There are even chairs here and there to relax on. The lower level nonfiction wasn't very impressive but I'll be back to check out the classics. (It was too crowded to go in on this Saturday.) It is a GREAT used bookstore and would be so in any city. + Handsome--hardwood floors and copious natural light + Four floors of stock + Tidy and well organized + Exceptional variety of subjects and genres + All books in good condition or better (most better) + Staggeringly low prices (to a Chicagoan) + LPs and DVDs Plus, they are operated by the Central Arkansas Library System, so I hope and assume that proceeds from the store benefit the libraries, which is always awesome. On top of all that, I finally found a book here for which I had been searching through dozens of bookstores in several cities for over a year. And although I would have happily taken a shabby paperback, what I found was a boxed, cloth-bound Library of America edition, including several of the author's other works--FOR ONLY SIX DOLLARS! These books include busty characters and sexually suggestive titles. I spoke to manager Nicholas and he said the books were placed in that location because it was near the rest of the Manga. The regular Manga were on shelves in the aisle while the sexual books are sitting out in the open directly in front of the children's area. When I asked Nicholas if he seen a problem with that he said "that's just where we have them". The proximity of these books near an area that will attract children is disturbing and irresponsible on the manager or whoever put up this display.

The shop is tiny, but it's crammed full of every kind of stone and crystal you can imagine. There's rough stones, carved images, jewelry quality stones and specimens of all kinds. When stepping inside, you can instantly see the rich heritage of this landmark location and the patrons that have long frequented it. I was on a specific hunt for a few vintage records and was very impressed with their selection and organization. The owner was more than helpful and friendly. One of the best parts of the experience was the transaction. I had five records and the owner gave me a very reasonable price. I appreciated the informality of the pricing and the long-forgotten feeling of what it is like to buy from an indecently owned business.
