The Bowery is picking up where it's former tenant The Fly left off. Every Monday sees The Comedy Bin occupy their basement, where in my experience presents equal measure of shockingly good and terribly bad new acts. But bear in mind that the bad ones are usually funniest once you think about how cringesome the act was on your way home. And it's an amusing walk home after taking advantage of that pre 7pm deal on wine.
Despite only being open for a few months they already have a strong live music prescence on their listings, as well as regular club night Subterranean Holborn Blues and events organised by the guys behind the B-Boy Championships. Perfect for those late nights when you find yourself wham bam in central London needing a decent pint or two.
It's good to see that music in central London isn't all dominated by large venue operators and at times like these, the independents can still shine through. read more
