"Still round the corner there may wait / A new road or a secret gate" -- Bilbo, The Fellowship of the Ring. 100% love this little coffee shop book store and bar! I had a nice tasty iced coffee (vanilla/caramel) with a shot of bourbon. My fiancée and snuggled up on a little love seat while enjoying our drinks. They had a nice collection of books ranging from romance, fiction, fantasy etc. on social media you can see when they are doing DnD nights, movie nights, and more. The owner and staff working were very accommodating and pleasant. The atmosphere is adventurous and cozy. Overall, just a great experience and look forward to coming out on a movie night. The owner shared that they do like to show local productions. Can't wait and highly recommend folks to go out and support! read more

What a cool bookstore! They sell mostly used books, but also have a selection of new titles. It's very dark, moody and gives off all kinds of vibes inside. Attached to the bookstore is a little cafe, where you can go back into the bookstore through the wardrobe (aka the door to Narnia). I loved this nod to one of my favorite book series growing up! read more

Walked in on a Friday afternoon with a bustling city center around! Lots of runners, kids and families, so this book shop and cafe is in a great location. The cafe has beverages of all kinds and pastries. The book store is decorated so cute and has a wide variety of new and used books. There's a few tables and a shelf of games for folks wanting to play. Overall a great environment. read more

Very unique set up. Nice selection and appeared to be almost all used books. Prices were high though especially since many of these books appeared to be from the local library sales and were probably no more that $1 or $2 dollars, the store was selling them for $8 and up. There is a bar available as well as a cafe. Cute concept but again a little pricey for used books. read more

Delightful bookstore and incredible little coffee spot. I know there's a few coffee options in the area but THIS is the one to go to! While the bookstore may seem a bit small the selection is great. The staff are all wonderful as well. Ft Thomas is lucky to have a place like this. read more

Such a cool bookstore & cafe! I asked the barista for a latte recommendation and ended up with the Darnell Delight (which tasted like a blueberry donut and was delicious). I highly recommend to anyone looking for unique coffee with fair pricing. read more

We visited for the first time to attend a friend's book signing event and we will definitely be back! The coffee shop/bar is absolutely adorable. The drinks were delicious - we both got special iced beverages - and the staff was friendly. The "doorway" through to the bookstore section was literally a wardrobe Book selection was vast and they have both new and used books available. Love that they have signings for local authors. We absolutely loved the store and cannot wait to go back. read more

I could not love this place more! The owners are warm and welcoming and the decor is cozy but slightly edgy. I'm always amazed by how affordable every book I've ever bought here has been. The new cafe is a fabulous addition and I look forward to many happy hours here. I love, love, love the armoire doors that lead from the cafe to the bookstore and if my mid century house only had a place for something like that, I would absolutely steal this idea. Great place. The owners were very helpful finding books for my son's 11th birthday. The shop is beautiful and gives off Harry Potter vibes. It is intimate and comfortable. I could spend all day in here with a cup of coffee from the espresso bar. It's very clean & inviting. read more

Eh, we crossed the licking to check this place out... and well, for me a bit disappointing. No welcome greeting, just young adults sitting around chatting challenging each other with world trivia. I asked about the "coffee" as listed and or posted "no coffee" and "it's done" one employee was nice enough to tell me the coffee hours ... they told me that I could order something off the alcohol menu, ok ... hot coffee whiskey? Nope. No coffee. He's done with coffee. After I politely thanked them they continued to talk about coffee is done, I "could" make coffee but no. I'm not. Cool story bro. Thanks for making me feel weird coming to your sipping book store clearly ADVERTISED as having coffee. I suspect more introverted coffee sipping adhd'ers come out to the book store that offers coffee because it calms us the F down, even puts us to sleep, imagine ? Reasons us introverts don't venture out. Hey- they told me to check out the cafe on the other side hahahahahahhahahaahahhaha CLOSED no coffee effers hit up florence for the Barnes and Noble, cake pops noted. If you're a Christian, it may make you a little uncomfortable with the witchcraft, cult titles and tarot reading events. This is the coziest little bookstore and such a gem that I recommend everyone to check out!!! They have such a wide selection of books with new releases and also many used books so it's easy to find something that you're looking for. They also offer a drink selection of wine, beer, and liquor in case you want to get a drink while you browse or stay awhile especially since they stay open late on Friday and Saturday until 10PM. Truly perfect for some weekend reading as I was looking for a cozy and quiet setting to read while I drink some wine and there's plenty of comfy seating inside including by a fake fireplace. The owners were so friendly and they also seem to host some events and have a book club if that's also something you're interested in. I'll definitely have to come back as they really curated a neat little place! read more

AMAZING! I'm a student at the nearby middle school, and I LOVE this place! It's so kid friendly, has their own kids section! They have books for all ages (mostly teenage & young adults tho), and the staff is SOOOOO kind! They're really great! The cafe is amazing too! You can read AND eat! The books are affordable, and the place is SO inclusive! My new favorite bookstore, the aesthetic is top-notch, the best!!! read more

I like this bookstore for a good little family owned business. I will admit that the books are very niche with a few similar genres mainly focused on. But if you like those themes then this is the place to go. There are chairs to sit in an read with very intriguing surroundings. Not to mention a full bar. I absolutely love this bookstore. I originally discovered it after signing up for one of their sip and paint events, and I had an incredible time. Before the painting started, I took some time to wander around the shop and browse the books. The owner actually came up and struck up a conversation with me about what I was looking at, and we ended up chatting about books and shared interests for a bit. He was genuinely kind and welcoming, which really stood out. One of the things I ended up buying was a special edition of a book I had been wanting for a while. I was happy to finally get it here, especially knowing my purchase was supporting a small business. The bookstore also opens into a café, which was a really nice surprise. They offer vegan options, making it an easy place to settle in and stay a while. As for the sip and paint, there was a small bar set up, and I ordered a glass of wine. The event included two complimentary drinks, which made the whole experience even more fun. I had such a great time painting, and I still have my little artwork as a favorite memory from the night. They host this event regularly, and after talking with the owner, I learned they also put on other events like book release parties and similar gatherings. It's such a warm, community focused space, and I can't recommend it enough. read more

In addition to books, they also have journals and journaling accessories, puzzles, kitchen supplies, hats, stickers, earrings, reading glasses, candles, and "blind date with a book" options, along with T-shirts and greeting cards. The store is two stories and is very cozy. They also have a great kids' section. The staff are really friendly and open to giving recommendations or just chatting. They also host monthly events which are posted in the store as well as on their Instagram, if you're looking to get more involved in the local community!

The ambiance and overall atmosphere is the first thing you notice when you step inside. The more time you spend here the more you see how well loved this bookstore is not only by their staff but by it's surrounding community. On the wall there was also a list of events the store puts together such as writing classes, book clubs, etc. They also had blind date with a book and a free spin for a book recommendation section if you were having trouble selecting or finding a book that matches your vibes. Book prices are pretty standard compared to other book stores. Definitely will be coming back again.

Enter through the narrow storefront to a bright, deep space filled with a well-curated book…read moreselection. The philosophy section, for example, contains actual philosophical works -- from Hume, Nietzsche, the stoics and others. The shop dog wasn't there when I visited. I was told that she was working from home, and that's "her choice."

This is a beautiful, light and color filled local bookstore with an exciting selection of adult…read morefiction and nonfiction and a small YA section. There is a used book section in the back with some great deals! I loved the handwritten recommendations from Joy and Matt on the shelves and the warm welcome we received when we came in! It's also across the street from the library for all your nerdy book needs.

This sweet little book spot is nestled off the main drag in Northside. There are a variety of books…read moreto browse. There is a small corner of children's books, puzzles, notecards, stickers and more. While it is a small space they stock single copies so there is so much in their small space. They can also order books you are looking for. Loved finding a special signed copy of a book sold only in indie stores! The employee was helpful and conversational while we checked out. Also, who doesn't love a free bookmark with purchase!?

Instead I was left feeling as if I was contributing to fascist mediocrity by daring enter the store. Other than that I loved the place. Somewhere I can come to find something obscure, or some of my favorite foreign authors translated into English. Small eclectic selection of books that are priced in a way to encourage the growth of your personal library. Maybe the staff just aren't morning people?
