Have been a resident of Fort Pierce for years, but this is the first time I ate here. The first…read morething our waiter said to us was you know there's an 18% gratuity added. Literally instead of a hello We had already been told this by the hostess as she seated us and considering they've got it on the menu as well as at the table in big letters, I'm assuming this is a problem for most people. It is for me. I will usually tip even at lunch 25% for good service but when the management is forcing me to pay 18%, whether the service is good or not, then that's what I'm going to pay. Management is not doing their wait staff any favors. I took a star off for that. As far as the food, I was pleasantly surprised. I had fried green tomatoes and the fish and chips. My niece had a smash burger. She says hers was excellent. The fried green tomatoes were literally the best I've ever had. Which is saying a lot because I love this appetizer and will usually order it in any southern restaurant. The fish and chips were also good but not great. The fish was tender, and the breading was crispy and not too soggy, but it was not perfectly crispy. The french fries were lacking in flavor and chewy. But basically the food was good and the service was satisfactory but not great. But I will be back to try other items on the menu -/ if you're setting the bar for an 18% tip then that saves the customers a lot of money when they would usually do 25 to 30%. When I see this in a restaurant, it tells me that the management does not want to dip in their profits to give their employees health insurance, but depends on the customer to do it for them.

Not only do they offer a wide variety of options, but they're also dog-friendly--and even have a menu for your furry friend, which was such a nice touch. We ordered the omelet and the waffles, and both were delicious. Our waitress was incredibly attentive--she quickly brought our coffee and even a bowl of water for our dog. She truly made the experience even better. The prices were reasonable, and the ambiance was lovely. We sat outside on a covered porch with a nice view which made it even more enjoyable. If the 18% charge is genuinely being distributed to the service staff, I'm completely comfortable with it. I believe in supporting the people who are providing the service, especially when they contribute to a positive experience. As long as it's clear that this fee is not just an added cost but actually benefits the staff, I have no issue with it. We will definitely be back!

I have been regularly visiting the Square Grouper Tiki Bar in Fort Pierce for 3 years. From the…read moredoor staff to the managers, this establishment is top notch! It is run so well. They ALL speak to everybody whether they know you by name or not. No cell phones are allowed by the bar staff behind the bar is probably one of my favorite rules. The scenery is breathtaking, from the water you can see the boats come and go in and out from the jetty. There is Derecktor Shipyard located at the end so there are many impressive boats coming in and out for repairs. And the sunsets are amazing! Food is great and plentiful. Prices are VERY reasonable. I like the fact that they don't charge a service fee for anything. Heaters and roll down windows are used when necessary. Watching patrons playing the ring-toss game is fun (some of the locals are very competitive). The bar staff is GREAT! A MUST stop for visitors in the area. The nightly music (except on Sundays) and their weekend day music is exceptional. The only very minor complaint I have is the employee uniforms. Black shirts do not go well in the dead of summer with no breeze. The girls need some sort of a hat to cover their heads in the middle of the windy winter days, also, a heavier hoodie. Those thin ones just don't cut it.

Upon arrival, we were questioned about the dogs in a way that felt inappropriate. I was asked whether they were service animals, and when I confirmed that one was, I was further questioned about my medical condition, which made me extremely uncomfortable. We were eventually allowed in. I was unaware of the dog policy and was not informed that dogs were not allowed, these people don't even allow children I later saw (not family friendly). I rejoined my parents and we sat at a table off to the side, away from other guests, as we are always mindful that not everyone is comfortable around dogs. I ordered drinks and food at the bar, then stepped away briefly to use the restroom. The bartender (Olivia) was dismissive and made me wait a long time to order, not very inviting. When I returned, a manager approached our table in an aggressive and confrontational manner and insisted that we leave, claiming the dogs were barking. This was not accurate, neither of the dogs barked. We were shocked by the way the situation was handled, especially because there was no attempt to speak to us calmly or respectfully. It was a bit savage, something we aren't used to. When I asked what we should do since we had already ordered, I was rudely told the food would be packed up and brought outside. I went to the bar to cancel the order instead and asked for the manager's name, but the bartender refused to provide it. The manager then came to the bar and confronted me in a rude and dismissive tone. When I tried to calmly address the issue, he became even more confrontational and started to laugh, extremely unprofessional and disrespectful - trying to instigate the situation even more. I told him I would not lower myself to his level of communication and that the situation lacked basic customer service. After that, his behavior became even more aggressive. As we prepared to leave, the manager stood by the entrance watching us in a way to try to intimidate us, then followed closely behind us as we exited. Again, I was with my elderly parents, no respect and again, savage low-class behavior. The situation could have been handled with courtesy, professionalism, and respect. Instead, we were made to feel embarrassed, unwelcome, and intimidated. I did research on this restaurant and found that a blind veteran and his service dog were attacked and there was a big lawsuit just 2 years prior. The door guy attacked and injured one of our veterans, blind, over a service dog policy is disturbing. I hope that whoever reads this, decides not to come to this establishment, there are several reviews of how rude the workers are and it's unacceptable that the owner allows ratchid behavior. Read all the negative comments, this place is terrible!!!

Beer & Wine I…read morehappened upon Vine & Barely as a result of popping into an adjoining business and having the luck of parking in front of V&B. As it was a Friday night, they had some live music which caught my attention, so I popped in to have a look. As the name implies, they serve Wine and Craft beers, I'm not much of a beer guy, so most of my review will be about the wine side of things. I grabbed a seat at the smallish bar and ha look at the offerings - the wine selection was definitely not the usual suspects (a pet peeve) and after a few minutes I was sort of not sure of what I wanted. The young lady working the bar stepped in and asked me what I like- I explained my usual taste profile - medto heavy body and on the spicier side of things and she recommended a Pinot Noir, which would I not have normally thought of - she merely said "you have to try this". She was right on the money with that recommendation. The wine was fabulous and the music was going on so I sat back and had a look around: cozy place with a good number of tables scattered around - I would think this is more of a date place or a night out with good friends. Definitely not a beer and shot vibe here. The beer side of the house is definitely a decent choice as well - if you like beer. They have 20-some beers available on tap or canned. Like the wine, they can walk you into a perfect choice if you can describe what you like. A couple came up to where I was sitting and ordered a charcuterie board, so I had a look at the small sampling of nosh items. I was considering the same charcuterie board but it turned out to be larger than expected when they finished making it for the folks that ordered it so I went for a smaller bite. The food offerings are all centered on meats / cheeses / pretzels and some desserts. They do not have full on entrees- so plan accordingly. All in all, a great spot- I have been living here for 3.5 years and yet, this place had escaped my attention. Not anymore! Definitely will put it into the rotation. Parking lot available
