Bonnie and Mike are definitely the dog whisperers I was looking for to care for my pups while we were away on vacation. I realized how stressed I felt taking them to a vet boarding place, where my fur babies sit in a jail cell mostly isolated from people and fun. Bonnie interviewed my dogs and assessed whether they were a good fit and could get along with other dogs. She and Mike had no problem with my anxious and chatty hound/shepherd mix or grounded and stubborn carian terrier. They jumped right in the mix and had SO much fun! Bonnie made sure to send me pictures of them at rest and play, while we were away, which helped us relax and have fun, too. They have a great yard with fenced in areas, which allow for separation if needed. I think most of the time the poochies run and play, and then crash at night from a long day of fun. They really know dogs, and I was impressed at their compassion and humor while also keeping a watchful eye on how the dogs interacted with each other. We had plans for a long weekend Tahoe trip and I wanted to find a home environment for my 7 month old mini poodle pup, Knox, to stay while we were away. My goal was to find a safe, loving, clean home with a dog lover to watch over my dog. I was so blessed to find Bonnie! She is warm and kind. Bonnie and Mike were the only doggie daycare near the Pinole area that would accept our puppy. We started bringing our Boston Terrier to the Bow Wow Inn when she was 9 weeks old. We've since left the Pinole area and are based in Oakland, and we still drive the extra half-hour up to El Sobrante so that our now 3-year old dog can stay with Bonnie and Mike when we go out of town. I have boarded my dog several times at the Bow Wow Inn, and recommend this facility without reservation. My Doberman is a bit shy and anxious around dogs, and much to my surprise became the initiator in play time with Cody. I knew Dina was in the right place when I got an email during one of her stays saying that they were "all watching TV and enjoying the companionship of each other". When it's time to pick Dina up and take her home, there is some reservation on Dina's part about leaving, which is about the best result you could hope for when boarding a dog. I really appreciate the time Bonnie takes in getting to know my dog and her personality. She thoroughly evaluated Dina, and taught me some things I hadn't yet realized about my rescue (this was shortly after I had adopted Dina). She is kind, tender, and is wise to the ways of dogs....so she can anticipate a potential barrier before anything might happen. I have recommended the Bow Wow Inn to a friend who was traveling with me, and she couldn't have been more pleased with the care her dog received. I am very mindful of how fortunate I am knowing I can leave Dina with Bonnie, and she will have more than competent care, loving attention, and healthy boarding anytime that I need to travel for business or pleasure. read more

I highly recommend Bonnie Blair at the Bow Wow Inn. She does both boarding and day care from her home. She's been boarding my dogs for years, from when they were puppies and into old age. No matter what stage of life they're in, Bonnie gives them the special care and attention they need. And she always sends me pictures of them playing and having fun while I'm away. Bonnie is a complete sweetheart, her place is super clean, (doesn't even smell like dogs!), and her yard is full of dog friendly toys. She limits the number of dogs she takes at one time so she can be sure to give each dog the attention it needs. I tried a few of boarders before I found Bonnie. None of them came close! She's located just a few minutes from the Appian Way Exit off HWY 80. It only takes me about 15 minutes to get there from North Berkeley, and it is so worth it.
