We did the curbside pick up due to COVID-19. The store employee told us it would be about 15-20 minutes after we submitted our order before we could pick it up. We left the house and texted to let them know we had arrived. They told us it would be another 20 minutes. Our order went through at 11:55a and we arrived at 12:38p. It was 1:10p before they finally brought our kit out to us. Not only did we have to wait an exceptionally long time, outside in the car, they also forgot to include pictures of the finished paintings for reference and the painting instructions. They emailed us the instructions and reference photos, but it's hard to see anything on my tiny phone screen... I'm not entirely sure why we keep going back to this place... Maybe the 3rd time really is the charm? UPDATE: Hours have passed since we were promised emailed reference photos and instructions. Employee confirmed that the email was sent. Still waiting for the email... About ready to just ask for our money back.

My submission is on the left. What I received back is on the right.

Carole is a gifted, exceptional, creative visual artist (I recall she is a great photographer,…read moretoo). I took a painting class from her when she had her studio in Athens, AL. Her twin sister is talented, too and they both played tennis for Auburn on scholarship, which is impressive in itself! Each of her pieces isoriginal and unique and must be seen in person to be appreciated. Such exquisite texture and brilliant color and skill!!!! I especially love her paintings of local landmarks such as Burritt Museum, First Methodist Church, Huntsville skyline, Kaffeeklatsch, among many others including still lifes, tableaus, portraits of famous musicians, and famous people in general - all from an extremely unique, fresh, perspective! Looking at her website, it looks like she may have moved to N. Parkway, in Huntsville. Per her website she is offering COVID-friendly classes beginning next month. I highly recommend her as a talented passionate artist and talented, compassionate instructor! Her classes are completely intimidation free and I would recommend visiting her gallery to see her works in person - photographs just do not do them justice! Back to her classes, they are not inexpensive; however do not let that stop you, she has the talent and 29 years' experience to back it up. You should be able to find something in every price range at Carole's - as she offers original paintings, prints, photography, drawings and sketches and a collegiate series featuring both Alabama and Auburn items for sale - so, something for everyone! Here is her gallery information from her website: GALLERY in HC Blake Art & History Center, Huntsville, Alabama: 2007 North Memorial Parkway |Suite O Huntsville, AL 35810| HOURS: MON - SAT 10-2 and BY APPOINTMENT Why not get your creative on in 2021?!?!?!?! :)

Built in 1904 with funding from the Carnegie Foundation, this building was one of 2,509 libraries…read moreerected across the country. It served in this capacity from 1904-1973 when it became the First Baptists Community Center. After renovations in the early 1990's it became the Visual Arts Center, hosting art exhibits, classes for adults and children and Folk Art. Right now it is hosting Bruce Larsen's sculptures, an eclectic mix of organic and inorganic materials blended into shapes of animals and mythological creatures/ I'm looking forward to July23 when they are having a show called Hambone Folk Art. Hopefully it's Primitive Americana.

What I like most about this place is the community involvement they have. They are the ones who did the Butterfly trail all over town and now the new Dragonfly trail all over town. It adds beauty and art to the older parts of town. It's beautiful. The arts center also has art classes for children. They do them almost all year long. They are so much fun and delve into all types of media and art history at the same time. My daughter just loves taking art there. They also have classes during the summer for various age groups as well. I wish they had some for adults. One of the art teachers there teaches out of her own studio on Bank Street, as well. She does pottery classes for adults. I'm sure she does other things as well. The ladies that run the arts center are friendly and personable and always remember our names. They are so sweet and so good at their jobs. They also have an informative website for the center. You can become a member of the center and get discounts on events and classes and special notice of events as well.
