Earl's had been on my radar for awhile, but I was trying to avoid chains. No more. The lychee tini, which includes elderflower and hibiscus, tastes great. Not too sweet, just right. The truffle fries and garlic aioli were great, but the calamari was particularly exceptional. They serve theirs in plump juicy strips with a spicy yuzu (citrus fruit that tastes like a cross between a lemon and an orange) aioli with a surprising - and welcome - kick. Service is great. The restaurant was relatively peaceful for being in a mall. A nice end to a frustrating trip (as far as dining was concerned.)

Spectacular Canada Day!…read more I came to visit Canada during my 4th of July break and ended up visiting during Canada day. I hit OpenTable and found Sunset Bistro open for reservations, so I quickly made a morning reservation. Thankfully I checked OT because their hours on Yelp showed that they were closed! We both ordered coffee and the amazing Bistro Benedict and were not disappointed. The service was great, our server Jibran kept our coffee filled with coffee and kept bringing milk. The music was a little loud, but being only one of three tables this morning, it is likely more noticeable without the constant sound of other tables talking. Their food is of elevated quality and the service is good. There are two parts of the restaurant. When you enter, there is a bar area which is just average in appearance. Then you get to the main dining area where it is nicely decorated and plenty of light entering the area. The dining area is befitting of an upscale restaurant. We ordered the following: 1. Mixed Green Salad (small $7.95, large $13.95). 2. Fish & Chips (1 pc $18.95, 2 pc $26.95). 3. Baked Pistachio Salmon ($26.95). 4. Bread Pudding and Ice Cream ($9.99). The Mixed Green Salad has tomatoes,  cucumber, matchstick carrots, sweet peppers, onion, goat cheese candied walnuts, and tossed in a lemon vinaigrette. The salad was good but needed more vinaigrette. We asked for more and they gave us a container with more, which made it perfect. Another thing: we ordered small but they misheard me and gave us large. They were nice enough to change our bill to reflect the price of a small. We ordered two pieces for the Fish & Chips. The fish is haddock, beer battered, with fries, signature tartar sauce, and cole slaw. The haddock was plump, fresh, flakey, and tasty. The batter was crispy but a little too thick. My mother and son didn't have the strength to cut through it. The Baked Pistachio Salmon had a pistachio crusted salmon, roasted sweet potatoes,  warm spinach, seasonal vegetables,  and drizzled maple butter. The glaze had a strange taste. I found out that they put Dijon mustard on the fish to hold the pistachios in place. I usually don't like Dijon mustard it it wasn't overly strong. The mustard should be listed in their menu I think. On the positive side, the salmon was plump, fresh, flakey, and tasty. It appears that this restaurant serves good seafood. I will have to come back to try other items. The Bread Pudding and Ice Cream was smooth and delicious. It is a custard with raisins and rum butter sauce, with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. The custard was smooth. I hardly tasted the rum which is good because I don't like alcohol. The whipped cream was fresh and light. There are 4 parking spots nearby on Elizabeth St that are free for 20 mins until 18:00. I happened to arrive at 17:59 and was able to park for free for our entire dinner! There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. The burrata was one of the best I've had. The combination of the cheese with the honey and thyme was incredible, along with the grilled sourdough. Will be back simply for the burrata and will have to try some other items on the menu. I will say that my preference is the outdoor space compared to the indoor restaurant. We felt like the indoor atmosphere was a bit cold, if that makes sense! The tables and seating were so far apart, so it didn't feel very intimate. I'd probably opt to sit outdoor if you're going with a partner, but again, this is just my preference. Service is also fast and the staff is very friendly.

I see they also have private rooms available to book for special occasion as well. Parking at the hotel is expensive, but within 10 minute walk you can find street parking and city parking lots that only charge $2/hr. They don't offer brunch of Sundays but their regular lunch menu is pretty decent as well. We enjoyed the steak and frites, trout, and octupus that we got. The coffee items are average, don't expect specialty cafe quality. Service was pretty good overall. It does get busy during 12-1pm peak, but our waiter was very friendly and came over to check on us a few times throughout. But ultimately, you're definitely here for the view, so be sure you specify that you want a window seat when you make the reservation.

I observed a manager apologize to some people at a nearby table for the slow service, but we never received a similar (or any) apology. Our toddler is ordinarily very well behaved in public, but he sat in his high-chair for so long that he started to wail. Regarding the food, when it actually arrived, the portions were really small for the prices they are charging. I could have probably cooked something that tasted better at home, and I'm definitely no chef. Overall the place feels very grungy. This was our first time here and we decided that we're not going to be coming back.

My limbs, hands, nose, etc. were ice cold 30min into our dining experience. I could have used a heated blanket or snow suit to dine this place. We brought it up to staff and they basically brushed it off and said they were hot so "too bad." Ordered oysters and they came out completely submerged underwater. No joke, my oysters were floating in a pool. I think they let them sit in the kitchen for a while before they came out. Considered asking for a fresh order (and they offered) but was worried they would just replate them. Asked for them to be removed from the bill. Not in any hurry to come back... like anytime in the next 8-10yrs. If there was a manger around (never saw one - bunch of kids working), maybe it would be better? Who is the adult in charge at this place? Don't waste your time or money. I hope I don't have the double dragon tonight when I get home.

Lovely patio with shade (it was 30+) and we were fixing our table number and how everything works. You go to get a disposable menu, order at the window, and a delightful server comes to your table with your food. We had the oysters, and chicken wings (not pictured. Ate too fast). The wings were plump and juicy- mine were lightly dusted/battered so had a bit of a fried chicken feel, which I loved! I got dill flavour, and ranch dip. Hubby had a very tasty lager, and it was just the perfect patio lunch! Will definitely return- total neighbourhood gem!
