Before labor, she prayed over my delivery and spoke so much encouragement into me. During labor at the birth center, she arrived calm, prepared, and ready to help. She supported both me and my husband, brought snacks, honey, and a fan, and guided me through different labor positions that helped my baby descend. They weren't always comfortable, but they worked! Her postpartum care was just as amazing. She checked in regularly, had a meal sent to our home, and during our home visit she washed dishes, folded laundry, and held and fed our baby so I could get some much-needed rest. She truly has a servant's heart and made such a difference in our birth experience. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate, and supportive doula.

I started interviewing doulas and midwives when I was only 3 months pregnant. After contacting Cynthya thru the Happiest Doulas website, I spoke with her and knew immediately that I needed the support of a doula from The Happiest Doulas as a part of my birth team. I requested a consult with Jeni Standard. Jeni's biography resonated with me the most because she had studied functional nutrition, and was certified in both nutrition and lactation. As a sufferer of Celiac Disease and someone who struggled with getting pregnant, I knew she would be a great resource and offer the support and understanding I needed. And I was so right - Jeni was the calm to my storm! She was there to comfort me after after some scary experiences. She also had great reading recommendations, as I was avidly reading all the books while pregnant. We had so many questions after our son was born and Jeni was so supportive and responsive. Because she is also a certified lactation consultant, she was able to support my decision to breastfeed, despite many obstacles. She followed up with me many times after our son was born, and I still feel like I could reach out to her just to catch up! Included in my birth package were 10 weeks of birth bootcamp classes. Our instructor, Alexa Gumm, was so wonderful! Her warmth and experience made our weekly Sunday classes something that my husband and I truly looked forward to. It turned out to be a great bonding experience for the two of us. We learned so much - from what to expect during labor (we got to watch videos) to info on breastfeeding. The classes were great for me, but mostly, I wanted my husband to really understand the process. He is not the type to read books, so a class was perfect. Alexa made sure the "dads" understood ways to support their partners during the birthing process. Alexa would have been so proud of my husband because he remembered everything she taught us during class and he was really supportive while I was in labor! She even followed up with me after our son was born and gave me some recommendations that were really helpful. I am so thankful Cynthya brought together the wonderful group called The Happiest Doulas! I will surely call on them again in the future when I plan my next birth. Cynthya was so kind and helpful as well throughout. I feel as if I gained 3 wonderful friends by the end of my pregnancy.

The happiest doulas, Jenny Bennett, nor Cynthia showed up. I saw Jenny as I was groggily being rolled out of my c section after laboring all night alone. Which is why I sought out a doula. Never again. I want to make people aware of what can happen with this practice especially after seeing a few other reviews say the same thing. They would Also Not refund any of my money after not showing up. I never seen these women at all during my pregnancy. Hopefully after this time they got together.

Mind you, my daughter then was 5, and scoring above average in reading and math. We were told to come back when married and now that I am, I would NEVER enroll my daughter here. They should be ashamed of themselves. And they're supposed to be a Christian school. And of course we're African American.

Before I set the record straight for the EKG course at this institute I would like to say Mrs…read more Melissa was very sweet and was only doing her job the best way she could. I don't hold her responsible for anything in this review. Now starting this program I was very excited and willing to put in the work required to pass the course and pass my exam. The course mostly went into depth on how to read an EKG, EKG strips and a bunch of vocabulary. I honestly thought I was prepared to take the CET Exam but I was not and I'm still not sure how I passed it. Out of 120 questions, there was maybe 20 questions about the stuff I learned in that course. Everything else I taught myself from taking random quizzes and studying on different websites. I would like to also say Erika Stubbs Green was very unorganized and honestly did not give me enough information about what the institute provides for students. I was lead to believe that if I passed the course with a 75% or higher I would be able to take my CET Exam at the Institute for FREE. NO ONE TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING EXTRA. I thought my $825 included more than what I received. Let me express $120 went into the application and background check. $825 went into a book and I suppose paying the instructor and keeping their lights on. Then $115 for my exam paid to NHA and if I wanted to take my test at the institute I would have to pay an extra $30. I feel like Eight Hundred and Twenty Five Dollars should have included: Uniform, Registration for the CET, The NHA Study Guide, A better book to learn from and at least a notebook with a pen or pencil. I wasted my money on self-teaching and a piece of paper. I would not recommend this course to anyone. I can't speak for the other courses but I really felt like I could have received better knowledge elsewhere. BTW Mrs. Erika could do better with the information she gives out and organizational skills. Considering she administer the test at the institute she could have already planned a date for EKG students to take the exam there after passing the course. When asking her when will the exam be she failed to have an answer and told me to take it at a PSI site then changed her mind and told me she will do it on a specific date (and deciding to tell me about the extra cost). When I ask about it the following week she forgot about it and said she has something going on and pushed the date back. At that point, I was just too fed up with her and the Institute. Don't waste money here. I really feel like the course was over priced anyways.
