I have yet to taste their food but it will be next on my list. My daughter got a flat tire and she and I were attempting (poorly) to fix it. The owner of Bus Boy happen to drive by, saw us struggling and was kind enough to help us put on the spare. He willingly risked what could have been 3rd degree burns sitting on hot asphalt in 106 degree weather and suffered the extreme irritation of using the inefficient tools that come with the car's spare tire kit. We are immensely grateful for his generosity and are looking forward to trying his undoubtedly exceptional food. These guys came to our work place. So I tried the Frito Pie. Basically chili, cheese, Fritos, & onions. Absolutely the worst chili I ever ate. No beans, (WTF)? I could not get the taste of the grease out of my mouth for hours. Then there was little sticks like ya fine on thyme, & a beard hair. To top it off the food was cold. I can do much better by opening a can of Nally's chili and making my own Frito pie. One of my co-workers got the chili dog and he said it was horrible. Same greasy after taste. So, some of their other food may be good, but judging from the chili someone doesn't care about the quality of their food. If you do try the chili you're gonna want a tongue scraper to get the grease off. Real chili has beans, other wise it's just sloppy joes! read more

Dinner on a Double Decker Bus, a short book by KS. The only way it could have been better is if it was the Double Dutch Bus..... The Bus Boy Mobile Kitchen is a trip, on ALL the senses. A culinary journey in the upstairs restaurant seating or a food truck experience downstairs with a different menu. Spoke with the chef (16 years culinary) and the owner (30 years food service). All good things start with a great story, this might very well be one of those. The Food Truck/Double Decker Bus started as a typical DD in England. English guy imports them to Southern California. They work for a while for racetracks, then get sold for tourbuses, BM truggies or in this case a killer concept. The sit down restaurant is the upstairs and has a different menu than the food truck fare. Both not only looked great, but tasted great as well. Interior like nothing I have ever seen with changing color backlit tabletops. They use local beef from Bentley Ranch, Dessert combos from LA Bakery, Ice Cycle Creamery, and some place in Carson they get the fritters from. Something with the regs so plastic (looks and cuts like the real thing) knives and forks, everything can be recycled and they encourage it. Food arrives upstairs through a dumbwaiter system with much fanfare. So bucket list items... double decker bus, check. High end dinner on a bus, check. Also my first Beef Wellington, on a bus! Consider it a destination dinner. We both thoroughly enjoyed our food, the staff and the concept. There are so many well thought out ideas on this thing it takes a while to discover them all. They plan on staying in Carson most of the time, but might be out in our neck of the woods for a couple events, as the owner explained a windy day can end up being a night away from home. The bridges and Washoe Valley can be a hard path. You need to check this out. Stat. read more

Had them come to our work today since we had to cancel the company picnic due to COVID19 and it worked out great. The food was tasty and all the Associates I talked to were very pleased. We ordered in advance to help make the lunchtime go smoother and reduce the wait time for Associates. I had the salad and was super happy - all fresh ingredients with quality lettuce and a yummy variety of tomatoes, berries and blue cheese. My wife actually follows the truck on Facebook. I follow Shoe Tree where the truck is at on this day, and where I found out about their visit. Atmosphere - I am not rating this, as it is just a food truck, okay not just a food truck, a beautiful modern British double decker with a trailer. We ordered from the outside window. There is also an option to eat upstairs on the second deck. Food Dinner - I was listening to the person in front of me. They talked me into the lamb sliders. They probably used King's Hawaiian buns, fine. Duck fat ground lamb just screamed to me and I wanted chow down on them. The sliders were finished off with quick pickled red onions and tzatziki sauce. The tzatziki sauce over powered everything, which was a major disappointment. My daughter's dinner - She had the chicken tenders. I finished off what she did not eat. $15 paid for three tenders and fries. The one tender I ate the breading was over cooked. I know they use gluten free flour but that should not have impacted the overall cooking of the chicken. Service - Alright. We placed our order at the window outside of the bus. When you buy over $40 worth of food, and with today's cash free society. I paid with a credit card. Well that was an issue for them. I had to go into the bus to finish the transaction. The first floor of the bus was designed for placing orders this way, and I surprised they did not use this method the whole time. Ordering was easy, and they actually brought our food out to us while sitting outside of Shoe Tree. Future -Uncertain, maybe after they have some more time under their belts. read more

Fabulous garlic Parmesan frites. Ground lamb sliders, excellent with onion, tomato and sauce. Fish and chips, excellent. Sausage sandwich was messy but delicious. Lunch is usually served at the lower window, ala food truck style, but the day was very cold so our small group got to go upstairs. What a fun place with red white and blue color scheme, reminiscent of a 50's diner. Great music system too. One issue with our meals was that the sauce containers needed lids because the sauce had spilled over. Also, no coffee, tea, cocoa or hot drinks yet! But I think these will be added shortly. We were glad to have a short tour by the owner and saw the small but efficient dumb waiter. You won't want to miss this place. We had a fun lunch. read more

Currently, Bus Boy is cooking out of the Calvary Chapel on Tuesday through Saturday. Lucky me - I work 4 minutes away! Pick-up orders are available between 11:00AM-2:45PM and 4:00PM-7:45PM. Order online. My household has ordered all sliders (beef, salmon, and lamb), chicken tenders (huge!) and sweet potato fries. All yummy! But my favorite? The garlic parmesan fries! Just look at the picture! Super fresh every time. My co-worker also loves the lemon cheesecake. She says it has actual lemon pieces and is the best she's tried! I do like this concept, and they have done an amazing job on the conversion of the bus. The food here is fantastic. My fave is the fish and chips. They have yummy drinks, and the food comes up a dumb waiter from the kitchen below. So cool! For starters, my family and I enjoyed the double decker bus atmosphere which is soooooooo unique! As for the food, they have the best wild salmon salad! What I find unique is that it was wild not farmed fish. In addition they have gluten free battered fish and chips and also gf battered chicken. They are both very tasty! Great dining experience from the 2nd story. Most food trucks you will freeze (winter now) outside but it was warm in the upstairs dinning. Service was fast and the food was excellent. We had a salmon slider with garlic fries and fish and chips. We will be back and maybe consider hiring for a corporate event for our staff and customers. What fun to eat fish and chips upstairs in this double decker bus. Lots of attention to details, like a remote at your table that allows you to change the color of your table. Your food comes up from the kitchen in a dumb waiter and someone brings it to your table. I did feel the bus move a few times, maybe due to the movements of other diners. Best of all, the fish and chips @12$ were delicious. You can upgrade your chips (fries) to garlic parmesan or other sides for 1.50$ There is a sit down dinner menu featuring Bently ranch beef and an outdoor menu of sliders and fish and chips. My fish and chips came with tartar sauce, ranch and a small slaw. I was too full to try but they have an interesting dessert menu - fritters ala mode. No beer sales. But I was able to pop out after ordering and visit a neighboring truck. Caught the bus at Silver Strike CrossFit last week for dinner. Ordered from the downstairs menu (sliders and tenders with fries). It was raining out so they let us eat upstairs which was nice of them. The bus is decked out- super clean, fun interior including lighting, swag and a dumbwaiter for service from downstairs to upstairs (smart!). The food was fantastic. The tenders looked dark but were juicy and well seasoned. The lamb sliders were substantial and very good. Garlic Parmesan fries were also amazing. Best part of the whole experience was the service. The two guys working were so friendly and professional and we loved our experience. Next time, we will go upstairs to try out the high-brow fair. Welcome to Carson, Bus Boy! Don't waste your time or money. Had the Italian sausage sandwich today along with the upgraded garlic and parmesan fries at a motorcycle event at Battle Born Harley in Carson City. I'll start with the undercooked sausage. It was about 4 inches long. Didn't know you could buy them this small. No flavor. It was covered with raw, not cooked, onions and pepper slices. As for the fries, served cold and soggy. Funny thing, there were only two of us in line so it wasn't like they were overloaded. I don't mind spending $9.00 for lunch, but make it something I can enjoy. I guess the draw is the converted double decker bus. Too bad you can't eat the bus, it may have tasted better. Next time I'll stick with what works... walk a block up the street to the Maverick and get a good gas station sandwich. read more

Average food at very high prices, had the fish and chips. Soggy fries and in my opinion underdone fish, also soggy. $15 for 3 pieces of fish and some fries with the usual condiments. We went to the Minden Moo today and saw the double decker bus. We went inside and talked to the owner and his wife and two other employees. Plus we went upstairs to check out the layout. We ordered our lunch and loved how the food made it way upstairs in the dumb waiter. We are going to follow them on facebook and go visit them again. Prices are very reasonable. It was a neat idea, but too pricey for what it delivers. We had the Beef Wellington with garlic mashed with gravy and garlic fries. Which was just okay, but didn't have the ham, very little mushrooms and was overly seasoned with fennel. And the Salmon Wellington with root vegetable fries and garlic fries. That was just okay as well. There were only starches available as sides as they were out of asparagus. They need the guidance of an experienced chef. Plastic forks and cheap paper plates for a $31 meal is ridiculous. Not worth going back. read more

It was okay. Fun experience. Staff was friendly. Food was okay. For $20 salmon, it was dry and on a paper plate, I was kinda hoping at least something to have me crawling back in a week. My friend said the fish I make is better, but she enjoyed the asparagus. I had fish and chips with Parmesan Garlic fries. It was pretty good. The price was pretty high for eating out of cardboard, no lemon, and condiments in a packet. I also got a drink from the bike shop and it was expired by a month. Still drank it. The soda was expensive considering it was a can soda with no refills. The blueberry fritter with raspberry was great (donut with raspberry syrup drizzled). The bus idea is unique and though it made me dizzy to sit upstairs, we still had a good time. We would only go back if we were bored, and or they were the only place open, to be honest.
