It's no surprise that this bakery got 4.5 stars, but why only 15 reviews? Truly a hidden gem. Nestled next to a house, Ann's Cake Pan is hard to find. I drove past it. It's not a brick and mortar bakery. From generations of recipes perfected and tastings in the owner's living room, Ann's Cake Pan has a nice warmth of a mom and pop feel (Ann made cake for her 7 kids). Although the cake tasting room is atypical at the owner's living room and not in a fantasy show room, the cakes are far from ordinary. Ann's royal icing flowers are so realistic that my fiancee actually thought they were real and couldn't tell the difference from the pictures. At $100 - $150, although the flowers are expensive, they will make your cake stand out. In addition to craftsmanship, the best part about the cakes is that they are so moist! After doing another cake tasting at a bakery in the area, I was relieved that Ann's cakes aren't dry. In the cake tasting, I tried 8 flavors and my favorite flavors were the chocolate, fudge swirl, and raspberry. The fudge swirl was my favorite. The vanilla buttercream was nice and smooth. At $4 - $4.50/slice, the cake prices are pretty affordable and comparable to the area. The service was just as good as the cake. I met with Bill, he was friendly, resourceful, and to the point. Although he was busy making cakes for the weekend, he spent over a half hour with my family explaining the different types of cakes and some tricks to add flair without breaking the bank. He even gave me ribbon to take home and a Philadelphia wedding magazine. I was impressed with this level of service with I didn't expect at first glance. It was great to see the bakery at work. They were busy making 6 or 7 cakes. They all looked great, just as good as the pictures. I had a wonderful and fun cake tasting experience. I told them the theme I wanted (Mickey Mouse) and they sent me suggested designs, pictures of cakes they had made. Pick up was a breeze and the cake looked exactly as I expected. I ordered a cake for my daughter's baby shower and was completely overjoyed with the service I received from the first phone call to picking up up the most beautiful and delicious cake. I was asked to drop off "paint chip colors" to make sure the colors of the ombré icing were exact and when I arrived I was given a sample plate of the many flavors and fillings for my daughter to sample. Tasted this cake at a bridal expo with a friend a decade ago and have been hooked ever since! When it was my turn to get married, this was the easiest decision of the entire planning effort. The tasting, like the business itself, was quaint and personal. If you're looking for slick and corporate, this is not the place for you. But if you want to support a family business, and eat your cake samples in a living room in a private setting (just you and your partner, no other couples), this is your place. Note you cannot pay with a credit card, cash or check only. You're not getting a slick brochure, or slick customer service. You're getting delicious beautiful cake made by a family of bakers. They're not a family of ad execs. But this down-to-earth business style is in no way a deterrent. They listened to our design input and made it easy to order. When we ordered our wedding cake I literally ordered 100 extra servings and gave it away as a wedding favor. Everyone said it was the best favor - and best wedding cake - they'd ever gotten. When we came home from our honeymoon *three weeks later* we ate wedding cake from our fridge and it was still wonderful. Since then I have ordered father's day cake, birthday cakes and an occasional "surprise, it's cake!" cakes. We have used this place for cakes for a number of occasions. We have always been very satisfied. But, one event takes the star, The wedding cake. We used them for the first time in 1998 for our wedding. They delivered as promised. And probably the only memorable thing from our meal that afternoon was the cake. All this time, years later, people still comment on how good that cake tasted. It was moist and tasted better than any other wedding cake they had before. Can I say it again, people still comment on how good the cake TASTED. Wedding cakes usually are bland and not memorable for how it tastes. It is usually the decoration or cake cutting, etc. that people remember about it. And their decoration skills were superior to a lot of other cakes I've seen. We received a cake with our wedding package and it was delicious. Ann's makes a FANTASTIC product! However, the customer service is something to be desired. We worked with Bill for most of the time leading up to our big day. Nothing was properly explained to us from day one and when we asked for something in writing, he scribbled the information on a plain sheet of paper in handwriting that was very difficult to decipher. We dealt with John one day and immediately thought that he should handle customer communications. Overall the cake was beautiful and tasted amazing- our guests are still talking about it a week later. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this bakery is! I work in Horsham and needed a last minute birthday cake. Most area bakeries are closed on Mondays but not Ann's Cake Pan. I stopped in and found a commercial kitchen, not the retail bakery I was expecting. Bill was gracious and offered to bake a cake for me that afternoon and have it ready at the end of the day. He baked me a fudge chip cake with buttercream frosting. It was beautifully decorated and he even included the candles! They did my wedding cake and it got more compliments than my dress. The flowers they created were gorgeous and looked real and they were able to create a dye for the icing to match our wedding colors perfectly. Cons: We were able to taste their cakes a few times prior to our wedding and knew they were very good. However, on our wedding day, the cake was a little more dry and definitely not as moist or light as when we tried them in the past. We wish it had been the same quality as before... I sampled this cake years ago at an event for The Breathing Room, at the time I couldn't believe how good the cake was. As my daughter planned her wedding, I came across their name again and suggested we check them out. We were not disappointed. We went for a cake tasting where we were offered 8 different flavors of pound cake. My daughter chose three varieties, orange chocolate chip, raspberry lemonade, and pumpkin. There was much joking about the pumpkin being out of season since the wedding was in May, however the groom was a big fan of pumpkin. They stayed with a simple design to match their theme, although they were torn because of the gorgeous flowers that they could have added! The only dessert they offered at the reception was the wedding cake, and it was delicious. The pumpkin, was gone in a heartbeat, the poor groom only got one piece! Every flavor we had, had big fans.
