My family and I went here on a whim the other day because we passed it and thought it sounded so fun- Caketeria and the building was SO cute. We literally circled around Newtown and came back to stop in. We were worried at first that it wasn't going to be a bakery where you can purchase items but just one to order and taste at but that is not the case! We checked online to see that they offer a full range of cupcakes daily and other yummy treats and boy did they not disappoint!! They had one flourless option for anyone who is gluten free and it was insanely delicious - the cake was so soft and it was topped with the creamiest chocolate mousse! My mom tried the peanut butter cup one and she said the cake was so good that she now wants to head back and have her birthday cake from there! On top of all the yumminess the prices were great and the lady who helped us was the SWEETEST!! She was super friendly and gave us a little history lesson on the place and was just so friendly and nice to talk to! We will definitely be back several times. I'm already dreaming of more sweets! For any of our specialty cake needs, The Caketeria is our go-to place. They're very easy to place orders with. They have always delivered by design and look of the cake we've ordered. The cake quality/taste however have been hit or miss. They've been on the dry side a good number of times. Request for a 4 layer cake so that there will be more layers of filling to compensate. The filling (whether it be cream or fruit spread) although is good has never wowed me. As a matter a fact, it hasn't been one that stands out & for the price of the cakes I expect more. I do not live in the area, but was arranging an event at a nearby restaurant and wanted a really special cake. All my dealings with The Caketeria were with Beth--by email or phone. She was wonderful. I zeroed in on a cake shown in their online gallery, and when our party arrived at the restaurant, the cake had been delivered, and it was even more amazing than I had imagined. I had requested a special monogram on the cake, and it was executed beautifully. I was so excited to get this cake- it was BEAUTIFUL, but unfortunately the taste did not match up. I read multiple reviews stating their pound cakes were amazing, but unfortunately, it was very dry and the guests did not eat the cake, but left it on the plate. I stopped in the other day to pick up 4 cupcakes since I always pass the shop but have never been inside. Their cupcakes looked awesome, and I was really excited to come home and try them. However, when I did so, I was very disappointed. The icing was incredibly hard and didn't seem fresh. The oreo cupcake's icing was bland on top of that. The cake itself was dry and very dense. My husband & I got married in November & Beth and The Caketeria made cakes for a few of our wedding events, my shower, the rehearsal dinner (groom's cake) and our wedding cake. They absolutely nailed every single cake, not only did they look amazing but they also tasted great too.They did an AMAZING job on on our wedding cake, a "naked" style almond pound cake with raspberry filling.
