A great used book store. Very well organized, the staff is extremely friendly, and the prices are fair. I do recommend.

Old school bookstore with some of the best staff on the planet. Wish I had the cash to buy this when it changed hands again.

The Deep (at their previous location) was my weekly comic shop when I lived in Huntsville 20 years…read moreago (groan). We were in town for a concert and to meet up with some friends and it happened to be "Free Comic Book Day" and we had time to kill, so we stopped at some local shops including the Deep at their new location. They had all the goodies for giveaways-- who can beat 3 free comics plus another 5 freebies if you make a purchase? The companies (Marvel, DC, and the indies) made a good show of rolling out freebies to give readers a sample of current offerings and hopefully they roped in some new readers. It was nice to see The Deep still has a swath of back issues, I was able to cross several titles off my never-ending search list as I poked around the store. They still have a wall of new releases, a ton of games and figures, etc. It was also very cool to see such a wide diversity of readership, people of all ages and backgrounds grabbing up new releases and picking up pull lists. Not sure if ownership has changed in the past decade or more or if it's more to do with the changing vibes of the subculture itself becoming more mainstream and accessible, but it just felt overall more "welcoming" and open than ever before so that anyone can find the book they're looking for and get into comics. Very cool. Plenty of parking. Appreciated the additional 20% off of purchases for the comic book day, and back issue prices are fair--more expensive than some, far cheaper than others.

I love this place, and always will. Been a customer for 20 years. As a tabletop gamer, they have…read moreevery that I need. D&D, board games, Warhammer, TCG's, etc. Their comic selection is outstanding. Just a generally great place to shop. They also have gaming to join, upstairs.

NOT, I repeat, NOT worth your gas money in an attempt to sell OR get store 'credit' for your books…read more I had read that they only give $.50 on the dollar. I went up on Amazon, found the USED price for each book, cut that in half...and, took $120 worth of books in for sale. Their OFFER was $4 cash and about $6 in-store credit. If you have the time and energy, go up on E-Bay and find your same books that have SOLD, and deduct them off on your taxes. E-Bay is considered FMV for your items. Otherwise, take them to your local library (Friends of the Library Store - a 501(c)3 or Thrift Store. The worst practice of this store is that they make you an offer...and, if you don't respond in 24hrs, it goes to in-store credit. Laughable if you're selling -just another gimmick to KEEP your books for their own profit. Even if you accepted their offer, you have to come IN-PERSON as the e-mail/text does NOT contain the offer. Again, a gimmick to KEEP your books for THEIR profit.

We recently took over $500 (used) books into 2nd and Charles and they said they would text and…read moreemail us once the books were evaluated. I just called since we had not heard from them and they said they finished the evaluation on 5/30 (day after we took the books in) and they said since we didn't respond they gave us store credit of $57.00 and the cash price would have been $27.00. There were books worth over $100 used and they were going to give us only .25 per book. This is a ripe off. It might be a good place to buy books but don't sell your books to them.
