As amazing as the location, I think the true value is in the sense of community among other creatives. The membership's credit system makes using various studios and equipment super simple. Sly, was an amazing tour guide and gave so much insight and REC Philly's back story, I was already sold but it was great to hear his passion and commitment. I love the hours of 10am to 10pm to accommodate schedules and that members have exclusive access to courses and events. Still not sold, schedule a tour of the facility and purchase, William Tyrone Toms' (REC Philly's co-owner), (UN)common Sense, it's a great blue print for those looking to get paid while having creative freedom.

So after relocating to NYC I came down to visit Crash (pre-covid) to pick up some audio files. The…read morenew facility is amazing with the control room having a perfect monitoring room. The whole construction of the studio level ups far beyond any other medium-large set up I seen and revivals if not, beats many NYC studios. It is hard for me to describe how amazing it is but let me quote their webage so I won't paraphrase anything. "The New Studio Crash is a beautiful recording studio built from the ground up to be world class in the field. With a nice large control room, a huge 840sq ft. live room with 14 ft slanted ceilings, an isolation room, a vocal booth, and two separate amp closets we have plenty of isolated spaces to get great sounds without the need to overdub everything. This makes it possible to record very large groups live and still have plenty of elbowroom and acoustic separation. Construction. Many studios may beautiful on the surface, like ours, but what's really important here is the stuff you don't see. So what is inside the walls and below the floor? Our construction entailed room-within-a-room construction. This means the walls you see are actually TWO (2) walls; each of which have two layers of " drywall and special acoustic insulation for sound absorption and a 6" air-space between them. These walls are floating on a layer of neoprene for even more sound isolation. The two pieces of glass in the 8 foot window separating the control and live rooms are each 1/2" thick, adding to the sound control. Under our new strand woven bamboo flooring, each room has its own individual "floating" concrete slab, decoupling it from the other rooms' floors. Even the HVAC was carefully planned, with every send and return having it's own insulated flex-duct all the way back to the HVAC unit. We even installed that HVAC unit in a separate building to keep it's mechanical noise far away from the studio space. The new studio's room acoustics are wonderful. Careful consideration in the design was spent on choosing room ratios as mathematically non-correlated as possible, in order to achieve evenly distributed axial, tangential, and oblique room modes. This means we get an amazingly smooth and accurate frequency response in the room ambience. This is something practically impossible to achieve without building from scratch like we did here." Mike is a PRO PRO PRO engineer. He has a new control surface going from a C24 to a D-Command as well as some focusrite preamps. He can also work on analog consoles as well as digital. The only downside is the breakroom can use some working on (unfinished floors) and parking is a bit troublesome, (I parked in the CVS lot across the way) but what can you do?!? We loved this converted silent movie hall that has been open for four years now but has been standing for many decades. The venue has a mish mash of seating with folding chairs, couches, office chairs, and some plastic new wave stuff. Everything is general seating so if you get there early you can snag one of the more comfortable chairs. Even though they are in the back, you can clearly see and hear perfectly. The owners also shelled out monies to build a balcony which has some hightop chairs and more comfortable office chairs around some tables. The closest seats to the stage have small round tables. The lighting was fun colors of strobe lights and a little bit of disco. There is also a stand with sodas and small snacks but they provide free (yes, it's free) popcorn. Salty, and you'll probably then want to buy a $2 soda. All staff were quite friendly. Check-in was a breeze as they had all names and you just showed your tickets. A bonus with your ticket is the 10% off your food at the Mexican restaurant almost next door. We were lucky to snag a street parking spot but you can park at the train station. My wife and I had a great time and loved the Fallser Club. Ticket prices for this show were only $20 each ($25 at the door) and there were about 130 at the show for a main guest who has performed all over the world. Great value. We'll be checking out what other shows may be coming around.

Both the venue and the talent are something special. Entrance to the show was only $20 and they offered $2 tickets for disabled individuals. When you enter you will find unique word art, velvet curtains, and the smell of complementary fresh movie theater style pop corn. There was a bar stocked with Vismos and some delicious canned cocktails by Top Dog. The Blood Orange Margarita was amazing! Cocktails were also very reasonably priced, 3 drinks totaled $24. The seating is mixed with comfy couches, chairs, loungers along with cocktail tables in front of the stage. We opted to use the upstairs area as we had a large party and enjoyed mingling between sets. The upstairs is not handicap accessible so plan to hang out on the first floor and enjoy the up close entertainment views of stairs are an issue. It was interesting to hear about the other events being hosted like a hackathon and a women's healthcare forum. This business is very blue which made me love it even more. It's important to know that there is only street parking available so leave time to find a spot. Parking was free which was great! You do need to parallel park so be prepared if you aren't used to doing that. Heir rooftop bar is amazing! I love the community feel and the way the businesses on the street supported each other. I really am looking forward to seeing more shows and events at this very special venue.

Derek completely changed the start of our day. He was such a kind soul, incredibly friendly, brought us chairs, checked on us, and genuinely cared that we were comfortable and were going to have a great experience. That kind of positive attitude at 6 AM says a lot about a person. Derek made us feel taken care of before the concert experience had even really begun. He is exactly the kind of manager you want representing your venue and setting the example for his team. Such a great way to start what ended up being an amazing concert experience.

It's been a long time since I've been to a concert, and what I experienced at Tash Sultana's show was unlike anything I've ever witnessed before. Drums. Guitar. Saxophone. Flute. Bells and sooo much more. Vocals that soared from whispers to powerful crescendos. Every instrument seemed like an extension of Tash, and every note felt intentional. People often say music is healing, music is therapy, music is universal. Last night, I felt that. Not just heard it--felt it. The audience wasn't there just to watch a performance. We were there to witness artistry. To share a moment of connection through rhythm, sound, and frequency. For a few hours, strangers were a community united by music/frequency. The team at the Fillmore made the experience even better. From security and "Jay" at coat/merch check, "Meghan" Guest Services, "Bob" food & beverage service (Card Only).
