I don't manage sensory input well, often need silence, am sometimes in a non-responsive state, and sometimes cannot speak or see. She understood that "silence" comes in many forms, with not speaking being only a part of it. She didn't wave frantically in front of my face repeatedly, or do anything else inappropriate to my care, which needs to be low-key and efficient. Jade started in the middle of a severe relapse where I couldn't make eye contact or speak. Most PSWs cannot work with this situation at all, but Jade could. She was calm, and confident, and quietly got the job done following written directives without making me more ill. Jade particularly excels at reading my cues and gestures. She has a great attitude and is a friendly, pleasant and unintrusive person to share my home with. When I began to be able to speak a tiny bit, she understood my directives and could complete them without ever asking me to repeat them (which I'm too weak to do, and become neurologically overstimulated if I try). Jade is firmly in the top 15th percentile of PSWs, which is the type of PSW I have a medical need for. There are so many things to consider, timing being one of them. When is the best time. Do they need help beyond our capabilities to keep them home? Will their lives improve? Will they concede? How to alleviate their fears of being locked away, institutionalized. It's a lot. I will jump to my discovery and that is we all agree including my Mother that we should have done this a couple years ago. She was suffering alone trying to be independent. Spending a fortune at an independent living facility where she slowly became depressed and cared less and less about leaving her room. She wouldn't call us. She just sat watching TV, bored for the days. Her eyes have degenerated from having Diabetes. Once a voracious reader to now being unable to see the largest print on her iPad. It was heart breaking. She suffered a broken leg and this was the final hit on her mobility. She could absolutely not care for herself well enough to be at the retirement home any longer. I was left to research how what to do next. I will reveal here that it was a difficult process to learn the system and get the information I needed. It's not straightforward the learning curve was a bit steep and stressful. However as I began to connect with the people I needed to I was pleasantly surprised at the options. Again, I say after all we leaned and now experienced we wish we had done it earlier. The money we spent at the retirement home was about equal to the superior care she receives now. The thing to understand is the waiting list to get a person in can be a long one so being ahead of the time they need to be there is the big guess. I would advise that it comes faster than you think as an older person with health issues can decline faster than others. Get organized and know how to apply and where you would want to put the person before you need to get them on the list so it's a quick and easy process. If you go your some facilities it will ease your mind and give you the understanding of when to make the move. So. Here I am in my story where my Mother has been there three weeks now. I have been so impressed beyond my imaginings. The social worker, Sachen was my first contact at the Post Inn and he is the most lovely human. His job is a calling in my opinion and he takes it seriously. I couldn't believe the intake questions he asked to learn more about my Mother. He wanted to understand her background, what she really loves and needs to feel happy in life so they could do their best to give that to her and help her feel at home at the new place. He was so patient and caring. I later discovered that every person I have been in contact is also the same. The room is simple and pleasant. We are allowed to add to it and make it hers. Everything is safe. The programs are fun and keep her stimulated. The food has been a nice surprise after months in hospital she isn't complaining so much. Fresh baked muffins most mornings from a satellite home. We enjoy the courtyard and have sat out on the balcony to look at stars. This is the first time in years I have felt I have time with my Mom that feels natural, like we are home. I toured many homes before choosing and ten made my list. There are good choices. We chose this one for proximity to my siblings and I and of course the place itself and the amenities offered that suited my mother's tastes. All I can say with the most gratitude I can muster on this page is a heart felt thank you to all at The Post Inn Village for the love and work they put in that makes up life there. You have one of the most important jobs. This is where people spend their last days and deserve to have dignity, care and freedom to be themselves. I highly recommend this place.

My grandmas health SIGNIFICANTLY went downhill since living here. When she first went in she was sharp, having great and clear conversations, zooming around in her walker. Other people that were living there that were younger than her seemed old to her. Now her mental and physical health declined so much. She is now in a wheelchair and can't walk or get up on her own. Probably because the staff finds it easier to just push people around and have them stay put rather than take the time to actually help them walk and let them roam free. Because it seems that these people forgot that MY GRANDMA pays to LIVE HERE AND BE FREE. She is not a prisoner although that is how this place likes to treat her. This is supposed to be her HOME where she can roam FREELY, see the people she loves, and LEAVE FREELY. She's kept in her cage because they won't allow her to leave her "home." She was alone for Christmas because if you take her out of that place they will not allow you to bring her back. She is now having memory issues and has troubles keeping conversation now because she's locked up in a room all day and can't see her family members. SO SO SAD. What I find horrific and hilarious is that they have a sign up in their lobby saying what their residents rights are and that they stand by them. HA. They go against SO many of them its ridiculous and heartbreaking. My grandma has also complained about the staff members treating her poorly but no one ever listens to her. They do not treat her like a human being. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT EVER LET ANYONE YOU CARE ABOUT LIVE IN THIS DISGUSTING, TERRIBLE PLACE! This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. I feel so heartbroken for my grandma being here and for every other person that has to be stuck here. This place and the staff here disgusts me and you should all be ashamed of yourselves. Karma will hit you. Here's an update... when trying to call them to figure out what the rules are for seeing my grandma they say they need to know who I am before answering. They make up rules for different people wanting to see their family members. I said I just want to know what their rules are for everyone, after being told a bunch of contradicting nonsense she told me I have to speak to the floor my grandmother is on (which i was already on the phone with because that's where they transferred me) and when I said what floor she was on and asked if I could speak with them i was hung up on. So yeah, pretty much they seem to enjoy making it difficult to see your family members. I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone. Makes me so sad.

I can say I've tried everything at the Greenway... except actually living at the Greenway…read more In my travels throughout Brampton, Revera's Greenway retirement residence is certainly one of the most interesting - and unexpected - places I've visited. You want a place where they throw the entire kitchen sink (and then some) in terms of the end user experience? This is the place for you. I had to cover an event for the publication I work with, and quickly learned that it was a "film festival" debuting works focused on seniors, as part of a cross-country initiative that's held at various retirement homes throughout Canada. Make no mistake: this is a sprawling property, and possibly one of the nicest buildings I've visited in Brampton, purpose be damned. The owners clearly spared no expense kitting this place out. That extends to the food as well. I had the opportunity to sample a number of items as the event concluded, and was bewildered when I saw chefs handing out glasses of champagne, entire racks of lamb(!!!!) and plenty of succulent appetizers. I later learned from a contact of mine that the chain went to the expense of source as many top-tier chefs as they could find to cook in the property, and given the response to these items, their efforts certainly weren't in vain. This experience was also a unique one for me, as I had the chance to sit with former Premier Bill Davis for an hour and chat with him about his own retirement, the state of the city, Patrick Brown's role as mayor of Brampton and the future for the region. It was a treasured experience (after all, the man is 89), and one I certainly wouldn't forget. The films shown during the event were also interesting, as they presented "slice of life" vignettes that focused on certain residents living at the property, and their quirks and hobbies. I certainly got the sense that many of them were shy or didn't know what to expect from the audience who came to view their work, but they seemed very impressed with the experience. My time at the Greenway was a memorable one, and I'd certainly revisit if given the chance.

I recently moved my dad and mom into the Greenway retirement home in Brampton in November of 2021…read moreand at first I was nervous to leave my parents in a home, with all the Covid-19 issues everywhere in the news. At greenway they couldn't be safer with the senior management, down to the various directors and managers, dietary aids and nurses who are screened throughly and have a tight well run strict Covid-19 for staff and visitors to abide by in order to keep everyone safe. My parents were very hesitant at first and wanted to go back home... But once they gave the excellent staff a chance , and started to open Up and take in some of the many activities they felt at home. I am extremely impressed on how well this place is run and how clean it is kept. Nurses , PSW's , management directors are always smiling and Willing to help my parents at a moment's notice. The big variety of food is tasty and always warm and fresh. The activities are abundant and are happening hourly daily. I am so happy that both my mom and dad are safe and looked after very well. I would recommend this Greenway retirement facility to any one. I would give this retirement home a 5/5 star rating! A BIG Thank you to the greenway team my siblings and I finally have piece of mind that my parents are always safe and well taken care of. Sincerely Dave
