Where do i begin?!? The staff? top notch! the Chicken wings? 5 Stars! the bar was popping, the TV were showing the game 'f**k the blue team' # iykyk . quite the lively crowd during the games. thank you to the bartender Jeff and Tristan the other chap who were so kind when i was there. they were engaging and friendly and were kind enough to tell me about the town so i could go places off the beaten trail. This was actually my 2nd to last stop before heading home and i will be back in heart beat. read more

We came for montreal comedy club night (review is not about show but venue) and the venue was decent, but a few flaws would prevent me from returning quickly. Starting with the good, the waitress was attentive as possible while the bar was very understaffed for such a busy night. In a province known for its poutine, we were served something resembling poutine soup. Way too much gravy, cheese was fine but the taste was drowned by tue absolute soupiness! We had a round of drinks, one friend had a hot chocolate and it was literally served in a glass with no handle (too hot to hold), zero whipped cream or any adornments for an overpriced hot chocolate. Because of the over capacity show the tables were shoved so close to one another. read more

A great place for an impromptu stop-in So we were loitering around before dinner at a tourist trap restaurant and happened upon The Brass Door Pub. WE SHOULD HAVE JUST STAYED HERE!!! Brass door is my favorite pub to go to since coming to Montréal. And who can say no to 69 cent wings on Wednesday's. Been there 6 times now and service is always great and super accommodating to large parties. Very much recommend checking this place out, good music too. read more

My husband and I were wandering Montréal before dinner and stumbled into this friendly pub. We were charmed by the warmth of the server, Élodie, and the warm atmosphere. The first night we tried the seasonal delights (pictured is the cranberry sauce martini) including some apple spices chicken wings (and we were headed to dinner!). The second night we did not intend to come back but we were passing by and decided we would rather be "regulars" at a place we enjoyed than strangers and take a chance elsewhere. My boyfriend and I were visiting Montreal from Wisconsin. We were looking for a relaxing place to hangout and have a drink when we found this spot . This place is amazing. Looks like a dive bar but is absolutely fantastic. Great wings. Try the jerk spiced wings and Korean bbq. Friendly staff. Went on a trip for the culture and was not disappointed, delicious drinks well crafted the vibe was on point. Didn't babe the food but the pricing was good. The bartenders brag about "acting gay" .... "to get more tips." The DJ on Fridays boasts that he plays the 'best jams' and shouts the lyrics to every song he chooses. And the barbacks take more shots than the customers. Ha! This is a fun place for the right kind of person! Antics and snobbery. Update: Was a two star review because the drink prices are unbeatable, especially when translated to USD. But the owner messaged me suggesting my review was for the "wrong place" yet offered no apology for my poor experience at this establishment.So now... just one star instead of two. read more

I've been coming here since last fall 2016, and immediately fell in love with Soulvation Thursdays. The brass door is a fairly traditional pub- their food menu is $$ Nachos, burgers aren't bad with a decent bar selection of drinks. I go on and off go catch a performance by Shaharah and Soulvation - it's hard to find live band performances that will do old school R&B covers to Lauryn Hill, Montell Jordan, Next, etc. The vibe gets nuts! I love the energy in this place during their performances - everyone is dancing, smiling, singing and just jiving to old tracks - don't be surprised if you need to bring along a towel with the amount of sweat you need to wipe off from dancing! The bad performs 2 sets - the show ends around 12:30 am - full house, come early if you want seats ~8:30 pm! Be warned the lady's toilet doesn't work too well and will require like flushing a million times - no sarcasm here - best so do your business anywhere but here! read more

Good vibes! Thursday night (around 10/10:15p) they have live music. I don't remember the band or lead singer's name but they weren't so diverse with the songs they covered. But I loved it! Waitresses are friendly (didn't expect anything less). They're drink options aren't too vast but I'm sure they have something for you. I would definitely come back! read more

Used to go here all the time and the service, vibe, and food used to be great. I don't know if they had a massive management and staff turnover but the service now is absolutely terrible. It is so unbelievably terrible. We came in on a Saturday night with some friends and the place was dead so we thought it'd be great because we can get seats and quick service but nope. We were a pretty large group so it's hard to miss but we sat for a good half hour before the serv came and gave us menus. She was literally just standing behind the bar with the other server complaining and talking shit about their job and their customers because, god forbid, they have to serve people. So we ordered food and drinks and then proceeded another half hour of waiting for not only our food, but also our drinks. For god's sake I didn't realize it took half an hour to pour and serve beers in an otherwise empty pub. We finally got our drinks at the same time as our food. The food wasn't the same as when we used to go and it was not a change for the better. We asked for ketchup and it took our server another 15 minutes to get back to us because I guess talking shit about your customers with the bartender is just very time-consuming. She did not check up on us at all and if you wanted another drink, just forget about it because she's not coming back to your table. Some of us decided we'd just order more drinks at the bar since she clearly wasn't coming back and holy fuck it was a terrible idea; we should've just left. The other bartender was a fucking jackass. He gave us so much attitude for literally no reason at all. He was rude, arrogant, and apparently can't even look you in the eye when you order because it's not really worth his time. What an actual piece of shit, I honestly couldn't believe what was happening. Anyway we decided to leave early because we're not idiots and it took us another half hour to get our bills after asking. Shocker. So yeah, I do not recommend. read more

My girlfriend and I went there Friday afternoon for a beer and to wind down. Very few patrons at 4 o'clock, but the ones sitting at the bar made all the noise and made the place feel like it was full and not in a good way. It was our first time there and the next time will be after I cross the desert and I find no other place to quench my thirst. read more

first visit to this bar / pub on upper Crescent ~ here's the skinny Atmosphere: extremely cozy, warm, and welcoming. This is where you want to be when you meeting your friends for a drink - it's casual and not assuming. This is not a pretentious place by any stretch of the imagination. The place even offers a live band on certain days, surefire way to pass an eventful evening Food: was not able to try the food given that we arrive too late in the evening but based on the menu it looks like it's regular pub fare & the prices are quite reasonable Service: Being not so busy, there is one waitress and one bartender. Landed at Brass Door with some of my favorite Yelpers after a local shindig. We sat at the bar and we're graciously served by Dan himself. He was approachable but didn't crowd, informative without being pushy, and introduced us to a "Jameson break" in the form of Forty Creek. If ever I were to send someone here, I would hope they would be served by him. Menu wasn't anything great, the jalapeño caps weren't what I was expecting despite them being good for what they were. A few sub par wing sauces but that depends on your palette. Poutine sauce was sub par however. All in all, between pricing specials, vibe and great staff I would definitely suggest this hidden gem if you're in the area. read more

For context I and my friends are in our late 30s to early 40s, and we had beforehand gone to another establishment but the temperature was unbearable as they did not have air conditioning so we sought out an alternative and chose Mckibbin's. Funnily enough, Mckibbin's didn't have AC either but we ended up staying for a few drinks regardless, mostly to appreciate the live music which was quite good. The waitress was good as well, quick and friendly, we had a minor snafu with a couple of the drinks which were not to our liking but the bar graceously replaced them which is yet another solid point in their favor. Why, you might ask in that case, would I be rating this establishment one star then? Well it all comes down to how we ultimately exited the establishment. We all paid our tab at the table, and finished up the rest of our drinks, still enjoying the music playing. It was a great band by the way, I just have to say. We all ended up leaving after 10-15 minutes and all seemed well, except it was only once we're outside that I found out that apparently one of our group who had gone to the bathroom had been victim of a rather apauling scenario. He had been in the stall for 10 or so minutes (he was doing what he had to do .. sometimes nature calls), and was interrupted by a knock on his stall only to hear the bouncer tell him he had to pay and get out of the bar immediately. The bouncer aparrently had heard him "sniffing" his nose in the stall, and found that to be appropriate reason enough to accuse him of doing cocaine in the stall, and to force him out of the bar. Of course it did not cross his mind to think that perhaps it had something to do with the bar being at approximately 29 degrees, perhaps my friend simply had a stuffy nose, or perhaps he had allergies, no he heard a few sniffles and that was all he needed to throw out allegations. Needless to say, I'm completely and utterly disgusted having learned this. Ultimately we left and let things be, we weren't about to bust back in there and cause disruption for no reason we were already on our way out anyway, but to think that this man, employed by this establishment, could be so outlandishly shortsighted is a true injustice. Suffice to say, my friend has never done cocaine in his life, we quite literally made jokes about this man's accusations the whole ride home. Still, I will never go back to this place, because I shudder to think of myself in his situation and what I might do, how it would make me feel to be on the bad end of this kind of person's shortsighted and unfounded accusations. That said, I urge anyone and everyone to beware of the types of people this establishment has working under its payroll. Most of their staff (everyone else in-fact) were excellent, but unfortunately it only takes one completely rotten apple to ruin the bunch.
