Got up and ran for breaky. We had a delicious meal after a short drive. We were welcomed when we walked in the door and were assisted in making decisions based on as available. Everything was delicious and it was well worth the drive! The decorations reminded us of the life that the building had had years before the bakery moved in. We loved it!

So glad we were able to make a stop here on our road trip. We feel super lucky because this gem is only open three days out of the week: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We loved the window display and loved the news article about how this establishment started. The story of how a physician changed career paths so he can have a family business with his special needs daughter! The menu is extensive but it does depend on when you get there as some items can be sold out. We were so lucky that we were able to pick from a nice fresh selection of sweets and savory items. We ordered the chicken pot pie, Mac and cheese, the huckleberry cream pie, the raspberry cheesecake and the basque cake. Everything was delicious! Couldn't complain about a single item. They were so delicious we went back inside to get more pot pies but apparently we bought the last ones. Luckily we were able to buy them frozen! Such a nice establishment and a heartwarming story on how it got started. Definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone. The staff were friendly and a pleasure to speak with.

Yeah, this is clearly illegal. I have already eaten half a loaf. Brought it home last night after a day of travel, driving for six hours and flying for six hours. It's luxurious, so glad I found it.

Thought I had just stepped into a European bread and chocolate shop. The aroma of the two topped off with coffee over the top wonderful. The chocolates are worth the price, nothing like this in the Front Range. I could have eaten a tray of the chocolate turtles.

Amazing pastries! Found the shop on accident while traveling through and we could not be happier with the pastries. We got the breakfast croissant, pain Au chocolate, lemon blueberry scone for breakfast. Also got sourdough bread, a strawberry and rhubarb pie and a cake for later.

Deli case of tarts, pies, and croissants.

Cute place in downtown Torrington on Main Street. The ham and cheese croissant was buttery and flaky and the raspberry croissant was delicious. The staff was friendly as well. Great place.

Best chicken pot pie I have ever had in my life! I will forever have dreams about that bit of heaven I had in my mouth and tell everyone to go to The Bread Doctor to taste the pot pie. Additionally, this place does have other excellent food offerings -- the desserts are amazing too! I will be back the next time I'm in town!

I stumbled on to this review just by looking up the phone number for Main Street Market. First off…read moreMiss Nunya B if you don't have the courtesy to use your real name you really shouldn't leave a review--especially if it is negative! I see that was the only review for this store and it was submitted in 2013. Nevertheless, I am compelled to write my own review becuase I totally disagree with what Miss Nunya B had to say! Being a small town grocery store definitely is disadvantaged. With smaller customer base they can't be expected to offer as many choices as the big city and can't compete with the big city prices--but they do a darn good job of both! I will argue that driving 30 miles to Walmart to save money doesn't actually do that in consideration of the price of gas, etc. If you shop MSM sales the prices are usually less than the big stores. But price isn't everything...MSM has a GREAT MEAT DEPARTMENT. If you speak directly with one of the butchers I can guarantee you will get the best of what ever you are looking for! They will pick out the very best steaks or roast and you won't be disappointed. The DELI has the best fried chicken in town! And if you call ahead when wanting a big order they will guarantee to have a freshly cooked batch ready when you want to pick it up--never the stuff that has been in the case since lunch! Their meats and cheeses are always fresh and there is always something on sale to choose from. The PRODUCE department is always fresh. They are good to bring in seasonal items with prices very comparable to big stores. Last of all...as a resident of Torrington I love to see all the familiar faces of the employees who work there. MSM provides a lot of jobs and based on how many employees have worked there for a very long time (20+ years) they must treat their employees very well. Yes, I do shop at other stores from time to time--usually for an item that they are not able to get. But Main Street Market is always my go to store for all of my grocery shopping!

We finally caught this place during the rare phenomenon known as "open hours" and figured we'd live…read moredangerously and try it. If you're a fan of food that tastes like it's practicing social distancing from seasoning, congratulations--you've found your soulmate. We walked in and were told to seat ourselves, which felt a little like being released into a corn maze. The restaurant is chopped into secret rooms you can't see from the entrance, so after poking my head around like a confused meerkat, we gave up and parked ourselves by the front door. It was busy, though I suspect that's due to long-standing loyalty and not a sudden outbreak of taste buds. The waiter greeted us with, "Do you need menus?" No sir, we brought our own crystal ball. Yes, we need menus--we've never been here. The options included tacos, burritos, tostadas, and--mysteriously--a deep-fried hotdog, which felt like it wandered in from a county fair and refused to leave. We ordered the pork chili smothered burritos. When mine arrived, I finished it in under eight bites--new personal record. For $6 I expected a burrito, not a participation trophy. They've clearly built a devoted following of people who enjoy food on mute, so they probably won't notice us slipping away. We wish them well--and if you enjoy culinary adventures in the land of bland, this might be your happy place.
