We decided to stay local this Record Store Day, an event each year where artists release exclusive,…read morecollector vinyl that can only be purchased in local record shops. For this event, the store was open with extended hours starting at 8am. We arrived early to have a good spot in line with other record connoisseurs. Upon opening, the staff came out to welcome everyone who had waited hours for opening and thanked each of us. When we got inside, my dad and I were able to browse through the RSD collections in nicely alphabetized bins. The event was nicely organized and patrons were filed in calmly and quickly. We were able to get everything we had hoped to purchase for RSD-- and more. It was truly such a great time, and my dad and I enjoyed making memories at this event together. While inside, we had the honor of talking to Charlie behind the counter. He is truly the face of Variety Records making us feel welcome, sharing his knowledge for not only Vinyl but the ins-and-outs of Record Store Day, and managing to still converse with each customer during what I would assume to be their busiest day of the year. He was fabulous and even remembered us the next time we came in the shop. They have a wide variety of new, used, and new-vintage vinyl records and cds. We left with seven albums combined and both found things we were excited to listen to. We will be back soon!

The first time I shopped the manager lied to me about some random deals they had and said they would give me like 40% off if I signed up for like these three promotions they had. They told me the second I left the store I could cancel all these promotions with no problem! Well they lied one of them was easy to cancel and the other two took me about two weeks to get canceled. When I went back into the store and brought this up they lied to my face saying they had no clue it would take that long. My friend who purchased with me that day ended up returning her items and they were so rude. The manager kept pushing that she should exchange them and refused to give her the full amount that she payed back to her even tho she had her receipt and they were all unopened brand new items. She ended up getting such anxiety from the guy that she just took what he could get and left. The last time I shopped there my same friend called the store to ask if they had a certain item in stock! The associate on the phone was beyond rude to her. She asked if they had it and his response was " yes they release today" she then just wanting to confirm that the item was in the store on the shelf asked " okay! So it's on the actual shelf in stock? " the guy responded " yeah I just said that " and continued to go off about how customers never listen to anything he says. She proceeded to tell him that was a bit rude she was just asking a question and hung up. When we arrived at the store the manager was out stocking items he came out with a huge box and threw it down on the floor right next to my friend and gave her a glare. Also while I was just looking at the pops he came up right behind me and I mean like where I could feel his breath on the back of my neck and yelled "excuse me" I legit screamed because it scared me so much and he just walked off. When I finally checked out the manager tried to force the sales on me again and when I said no his whole demeanor changed slamming my item on the counter and not speaking to me again even when I said "thank you so much!" After paying. Honestly idk who let these people run this store but it's the most rude customer service I've ever seen and that's coming from someone who works in customer service myself. Idk who peed in these guys Cheerios but if you are looking for a good experience shopping wise you damn well won't find it here. I say stay clear.

Next to these two stickers was a third sticker that stated "Complete set of 4 $160". As I checked out at the front of the store, I wanted to make sure that the vendor was getting paid what they were owed. I didn't bargain down or argue for the $40, I made sure the cashier knew that there were two conflicting prices and that I didn't want to shortchange the vendor. Upon first asking if the $40 was the correct price, she stated loud and rudely, "IT SAYS SPECIAL FOR FOURTY DOLLARS." This was all she spoke while making direct and antagonizing eye contact. I acknowledged her words gently and kindly, that I indeed saw that sticker but also noticed that there was a conflicting price tag NEXT to the $40 one. The more expensive price was not crossed out or written over, they were listed next to each other. What I didn't say, but was hoping to clarify, was whether the store was okay being on the hook for the extra $120 if they were only going to charge me $40. The cashier simply repeated the same words, louder this time, and very condescending in her tone and manner, "IT SAYS SPECIAL FOR FOURTY DOLLARS" and pointed to the sticker to make her point even clearer. She said nothing else. I paid without further comment. As she bagged up the four prints, she included the additional document with the price stickers on it. I inquired if she wanted to keep the ADDITIONAL document with the price tags and booth label (for her records), making sure she didn't slip it in by mistake. Her tone, still very loud and now even more condescending, resounded as she said, "I WON'T BE REMOVING THOSE STICKERS BECAUSE THEY WILL DAMAGE THE PAPER." I wasn't asking her for a lesson on how adhesive works, I was simply trying to allow her the opportunity to keep the documentation for the vendor and the store to prove that she charged me for the discounted price. I've grown up in antique stores. My grandmother and mother both currently own/have owned their own antique establishments, so I'm familiar with the protocol. Maybe their protocol is different. My bad. I did not respond further and took the bag gently from her hands. It could have been the simplest and most pleasant interaction though. "Oh I see that there are two conflicting prices here. Let me call the vendor and verify that this one is correct." Or perhaps "We are told to take the lowest price listed on each product, so I can guarantee this is the correct price. Thanks for the concern though! I appreciate you looking out for the vendor!" Something, ANYTHING, more pleasant in terms of tone and word choice, would have been a better experience. I have also been in her shoes. I have worked in marketing and customer service for the past 20 years. I have worked a front desk, many, many times. I have been a cashier. I have been the rep who answered tweets at 11pm where a customer needed toilet paper sent to their hotel room. I know what it's like to deal with belligerent , arrogant people, with people who actively try to make your life a living hell because you work behind a desk, behind a screen, behind a uniform. That was NOT my intention, and that's what I think stung the most. In being kind, in being thorough, I was treated with contempt. Maybe she was having a bad day. Maybe I caught her in a moment where she had just dealt with someone difficult and assumed I was the same. There are a number of reasons why this transaction was so unpleasant. "Give her some grace!", the masses might cry. And I might agree with you. Normally, I would. But she was old enough to know better. The job she holds is not one that is difficult to execute, nor difficult to execute PROPERLY. Maybe I'm making a mountain out of a molehill. Maybe I shouldn't have let this seemingly small incident make such a huge impact. Or maybe, just maybe, this could've turned out so drastically different if this young woman had exercised the bare minimum and just been kind to me in return.

It also stated it had a "60 Day Warranty" and no where did it state repairs only NO REFUNDS. I am a single working mother with 2 sons who have blood diseases and after speaking with Al over the phone found a person to pay and have the set picked up. When the pickup person arrived he entered the store asked Mrs. Peters (Manager) for Al and she stated "right over there." The washer tub has numerous rust spots and clothes have been damaged. I called and spoke with Al and asked for a refund and he stated "no refunds only repairs" and I stated that was not stated in the ad and he agreed that it was not. He offered to come to my home and change out the tub and again I requested my $$ back and that the ad needed to be clear in reference to a "60 Day Warranty". He at which time stated "it was not a good time for him to speak and that he was hanging up." I called him back and asked again for a refund and he stated no again and claimed he almost ran into something talking on the phone with me. I told him I would not call again but rather have legal contact him. Next, I called and spoke with Elizabeth Peters (Manager) of Advent Thrift and explained to her my circumstances, she indicated that he was leasing space and that she had not seen the ad. She wanted to call him and offered to call me back. I received a return call from her and she stated "He offered to repair the tub so leave me out of it." I am competing paperwork and filing a small claims judgement against Al. To protest not having the terms honored is worth the $78 plus $20 to have a sheriff serve the judgement/paperwork. Always keep receipts and take a screenshot of ads...I am so glad I did!! On the receipt, he had another opportunity to write "no refunds only repairs"...but he did not. Advent Thrift need to require leaser's to have insurance and state clearly they are a separate entity. They may be liable also.

This is the place to go to in Huntsville for your new and used vinyl needs! They always have a good selection of both music and new & used phono equipment. The owners Andy and Ashley are very friendly and approachable...they are very active in the local music scene and always eager to offer excellent music recommendations. With a recent move (a few doors down from their old location), it's safe to say they have really built something special here. The space alone is a must see. When you hear someone say "buy local" - this place immediately comes to mind....supporting a good local business that offers charm, character, and service you just can't get at a big box store. We were in town for a concert and to meet up with some friends and it happened to be "Free Comic Book Day" and we had time to kill, so we stopped at some local shops including the Deep at their new location. They had all the goodies for giveaways-- who can beat 3 free comics plus another 5 freebies if you make a purchase? The companies (Marvel, DC, and the indies) made a good show of rolling out freebies to give readers a sample of current offerings and hopefully they roped in some new readers. It was nice to see The Deep still has a swath of back issues, I was able to cross several titles off my never-ending search list as I poked around the store. They still have a wall of new releases, a ton of games and figures, etc. It was also very cool to see such a wide diversity of readership, people of all ages and backgrounds grabbing up new releases and picking up pull lists. Not sure if ownership has changed in the past decade or more or if it's more to do with the changing vibes of the subculture itself becoming more mainstream and accessible, but it just felt overall more "welcoming" and open than ever before so that anyone can find the book they're looking for and get into comics. Very cool. Plenty of parking. Appreciated the additional 20% off of purchases for the comic book day, and back issue prices are fair--more expensive than some, far cheaper than others.

They have carts for you to use to offload items from your car and helpful staff who will help you offload your donated items and provide you with a tax receipt. I'm usually in a rush when I drop donations off here and have yet to shop in a The Saving Way Thrift Store. I highly recommend them for your donations!

I understand I bought a counterfit, but I thought there would be some kind of quality control, considering the other items that are there and the price of them. I was told on the phone well we're also vintage, and I can assure you this is not vintage either. I am extremely disappointed and giving a buyer beware don't be fooled by the beauty and smiling faces because it's another antique shop with vendors that want to charge you way more than what the item is worth and allows things from companies creating counterfeit decor. THE SPECIFIC VENDOR IS B24. I mean, seriously? ALI EXPRESS??? I've never been to a shop that had any items from there or similar companies, and I can't believe that even made it to the floor. (Speaking of, my mom and I almost made it to the floor multiple times with rugs ready to trip you down every aisel.) Y'all need to do better because I am disgusted and enraged that we paid 43 dollars for this. And as you can see, they charged 39.99 when the tag said 39.90!! Now I see why it's all sales final, so congrats you got our money and I went home SCAMMED. Shame on all of you for allowing this disgrace at an ANTIQUE STORE
