I googled "The Vinyl Cafe" and I ended up there. Turns out this is the place anyway. ‍‍. They have so many vinyl records that I had to stop looking or I would be there until close and left with no money. The prices are a little high for me (they sometimes come with more the 3 records) but the selection is amazing. This is a place I will be stopping in once a month for new vinyls. read more

First of all, I was so happy to see the door open on a Sunday. They didn't have posted hours for Sunday so when I past by after closing time on Saturday, I was sure I'd missed my chance. But, it was meant to be. This is the first bookstore I've been into since COVID hit and it just filled me with so much joy. It's a small shop, but we were the only ones in there when we stopped in. Secondly, this is exactly my favorite kind of used bookstore--a little bit of everything, and well labeled. Poetry, Romance, small paperbacks, etc. I spent a while wondering around looking for the queer/feminist/sexuality section and was sort of bummed when I didn't find it in the back only to be pleasantly surprised when it was right up front. $80 later and I am such a happy camper. Their displays are really nice, I picked up a Zora Neal Hurston I don't have, and the fact that queer stuff and the poc authors are right up front...it just makes me so happy. What a wonderful heart squeeze. They also sell records, but I was just here for the books so can't speak to that. Great customer service. Will be back, and just maybe I will bring some books to sell. Found this bookstore while wandering downtown FB side streets. Great selection, fair pricing, clean copies (very good/like new). I found and bought Godel Escher Bach, Uta Hagen's Respect for Acting, and Feynman's Six Easy Pieces. Cool selection of LPs and CDs. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something serious, something off the beaten path, or an easy vacation read for adults or kids. read more

Mr B spent over an hour in this record/bookstore yesterday, and he scored with a vinyl record that he had been wanting for a good price. He said the records here are in very good shape, and the selection is excellent, all for great prices. The only reason he didn't buy more records was because all the records he wanted weren't priced yet, and it would have taken too long to do the research to give him prices. :( I perused the books, and they are also priced fairly, so if you like books or records, GO TO THIS STORE! read more

Glad to find this small used bookstore while vacationing in Fort Bragg. Most of the books are in excellent condition.

If you're a book worm like I am and can't resist going into any and all bookstores this is THE PLACE TO GO in Fort Brag. I stopped in to look for some classic genre books and they had nearly everything I was looking for and even quite a few book shelves of vinyl records for those who love their music. The store is very clean, well organized and has a very nice feeling to it. When I got to the register to check out I ended up striking up a long conversation with the owner, who's very approachable, and knowledgeable when it comes to books, and even made some awesome recommendations, and is an all around nice, down to earth dude. Definitely the highlight of my Fort Bragg experience, this place has a 5/5 star rating for a reason! read more

This bookshop isn't your typical used book store. Very spacious, bright, and organized. The selection isn't huge but looks well thought out. Found a few vinyl records to purchase. They do have quite a selection of used vinyl that was in good condition. Looking forward to visiting here the next time I visit the area. read more

I really love this place, which feels like home every time I visit. Over the years, I've had great conversations with the family that runs the store -- true book lovers and so very welcoming. There are plenty of larger bookstores, but few, if any that are more tasteful in their selection. I especially appreciate the Autobiography section, which always holds surprises and delights. Independent bookstores are incredibly valuable resources, as this place demonstrates so amply. Here is a small center of community, stored wisdom, and intellectual stimulation. read more

You know how most used bookstores are crowded, musty, and disorganized? (Nothing against this type of store; I used to work in one!) The Bookstore is just the opposite. It's a smallish used bookstore that is impeccably clean, well-lit, and surprisingly spacious. It has the indefinable air of being well taken care of and curated by someone who really loves books. Prices are reasonable, and selection is decent for the size. I didn't find anything for myself today, but my partner had a good book conversation with the owner and ended up getting a book. If we ever end up back in Fort Bragg, I'm sure we'll stop here again. read more

I love this bookstore! I came in looking for The Alchemist and they had two used versions, varying in price! My fiancé and I bought 5-6 use books for right under $40 total!! Each book was under $10. I'll definitely be going back the next time I'm in town. The pregnant woman behind the counter was nice, but not very sociable. She was helpful when I asked about the prices though and where they got the books from. read more

My husband and I stopped by here on our way down the coast. The store used to be across the street & had a different owner, but it's moved slightly and under new ownership - now, it's this awesome lady Maureen and her cute baby. They carry mostly used books in good condition and some new local guide books. The emphasis here is on newer books, not first editions / antiquarian. The store is small, clean, and well organized. They may not have a lot of books, but they have a great selection of books. Personally, I like a small bookstore that only carries the best books for each topic. I like ancient roman history, and walked out with books Livy & Jerome Carcopino, as well as a 75 cent copy of Toni Morrison's Sula, which despite being in her bargain bin, was in great condition. Fort Bragg has three bookstores within two blocks of each other, making this little downtown a book browsers paradise, but The Bookstore is definitely worth a stop. read more
