My husband and I decided to joined The Camp because we knew that if we joined a regular gym, we'd find any excuse/reason why we did not need/want to go. Since the workouts at The Camp are with a group of people, it makes us feel accountable and motivated to go each day. Being a part of The Camp, you are led each day by trainers/coaches that teach you the proper movements, breaks down the areas that are being targeted and encourages you, regardless of your ability. Each day you work a different part of your body, including legs, arms, cardo and full body. Walking into the space each day can be intimidating when you see all of the equipment spread across the floors, but you are shown how to do each exercise before jumping into the workout. Problem is that as you get stronger, the coaches get sneaky and drop heavier weights in front of you. :o) Not only the workouts, but they offer challenges. My husband and I are on our second challenge to loose the weight that we have gained over the years. They give you a diet plan, offer supplements and of course the workouts. You are weighed every Monday and have to "Check In" through social media to help keep you accountable. As long as you follow the program it truly does work. My yo-yo dieting has stopped and I make better choices now. Both of us feel great and I still can't get over the transformation that my body has made in just the 5 months that we have been members. I was always active in sports and liked to do physical things, but I have never had muscles like I do now. Our first day there, we were welcomed by so many nice people and we have a great group that we now workout with every morning, 6 days a week. They help to make the workout fun and we all encourage each other. I really do not feel like I would have met this many people at a gym or have so many people encouraging me. We have made some great friendships through this place. Let me start off by saying my trial class went great. The members (NOT STAFF) were very nice, however, it all went down hill when my rate couldn't be honored. I traveled 400 miles to Tracy from Corona & I was desperate looking for a new gym that can accommodate me. & I was so excited coming here even though it was a 35 min drive. The staff wasn't even paying attn to what I said over the phone when I called and she had me repeat myself. Even after explaining that I used to work for the camp. I wasn't paying for it but my previous rate was $107 she immediately said yeah we can only honor it if you're a teacher, veteran, etc. I said no I used to have that rate without it. I've been a part of the camp for a while & even then she didn't care. She even started to argue with me that it was a hard no, they called the camp that I was at to go over my agreement I emailed them and she said I was paying $107 because I worked there I said. You have it all wrong because I wasn't paying anything when I worked there. At this point I said to myself I definitely don't want to come back to this place. Fast fwd I found another The camp on the opposite side of town that honored my rate and even welcomed me to town. The customer service here overall was crap. read more

I completed my first challenge! Went from 172.6 to 150.2 in six weeks and feeling great! I haven't been this fit since before my first daughter was born 8 years ago. I Still struggle with being an emotional eater. I also have high anxiety and depression and I turn to food and my bed to make me feel better. I also struggle with nerve pain and looking at my family health issues I Could end up with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and gout, so I decided to take my health into my own hands. The Camp is AMAZING! I finally finished my challenges and man were they difficult but fun and completely achievable. The staff at the Modesto location have become like family to me and have supported me through this entire adventure to become healthy. I have personally gone through three back surgeries before going to The Camp. I was afraid that the intense workouts would injure me more but it has only helped in my recovery. And I'm not alone in that. Everyone that comes here has some hurdle they are trying to get over, whether it's surgeries, ailments, or just being overweight. That's what makes this place great because no one is there to judge you. We are all on the same team. I finished my first transformation. I did not meet my goal I was 4-5 pounds short. Thanksgiving and a mini vacation during the transformation did not help my results. I will have to admit that is was very difficult the first week. I did not think I was going to be able to do this. My muscles hurt so bad I could barely walk. The food takes a little adjusting to because it is so limited of what you can eat and it can get a little boring. But it is very simple which I do like. I'm not really into cooking so I like quick and easy things. Even though I did not reach my goal weight in my first transformation I have had other accomplishments. My clothes are fitting very loose, my blood pressure is dropping and i feel much better. I have tried many diets and going to the gym many times over the years. There is just something about this place that is different. I believe it is the trainers all the support you get and working out with other people that are going through the same struggles. I have met some really great people. I will be starting my 2nd challenge in January and will be working very hard to lose the 20 lbs this time around. read more

I am one of the lucky ones that was in the first group of Challengers when The Camp Modesto opened in January 2016. I was at a crossroad knowing I needed to change my life but scared to do it. I took a chance, contacted The Camp, and attended an orientation. I felt like the room disappeared and Martin (he and his wife Carmina are the owners) was just talking to me. I desperately wanted to sign up that day but there was no way I could afford it. When I got home I was bummed but when I shared everything I'd learned, my brother said he'd loan me the money. He didn't want it to stand in my way of a better life. Another Camper and I were at the first 4 am workout the day the Challenge started and I won't lie I was scared. We survived and I never felt so accomplished. What I quickly learned was that The Camp and it's staff are not the norm. They actually not only care about the Campers but they invest in us. You are never a number or a key card at The Camp. They know your name and if you go MIA, they are looking for you. Even now, two and a half years and over a thousand Campers later, they know who you are and what your story is. The first time around I successfully completed two Challenges and even though I didn't make weight my third Challenge, it was life changing. I fully believe in this program and returned this year for an Alumni Challenge. I am now nearing completion of my 3rd Alumni Challenge having lost 49 lbs so far! The program incorporates a strict nutritional program as well as intense physical training. More importantly they provide support unlike I'd ever seen. You never workout alone, your fellow Campers are like extended family, and I can honestly say we inspire each other to push forward even when we want to lay down and tap out. Is it easy, no but becoming overweight did not happen overnight either. As they say at The Camp, Change is uncomfortable but it's ok to be uncomfortable. I trust Martin and Carmina with my life and I know that even when I couldn't believe in myself, they never stopped. If you are ready to get out of your own way (even if you aren't sure you are) give The Camp a shot! I promise you won't regret it. Update 7/10/18 It's another long one so buckle in... I'm an emotional person. Some days it's a good thing, even an asset but others it is overwhelming. Yesterday was both. Coming to the end of my Alumni Challenge filled me with so many emotions that it has taken me a full 24 hours to put it into words. So please bare with me as I try. I've done six Challenges, three in the beginning and three Alumni. Both times I was successful on the first two and what some would deem unsuccessful on the third. I don't see it that way at all. Here's what I know... The woman who signed up for that 1st Challenge was scared and doing so out of the fear that she soon would truly be on her own, her Mom was dying and the Challenge was a chance for her to have some sort of control over a terminal situation. She kicked ass on two Challenges but was physically, emotionally, and spiritually exhausted by the 3rd Challenge and she gave up. The woman who started her Alumni Challenge had paid for it a year and a half earlier. She took the time to grieve and heal, she found her inner strength, and just as Carmina had continually told her she came back when she was ready. This woman was a new and improved woman, she had grown up and came to realize the she is worth it! She is a warrior and she isn't sitting down anymore. She has goals, she is a survivor, and she isn't finished yet! I may not have met my 15 lbs this Challenge but I did lose 50.4 lbs in three Alumni Challenges, I am stronger than ever before in my life mentally, physically, and spiritually. I've formed relationships with Campers, I step out of my comfort zone on a daily basis, and I don't let small setbacks like a number on the scale stop me. I was there at 4 am and I will continue to be there. This, my life, is a marathon not a sprint! 6 week Challengers, I know this is Hell Week but we are all in this together. Let's see if I can get through this without crying. This is my 1st challenge, and what an amazing experience. It started with emails I kept getting from Rochelle. I knew I needed to lose weight, I had joined the gym. But the procrastinating, too busy, not enough time, spoiled American that I am, attempted to go, only a few times. There was always an excuse...I needed the right shoes, I needed the right clothes, I'll Start on Monday, I'll start on the 1st, etc. But one day, I couldn't keep my pants up over my muffin top.....That was it for me. Its been a grueling yet satisfying past 12 weeks and my 2nd challenge was much more difficult with plenty of bumps and bruises, scratching and clawing but i learned a lot about myself that I had not yet discovered. My wife told me, she was interested in participating in six week weight loss challenge at a new gym she heard about. She then told me it was a 20 lb body weight loss in six weeks. The gym provided a diet plan to follow and we would be responsible to make 30 workout classes at the gym with their trainers leading. Then she informed me there is a $$$ deposit that was required but, you could get the deposit returned if you are successful in following the rules of the program and losing the 20 lbs of body weight at the end of the six week challenge. I wanted to support her and thought that I could stand to lose 20 lbs myself. Especially since I had been complaining of my beer belly to her! I am not a stranger to intense workouts. I actually enjoy the challenge of a High Intensity Training workout. My diet however really needed to be improved. I was lying to myself by allowing myself to eat big portions because "I workout really hard!". As a result I was a "fit fat" guy! I love to lift heavy but, my endurance was terrible and I was slow. This program's diet plan not only told me what to eat but, also how much and when. At first, I admit I thought I was starving myself. I adjusted to the portion size and frequency of the meals. You need to eat every 2.5 to 3 hours. At first I would watch the clock anticipating my next meal. Soon I adjusted and I would learn to be satisfied. The workout program can be intense. Don't let this intimidate you!! If you are not able to do some of the movements there is usually a alternative you can do. I would strongly encourage you to at least try the standard and if you truly can't complete the exercise movement properly then consider modifying. You need to bring your best to gym and not hold back! It takes what sometimes feels like a drastic change to make a positive improvement! Speaking of positivity. There is a good positive atmosphere to the gym and people there. People are there to make a positive change in themselves and are encouraging to others trying to do the same. I think most people are focused on working out and not judging others in a bad way. I usually find someone who seems like they are more fit than me and try to at least match them or beat them. Like a fellow camper said to me, "...Iron sharpens Iron...!"Proverbs 27:17 (love this verse). So, in conclusion, I think this is a good program to lose weight quickly. It encourages accountability with the deposit and checkins. It is good for people new to working out and veterans who need a adjustment to their routine. read more

The camp is awesome I love going here to work out. I'm currently doing the body fat challenge. I'm half way done and have already met my goal of 5% body fat loss for the 6 weeks.
