Located in Philly's fashion district, the large space has room for filming, recording, photography, podcasts, and even live performances. As amazing as the location, I think the true value is in the sense of community among other creatives. The membership's credit system makes using various studios and equipment super simple. Sly, was an amazing tour guide and gave so much insight and REC Philly's back story, I was already sold but it was great to hear his passion and commitment. I love the hours of 10am to 10pm to accommodate schedules and that members have exclusive access to courses and events. Still not sold, schedule a tour of the facility and purchase, William Tyrone Toms' (REC Philly's co-owner), (UN)common Sense, it's a great blue print for those looking to get paid while having creative freedom.

I love the information in the programs (about the work, the performers, and even basic information for beginners) and a lot of the concerts have a pre-concert informational session in which people discuss the work about to be played. I love that it's very accessible for young people and there is a growing community here! Concerts are normally $25-35 a ticket, but with a $75 Young Friends membership you are able to sign up for unlimited concerts for the season. There are also normally receptions after the show or during intermission. This is such a great org in the Philly cultural scene!

Two, I plan to expand my classical music repertoire, I definitely will be listening to more similar pieces on Pandora, lol. A few suggestions that I have which would have made the evening even better: the narrator/orator who I believe gave the pre-concert lecture, which I missed, also gave a 20 minute introduction about the 7 sonatas. While I found the introduction interesting, I found it a bit lengthy and he was a bit verbose. I think a 10 minute intro would have captivated my attention better. The various Biblical references and verses, the Biblical relevance was incredibly interesting, however. I do wish that they had a brief intermission. I enjoyed my snack and beverage from the concession stand at a premium price, the ushers were friendly and helpful for the most part, except for one ornery one and forgetting to give us programs initially. All in all, great show which was indeed worthy of my standing O! (Yes I intended that rhyming! ). I would love to come back and see more shows here! Great location, great performance, a lot of fun!!

(Don't forget your cups and wine key. They don't have that.) This is a great place with great creativity. Just get a bottle, get some friends, break out of your old routine and go. It's exceptional. Buy tickets ahead of time online, though. They were turning away people. It fills up. It's good. Trust me.

Love what it used to be, and especially love what it is now!…read more If you've attended a Mad Decent Block Party prior to the one that happened at the Piazza this year then you might be well aware of the mausoleum that used to be Diplo's temple of sound. And when he moved on the expand the Mad Decent name to other parts of the US he sold it to a group who aimed to create an incredible DIY forum for art and music. The end result delivers quite well on both fronts. It makes for a good all ages shows. It wasn't that crowded tonight so there was plenty of space to dance. They have multiple projectors filling the walls with light and video accompanying the music, as well as some floor system that really picks up the bass and vibrates. This is to give you an immersive experience. Ironically, whatever allows the floor to vibrate also allows the floor to bow/buckle when someone walks on it which distracted me a bit until I got used to it. The sound is really amazing, and they pump it out! I'd recommend earplugs if you are sensitive. Downstairs is a very chill black light lounge area with a bar. I assumed they piped the music from the band down here, and I'm sure that is an option, but they had some very chill trance/hypno playing and you could barely hear the band upstairs, which surprised me. Completely different vibe from the upstairs. The food options are limited, and not always available which is a bummer, they advertise a fully equipped superfoods smoothie bar, which intrigued me. They advertise themselves as "the most unique music recording studio, video and event design production house." We got a parking spot by Delilah's, it was a quick walk down Front St. You can find one of you just drive in circles but we were happy parking here. Staff was super friendly, including the bartender downstairs. Bathrooms on both floors. Coat check and merch in the vestibule. Check it out, a unique and cool venue right near the Fillmore and Brooklyn Bowl.
