Happy Hour fun. Brussel Sprouts and Fish Tacos with a Lager.

Happy Hour is the way. The chili Beer and Lagers are my go to here. $2 16oz Beer for Happy Hour, and the small bites menu is good for a snack and go. Also, can't go wrong with a good burger.

Nice central location short waking distance midway between the Nevada State Museum and the capitol. Nice atmosphere, large with screens. Great sevice although food took a while but that's was not the norm supposedly. Great beer selection, duh. Good menu variety. Good food. Why 4 not 5 stars? Weak Happy Hour. $2 off pints and wine and app food deals BUT they do smaller portions. Sort of defeats the purpose of Happy Hour prices and gives off a bait and switch vibe. We ordered the fried pickles and brussel sprouts. Check out the photo. The fried pickles were 3 slim pieces, pretty ridiculous. Brussel sprouts were night and day difference on the portion size. I had to ask the server if he ate some of our pickles.

I went during lunch and it was perfect timing. I decide to get the fried chicken sandwich but make it Nashville hot with some sweet potato fries. It was great and had a kick that I could actually taste. They had a new waitress training at the time and she did a great job. No complaints, no food was left, and we were in and out with no extended wait or any issues.

If you don't appreciate your regulars and kick them out when they complain BEN, you shouldn't be a manager! Get control of your bar! Get out of the kitchen! Melissa was great as always, what the hell is wrong with management???

After exploring the area, we decided on enjoy a beer (or two) and some food. Well we walked in and were quickly seated. Our server, sorry forgot your name, was helpful and able to answer our questions, we decided on a few items and our party of six shared them. We ordered two pizzas (pepperoni and a capitol combo), we got the pretzel, caesar salad, BBQ brewmaster plate and a few beers. First off the pizzas are delicious and easy choice for anyone who comes here, it will not miss. The bbq platter was also very good, the portions are not huge but each sausage was tasty. The pig wings were tender and flavorful with the hot honey sauce. The pretzel was also great and paired with the stone ground mustard from the bbq plate was excellent. The only item that I think I would change would be the Memphis wings, they were on the salty side for all of us, the flavor is there but a lil too salty, I think the hot honey sauce would have been a hit on those wings. We tried a few beers the lager, Juicy IPA and an amber ale. I skipped the lager, my dad enjoyed his brew. As for the other two, I found them to be refreshing with a nice balance of hops for each of them and a great companion to the dishes we ordered. If we are ever in the area again we would definitely stop by.

Great Basin is a solid brewery for IPA drinkers their Icky (not GF) is a must try. Service was quick, seated fast, they have a large indoor area along with a smaller patio 8-10 tables outside. The menu has a decent number of gluten free options pizza, buns and salads. Shared fryer so fries aren't safe. Otherwise cool brewery.

Staff were friendly and wonderful as always. This is one of our go to spots in Carson and I think the kitchen was having an off night. Food was very slow to come out and when it finally did we were a little disappointed. My husband had the Cajun chicken Caesar wrap, but there was nothing Cajun about it. He said it just tasted like Caesar. I had the crispy fish tacos and they were not crispy at all. The usual golden brown outside was soft and just tasted doughy. The new chipotle sauce was nothing to write home about. I preferred the green sauce they used to have on it. The fries were top notch as always. We will be back, this by no means deters us, but was just our experience this trip.

That Great Basin is even better than it was when I first visited a few years ago shows how committed they are to continuing to providing a fantastic dining experience. The Brisket Sandwich special, Garlic Fries, Hot Pretzel, Pan Asian Noodle Salad, Brussel Sprouts and Pork Belly Mac & Cheese were on our table today. It would be tough to pick a favorite...everything was outstanding. Service and ambiance are excellent, as always.

Great selection of food. Awesome calamari fries. Excellent customer service and good drinks. The rewards are also fantastic, so please sign up

    Very salty food. Big disappointment.

I can't believe I'm actually going to give this review a one star review. Great Basin Brewing has been a favorite of ours for well over a year almost 2 years now. It's been our go to place. Today being Father's Day, we were out and about in town and decided we would eat there. All the way there I kept bragging to my grandson how great this place is and it's our go to spot. yada yada yada. It wasn't very busy and we were seated very quickly. The service has always been pretty friendly. The service today was adequate and I'll get to that in a second. My grandson ordered the pork belly, Mac and cheese. I kept saying how that is a really good choice and he's really going to like it. My wife ordered the half rack ribs with fries and coleslaw. I had what I think is called the butchers platter with ribs, chicken wings, and pork belly. The food arrived and looked pretty darn good. But that's where it ends. My wife kept saying how salty the food was. And I got to thinking about that as I was eating my wings with the so-called Memphis dust flavoring on them. Those were equally salty so I thought wow OK maybe it's just our taste buds. Then I tried my ribs and they were also salty. I tried my wife's ribs just to see if they were that salty and come to find out they really were and dry. The fries that came with my wife's food tasted like they were old like they've been sitting out for a while. The coleslaw was also bland. After bragging about the pork belly and cheese, my grandson stated that it was pretty bland with very little flavor. So I tried it just to see what was going on and sure enough it was really lacking something what I don't know. I'm thinking garlic because it was pretty darn bland. I honestly hate to give a review like this because I really like this place as I said before it's been our go to spot. Now, as far as the service the server, she was very friendly, but that was pretty much it, after getting our food she didn't even check on us until it was about time for us to leave and she brought us our check. It's just kind of weird because there's a couple of servers here that are exceptional. So I don't know what's going on, but this was a very big letdown for a couple of regular customers. As usual, the place is clean and spacious with plenty of TVs to enjoy sports. In the end, the beverages were about the best part of the meal. It was Father's Day, so my beer was free so thank you for that maybe this was just a rough day. I don't know. I don't know if you have new cooks or what but this was pretty bad considering how much we like this place and how good it has always been.

A lot could improve. After an 8 hour day of packing up and unloading a u-haul, my dad and I wanted comfort and a cold one. We got seated at the last resort high top table that didn't match any of the other wooden ones, all I could smell was the metal and both our chairs were wobbly. It's all good but our waters took a while to come out and then my dad's beer took 10 minutes before she came back to tell us they were changing the keg. When we got our beers, they were filled to the brim and had no carbonation. Is that like a thing now, with beers being flat? I looked around and the other beers I noticed didn't have bubbles either. Anyway, since we were uncomfortable we ordered a few items from the happy hour to share. I will say the food was good but they need help with service, the design/layout of the tables, clean out the tap lines, and more comfortable seating.

But at the same time, it would be silly to hear a server say bad things about the menu items to their guests. So, she was just doing her job. The bad - The food. Of all the things we ordered, the cheese curds were the best thing cuz...how could you go wrong with frozen items you throw in a fryer? Anyway, we also ordered the Fried Pickles. I enjoy fried pickles, but holy sh*t these were SALTY! These pickles were more like chips. They were actually light and crispy which is unusual as fried pickles are typically still soft and and keep their integrity after being fried in a batter. These, however were like, dehydrated pickles that were battered and deep fried. I really liked how crispy they were, but with how salty they were, we couldn't finish it. Chicken Pot Pie - one of the more popular dishes ordered. It looked great when presented. The top crust looked nice and thin like a cracker, but when I dug in, the filling was runnier than what I am used to. But more importantly, the flavor was off. I assume they use a frozen pie crust because it didn't taste buttery at all. It had a weird chemically taste. I missed having that rich buttery crust a pot pie should have. The filling didn't taste great either. Also, had a weird chemically taste to it. I almost think they use canned chicken based on the flavor and texture it had. I was so looking forward to a homey comforting pot pie. It's not often I get to eat one of these, but this one fell way short of my expectations. The Lamb Burger - My husband loves lamb and it's not often you see a lamb burger anywhere. He was so excited to have this, but was so disappointed after taking his first bite. He said it was so bland. I took a bite. And while it did taste of lamb, I agreed it lacked seasoning. Now, THIS needed some of the salt that were in those pickles. Lol! Foxy Fried Chicken - A panko fried chicken breast. It was good. Mashed potatoes were good and the veggies. I didn't expect this dish to be spicy though. I don't know if the cook went heavy handed on the pepper, but the veggies and mashed potatoes it was served with had a kick to them. Meh. All in all, we wouldn't return. There was nothing we had that made me feel like this place had potential and worth making another visit to. We did order quite a few things and everything, but the curds were lackluster and a disappointment.

We made our 2nd trip of the day to get my husband the forgot his swim shorts and eyed the ones here so we made a 2nd trip back to get them. I ordered from the food truck outside. Very nice, very young guy took my order. Two smash burgers with cheddar cheese and no onions. I asked if I should get the extra patty for three additional dollars but he said he thought that the burger was plenty big with the single patty. When the food came out my burgers both had onions and Swiss cheese, not cheddar and my fries were ice cold and super greasy. I asked for some fresh fries, but by the time I got them and got back to the table, my burger was cold. I ate it without complaining about the onions and the wrong cheese because I hate to waste meat. And by the way, that beef patty was skimpy. Pretty much the whole burger was toppings, which were under the Patty so it made the burger look bigger. It did have good flavor, but it was unsatisfying in size. Also the fries were hot now but they were very soggy. I got pale ale from the bar as well as a nonalcoholic canned beer for my man. The bartender honestly seemed very disinterested in helping me. I paid and tipped and went back to the table. I didn't think the Pale Ale was anything special, it seemed kind of watery and flat. The nonalcoholic canned beer was very good according to my man. Pretty sad when the best part of your meal came in a can. Between my cost at the food truck and my cost at the bar, the total for lunch was $58. I would likely not return to this business.

For food, we ordered the Sticky Fried Chicken Sandwich--Korean BBQ, mayo, crispy onions, and kimchi slaw on a brioche bun--along with a half order of fries. The sandwich was excellent, and the fries were equally good. Definitely a solid food choice. I looked back at my review of South Lake Brewing from 2019, and I wasn't overly impressed with their beer selection back then either. That said, I'd definitely return for the food.
