friendly staff, this is a great bookstore and the fact you can trade in your own books that you might not read anymore for some new ones is great! This cute little used bookstore offers something for everyone. Located back in a shopping center on Beechmont, you wouldn't normally notice it driving by. The store is sectioned off into genres of books. I must say that they have particularly large sections of science fiction and romance. I wonder why... They also have decent sized sections for westerns (they had to drag me out of this section), bestsellers, new books, classics, and children's books. The children's section wasn't at all substantial. The store accepts trade ins on books so you can get a new book for each book you bring in. You can even rent books from the store. I've never heard of that before! They are open seven days a week so you'll never miss an edition of "Hard and Fast". I'm not kidding I actually saw that title in the romance section. read more

The Book Rack in the Crossings of Anderson is a cute little bookstore I recently visited. I noticed thousands of paperbacks, although they do have some newer hardcover books, and you can actually rent the new books for a week for just $3. The majority of their books are used, which thus means lower prices. They have novels of all genres and types (and for all ages) from the top and most popular authors, but they also have a ton of lesser known books that are worth checking out considering the lower prices. I noticed about 12 different sections--or at least 12 different shelving areas--in the small store, each of which had its orange bookshelves covered with books. Most of the little areas had a chair, but I don't really see people stopping in and reading like you would at a nice and cozy Barnes & Noble. The staff was friendly although I was just browsing at the time and didn't see much that caught my eye. A sign in the window indicated that The Book Rack was voted "Best Used Bookstore" in the city by Cincinnati Magazine. Half Price Books is good and much larger, but I guess the smaller, neighborhood feel of The Book Rack is part of its appeal. read more

I like this bookstore as a place to find unique books and cool finds. I love having a local bookstore to go to. They ladies in there are always helpful and kind, and are very kind to my children when I bring them with me. However, when they buy books from you they give you store credit. And then when you go to use that store credit to buy a book, you can only use it to pay for 50% of your purchase. I wish I was able to use it to pay for an entire purchase. But I get that that need to make money. Overall, a good local store that I enjoy frequenting. read more

The Book Rack is a sweet little bookshop that could probably fit in most 2-car garages. You might easily miss it if you don't know where to look. Lots of surrounding trees partially hide the strip mall that The Book Rack calls home. Once you enter, you'll realize that the place has lots of used books for sale, despite its small size. Prices amount to half the cover price on most books in the store. I was impressed with the selection. My wife was able to find a series of books she loved growing up that she thought she'd never see again. If I had to change one thing, it would be signage on the aisles. It took me a couple minutes to figure out what was where. I've had nothing but pleasant conversations with the employees that work here. read more

I have been a big fan of this store for about 6 years now and am never disappointed. They have a great selection excellent prices and a very friendly staff. If you are looking for some particular book that they don't have they will go out of their way to order it for you. They also give a better trade in rate and have better pricing than larger stores of this type. As far as prices go Half Price Books doesn't even compare! When shopping for books bigger isn't always better. read more
