Jan ordered the fish and chips. I thought it was the best we've had in Ireland and Scotland. I ordered the chicken sandwich on a Chibatta bun and it was below average. The chicken was cut into small strips, like you might find in a salad. I had a couple of bites that were all bread and it was difficult to keep the small strips on the sandwich. The bacon on the sandwich did little to help the overall flavor of the sandwich. Service is based on placing your order at the bar and waiting for it to be delivered. When the server delivered our order we were too busy looking at the food to notice that we had no ketchup or malt vinegar. Jan had to go and hunt that down in the restrauant. I struggle to remember anywhere in Scotland that I've been served haggis that was less than delicious. Element certainly wasn't it. If you didn't have enough flavors with all the extra sides it comes with, they also give you gravy to pour on anything you want. Thanksgiving basically came early this night. But as I looked around and admired all the bookshelf's and all the families have a nice dinner with their loved ones, I just thought about how happy I was. I was finally here! This was the start of my trip. Queens Arms has set a high ceiling on great experiences in Scotland.
