While on a recent business trip to rural Kentucky, we discovered Brickhouse and ended up eating here twice. On the first occasion, we were a group of 9 and we ordered appetizers (including the beer cheese with pretzel bots which was super tasty!!) salads and mains. Everyone really enjoyed their meals along with our amazing server. Food quality was very good, like elevated bar food/gastro pub cuisine, with nice touches, such as the goat cheese salad with fried rounds of creamy goat cheese on a generous bed of fresh greens, served with cranberries and slivered almonds and a creamy raspberry dressing. One thing I was a little disappointed with was the brusselsprouts salad. This was recommended by friends and touted as a 'house favorite'. But the brusselsprouts were not fresh, and were overcooked - likely they were canned or frozen then cooked with the bacon and blue cheese. The bacon and blue cheese helped the overall flavor, but as someone who LOVES both the flavor and texture of fresh brusselsprouts fried/ caramelized, I had expected something different. On the second occasion, we ordered lunch to go for 12 people, mostly salads plus desserts. We had been advised to order between 10 am and 11 am the day we wanted take out, which we did, but apparently, so did a bunch of other large groups....so our order which was to be picked up at 11:30 am wasn't ready til 12:40 pm. Even so, food did not disappoint, and everything was nicely seasoned, cooked well and fresh. A couple more things of note: -- Several people ordered the sweet potato fries at dinner and for lunch, and everyone raved at how special they were, especially with the sugary/buttery dipping sauce. I am a little sad I missed out on them! -- During dinner, we were too full for dessert but decided to get it with lunch; I had the chocolate lava cake which was totally decadent; others ordered the lemon berry cake and salted caramel cheesecake - everyone raved the desserts were fantastic! Overall, when dining in, the decor of this historic-house-turned-restaurant is eclectic and inviting. The bar atmosphere, friendly and well versed staff, and great menu beckon you back for future meals. Definitely a special spot in Prestonsburg! And don't forget to get dessert! read more

The first few times we ate here, the food was okay. The last time (we definitely WON'T be back), my husband and I both ordered burgers and fries. I ordered my burger medium well and my husband got his medium. Both burgers came and were very rare and cold in the middle. The fries were half done at the very best. It was about 45 minutes after opening and wasn't very busy at all. I definitely WOULD NOT recommend. read more

Stoped here because I got of late from work ant they were still open. Service was great Liz my server was amazing ordered the rib eye! Yum it was delicious and the baby potatoes were too. They have a great selection of libations too. Place was clean and plenty of tv to watch about what ever the local are watching. Defiantly would recommend this place. read more

BadaBing BadaBoom! Tonight is as my second time getting to enjoy this place! It has a fantastic feel like you're walking to someone's home! And it opens up to this perfectly decked out bar and dining area! The decor is quite delightful and gives you that hometown feel. The menu is most certainly Kentucky! From the traditional Hot Brown down to the perfectly seared steaks! I was with a group of seven hungry men all with a very discerning palate! Those that did not order the ribeye or New York strip got the bada bing shrimp and they were an amazing House specialty. I was lucky and got to try them both along with one of their fried raviolis! All I can say is it was huge and stuffed with rich ricotta, lightly breaded and fried then topped with a home made tomato sauce! It was delicious! I was so hungry I forgot to take photos! The service is fantastic! Attentive and quick. Even with how crazy busy it was on a Friday night! They were super accommodating too as we are a part of seven of the street! Had the goat cheese salad and caprese pizza both were very good. Service and atmosphere were also great. Ample outdoor seating.

Overall great local place. We started with some cocktails and both were great. The Beer Cheese appetizer was the big star --highly recommended. The burger and nacho entrees were both good, not great, but good. read more

Food was cold and not able to eat. Service was absolutely horrible as it took them an hour just to get our drinks before It took additional time to get the food. They had people live singing and it was way too loud needed to be turned down. Overall I would not suggest this place if you want good food and service. read more

We went to dinner on a Thursday evening to celebrate a family birthday. We were pleasantly surprised that they had live acoustic music in the back dining area so we chose to sit there. If you prefer a quieter area there is a front dining room, too. They have a full bar with approximately 6-8 wine options, approximately 8-10 draft beers, bottled beer and various liquors. The service was outstanding and our waitress was great, despite the fact that she was VERY busy. She checked on us often and even brought a piece of chocolate lava cake for the birthday girl. Their menu is extensive with everything from burgers, salads, steaks and pizza. Their pizza is delicious and they do offer the option to get 1/2 pizza (which is 4 large slices). We ordered the fried green tomato appetizer and the beer cheese appetizer. The tomatoes were a little mushy. The beer cheese was phenomenal. Prices are a little on the high side for certain items (10oz filet was $47) but the food is very good. The parking lot is very small and the signage in front is dimly lit (we drove by twice before seeing it). If you're in the area and looking for a "nice" restaurant, this is the place to go. For lunch I tried another local place called The Brickhouse Restaurant in Prestonsburg, KY. I would have given it a 4 star review but the food prep and delivery was lacking. I'll explain... I was seated in the room furthest from the entrance. When I was seated, I was the second customer in the room. I had checked out the menu online before I went so I knew what I was going to order. I ordered my appetizer and a burger. I was followed by a party of 3 and a party of 6. The party of 6 looked to be a group of nurses who were celebrating a birthday. Well, of the 3 groups, I received my appetizer last. This kind of service really annoys me. I feel that it should be first come, first served, especially if I ordered first. So, that was the first thing. Next, on to the food. I ordered the Bada-Bing Shrimp appetizer and the Brickhouse Burger with seasoned crinkle cut fries. After finally receiving my appetizer, I dig in. Now, don't get me wrong, it was delicious. The shrimp were large to extra large in size, good quality, and well cooked. The batter was a little on the soggy side due to the Bada-Bing sauce but not bad. The sauce was creamy, sweet, and mildly spicy. The shrimp were served on a bed of lettuce with some fried wonton strips. Seriously, this appetizer was so big that it could be a meal in itself. Overall a good dish. Next, the Brickhouse Burger. If I have a choice, I always order my burgers medium. I feel it's a good mix of doneness and texture. The description says it comes with pulled pork, red onion, pickles, tomato, spicy brown mustard, and provolone cheese. I receive my burger about halfway through my appetizer. I'm looking at the burger and I notice that there's no pulled pork on my burger. The server brings a small plate with the pulled pork on it and informs me that they forgot to put it on in the kitchen (I had already noticed at this point.) The server offered to take my burger back and have them put the pork on the burger but I told him that I would take care of it. I add the pulled pork to the burger and take a bite. The burger is too tall to fit in my mouth for a full bite. Having said that, the burger was very tasty. The patty was a good medium doneness, with the flavor of the pulled pork adding a little sweetness. The only flavor issue was that, when I got to the middle of the burger, the spicy brown mustard and pickles took over the flavor and that's all I tasted. The "seasoned" crinkle cut fries, although large, were like something you could find in your local grocer's freezer section. I couldn't really taste any seasoning. Nothing special. Overall it was a good meal. I'll probably return to try something else. More interesting stuff on the menu. read more

I'm not sure there is much better around the area but this place does a satisfactory job. Crab cakes were really good but a little overfried. Myself and my partner both got salads that were great. The lettuce was crisp and fresh. The Caesar salad delivered in an amazing way and the Parmesan crisp on top was incredible. The southwest salad had some blue cheese thrown in it which was an odd choice but everything came together to make a tasty salad that was very filling. The mac and cheese was Kraft with extra cheese sprinkled on top, I was astonished. I took off a whole star for it. Overall the food delivered but it didn't wow me. 4 stars because for Prestonsburg it's one of the few best options. read more

Since we moved to the area, we've eaten here five times, and overall, we have been super pleased. However, let's get the negative part out of the way first. We had dinner here last Saturday night and wanted to hang out for the live music, and while the music was really nice, the atmosphere felt more and more like a college bar or meat market as the night progressed. The only other negative is that when we came here for brunch a few Sundays ago, the service was just awful - like seriously one of the worst all-around experiences we've had. However, I think it was an issue with the server, not the restaurant itself. I've been back twice since that experience and have had great experiences (although I went out of my way to be seated in a different section when the brunch server was working). We've had amazing service from Brian, Nicole, and Abby (and another young man whose name has escaped me), so we will now always ask for one of them. The menu offers a wide selection of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pizzas, and entrees, and the food has always been on point. The cheddar bacon ranch fries, the goat cheese salad with salmon and raspberry vinaigrette, the Briscoe melt, and the Bada Bing pizza are some of our favorites. They also offer a nice selection of drinks with the pixie stick martinis and fishbowl being amongst our favorites. Again, but for the one pretty prolific brunch experience, The Brickhouse has not disappointed us. read more

This place is a solid eat! I've eaten here twice while working in presto burg area. I was fully satisfied. The service was exceptional and my server was friendly. The salad was nothing amazing but a good eat. The pizza seemed to be brick oven I believe and probably the best pizza in the area. We had a group of 10 on a motorcycle trip on a Friday afternoon. Chose to eat here based on website reviews from Yelp and others. So glad we did. We arrived at 1:00 so we were a little past the noon lunch rush but we got seated right away on the covered patio. It was a very nice setting. We were waited on right away and the food came out quickly. There was a variety of food selected amongst our group but everyone said how good their food was. Very glad we stopped here. They should probably make sure they use better signage so people will know to go in the side gate instead of the front so we didn't look stupid standing at the please wait to be seated for 5 minutes. This place should be rated the best restaurant in Prestonsburg hands down. From the building, to the atmosphere, the service and most important the food. Everything we ordered was great. The pork chop, Brussels sprouts, sweet potato fries with brown sugar topping, pecan salad, salmon, burgers, pulled pork Mac n cheese. All my party ordered came out timely and delicious. Prices were reasonable. Only complaint is that they don't serve milk which is really odd for a restaurant. Especially when they have a kids menu. Maybe consider adding milk to the menu. Also should note that gratuity is automatically added to the bill. Would eat here every week if I lived in town. read more

Food was wonderful. We were in town for a week and visited twice. I had smokehouse burger and husband had hot brown platter. Second visit I had the chicken sand and he did Einstein burger. Everything we tried was great. Both visits the servers very friendly, helping with suggestions, checking on us after the food came out. Beautiful building inside, there was outside seating but we were out all day and we chose to stay inside. If you are near this place do yourself a favor and go for a meal. Walking in was a bit awkward as no one was there to greet us. It was our 1st, but not last, visit so we we had no idea what to expect. Shortly after entering the beautiful welcome way a friendly gentleman was quick to say "hello, how are u?" and get us seated and waited on. The Brickhouse is pretty good. For the area, it's definitely great! And that's not to say anything bad about the area, it's just that there aren't that many restaurants located there, especially nicer sit-down type places. I don't find myself in EKY very often now, but when I lived in the area there was nowhere like The Brickhouse, so I'm glad to see places like this moving into the area as I come to visit family. Some of my favorite items from the menu are the Beer Cheese, which comes served with pita bread, Apple Bourbon Chicken Wings, Buffalo Chicken Wings, Cheddar Bacon Ranch Fries, Fried Green Tomato Burger, Kentucky Hot Brown Pizza, and Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Everything is great! We've always had good service and the food always comes out hot and fresh. I also love that The Brickhouse has a full bar. This is something else that you couldn't really find when I lived in the area, so I love seeing places like this when I visit EKY now. The Brickhouse is with the visit just to see how they converted an old brick house into a restaurant. We sat in the addition but next time I'll have to sit in the original house. It's so cool. I got the hot brown and it was pretty tasty. They also have a good selection of beers. read more

I fell in love with the vibe of this place clearly once a southern home. Have lunch on the beautiful front porch, a romantic dinner inside, the back has a large bar which feels like an old school saloon or pub, and my favorite is the outdoor patio in the back.
