Family owned & Operated. I met my husband in Tombstone, Az so we thought it only appropriate to get some old time photos done while we stopped in town. The Can-Can is located right off the main street within the little set up of Tombstone. So it is pretty easy to find. We got in there, and there were a few people ahead of us but it didn't really take to long at all. They give you a couple of style options for the woman which is bar maiden, madam, and just regular town folk. Men can go for the gentlemen cowboy look, or the rugged outlaw look. My husband opted for the gentlemen look, and I went with the bar maiden. For the men everything goes over whatever you are already wearing. The women do need to change a bit so there are dressing rooms provided. You can pick one background, and they supply you with a couple of props. I think you may be able to chose a couple of backgrounds but you would need to pay for that option. They take a few pictures, and you chose which one you like the best. You can get your copy in color or sepia, the sepia I think is the best option. There equipment is a bit dated, and it would be cool if they could provide you with a digital copy but they are not set up for that quite yet (Still stuck in the oldin days, Windows 95 ya'll). We had a great time, and the family that runs the place is very helpful and very kind. We would certainly come back here again, probably next time with the kiddos. read more

Looked for the old time photo place in tombstone and I knew I found the right place by the review I'd the rude woman behind the counter! We came to tombstone today to celibate my bother while had passed away, this was his favorite place. To commemorate the moment we decide to take a picture of the grandkids together. It was at 4;30. They close at 5pm. She " agreed" to hold it open for us. Hold it open? She wasn't busy, they had 30 Minutes? The helper proceeded to help the kids get into their costumes, she was great! During all of this people walked in to look around and she rudely said " we are closed!" Come back tomorrow. Some people just wanted to look! In the mean time I mistakingly took my phone off to take a picture of my son and she proceed yo yell at me no personal pictures! There is a $250 fine! Ok... then she proceeded to yell at three other people in our party for the same thing. If it wasn't for the fact we were trying to do the picture for my mom I would have left. She is by far the rudest person I've ever experienced in a store. The photographer was embarrassed by her and fantastic! I hope she isn't the owner. I'm very mad I gave them money. We called and confirmed the day beforehand and were assured that they would be open today. We had a party of a dozen including my 90 year old mother in a wheelchair, and a baby and two toddlers. We went on a Thursday to visit Tombstone and our trip would not be complete with an old time photo. We only had to wait about 15 minutes for my husband and I to get our pictures. While getting ready, the owner gave us info on the town which was pretty cool. The pictures turned out super cute. I wish we had been able to do more poses or be able to do multiple "scenes" but it was just him running it that day. We always do these photos when we go on trips and always try to do at least 2 backgrounds and outfits so that was kind of a bummer but totally understood why we could only do one. This was a very quick experience, and the two people working were very friendly. They have (I think) four backgrounds to choose from, the saloon being the most popular. My husband and I wanted a photo of the kids for memories, and we felt they worked quite well with kids. It was $40 for three pages of pictures, my only complaint is it was printed on almost regular paper.... a little thicker than regular printer paper, but not actual photo paper. We actually made previous arrangements in person (after driving 2.5 hrs) to have a family photo taken with 15 - 20 people on Dec 30th for my father's 80th birthday. We called upon arrival (having driven 2.5 hrs again with family from as far as KY, WA and MI) to have probably the rudest, most unfriendly female employee inform us in an extremely rude tone, that not only will she not honor the owners commitment, there was no way she would take that many people and to go elsewhere. We drove to the other shop in town, which not only agreed to the ask but gave us a walk-in time to accommodate. We then made our way to the Can-Can to report the offensive behavior to the owner, who began apologizing and asked if we could return in the morning. We considered it when the now faceless employee on the phone came around the corner and, using the same rude tone, yelled, "I am not doing that many people, and mom said no too." With a dumbfounded look on his face, the owner stated, "I guess the real boss made the rules." We shared that we appreciated the acknowledgment, but the employee's behavior was not only rude, it was unprofessional and offensive. I personally shared in the employee's ear shot, that we are all going to share the experience presented by the employee and this business to the internet in entirety through reviews and how pitiful that behavior was on the phone and in person. This business, its owners, and employees are unprofessional, rude, care only about the money churn, and sadly - liars. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. We now know why they have such low stars on all social media outlets. We simply thought that the kindness showed in person was real and outweighed the reviews. We were wrong. Great souvenir! Highly recommend this place! Wonderful gal made this experience enjoyable, quick and fun! She was a 5th generation Tombstone resident and shared interesting background about the area. Followed their wishes of having my party stay out front while I set my appointment for my group, my husband accompanied me as I set the appointment. Was met by a friendly sort who asked "you guys want an appointment?" To which I answered yes. Set my time, and was going to say for 9, but she took my name and said "see you at 3". Three o'clock, I show up to check in, and said I have a party of 9, to which I was told "we have an appointment for (my name) party of 2 at 3". So disappointed, and told them I was never asked how many. They would not accommodate us and to make it worse, as I was walking out the door the person who took my name said "I asked how many and she said 2". I never said a number, and was never asked. Its ok to make mistakes in your job, but own it and apologize. Dont call someone a liar, just to save face. Was here to commemorate my son's 21st birthday. All in all Tombstone in general has been disappointing for a 21st birthday, but THIS sealed the deal for a crappy day. Will NEVER return, and will discourage anyone and everyone i can from making the same mistake . Very rude. read more

Have used this photo shop many times. First time for two people. Last time (11-19-18) for 15 people (ages72 to 6 weeks). Photographer was great! Much patience needed for the toddlers. Absolute worst old time photo experience at "can can" old time photos in Tombstone, Az!!! In tombstone for our fourth visit, we wanted to take an old time photo with our newest baby girl who's just 8 months old, to add to our collection over the years. We had been to the "can can" old time photo shop on our first visit and it was a great experience! This visit was awful!!! From the moment I walked in the door I felt uneasy and got the feeling that the two women working just didn't like something about me or my family. I thought, perhaps she was annoyed because my oldest, who is 4, began walking into the photo area through the swinging doors. The door came back and knocked the baby in the face and caused a commotion with some crying. But, it was obviously an accident and we quickly pulled ourselves together and waited politely to be seen. Then, as we were dressing I asked if there was a mirror. (I'm kinda busty and was a little uncomfortable with my saloon girl bustier... I just wanted to be sure I wasn't spilling out.) She informed me that if I wanted a mirror I could go up the street to a different shop. We were taken aback but we just brushed it off (I thought I must have misunderstood... Why would she want us to leave?) and said it was fine. Then she came and shoved a headband on my head, which startled me! I asked my husband if it looked ok, to which he suggested taking a picture on his phone so I could see. He asked politely if that would be alright and she responded in a confrontational tone that she would charge $20! Finally, I thought, "enough is enough, this woman is clearly being very rude!" and I said in an aggravated but controlled tone that we would be leaving. She began stripping me of my clothes in the middle of the shop!!! ( I was naked from the waist up under the saloon girl dress) I pulled away from her and she said that I could "go ahead and break her stuff and she'd charge me $20"! At this point I was on the verge of tears and ran to the dressing room. After I quickly dressed in my clothes I came out to my husband and crying four year old and the tears started flowing from my eyes too! I could not understand for the life of me what had just taken place! The woman was "helping" two women who had just walked in at this point. I think she thought she could just ignore us and we would go away. But, I was so angry, I felt compelled to say something! I began to tell her through my tears that she was incredibly RUDE, she stopped me short and responded that I was rude from the moment I walked in "like I owned the place! With your big fake tits thinking you're hot shit!" And, "you don't need a mirror, this isn't a beauty shop!" I was SO startled and angry that she would speak to me this way, especially in front of my children! I don't know why I even bothered to respond, but I told her that my BREASTS are not fake and it's incredibly unfair to discriminate against someone based on their looks. She started yelling something back, but I couldn't hear her through the blood rushing in my ears and my tears. I just put my hand up and told her that she had hurt my feelings and that she had TERRIBLE customer service and thank you for this lovely experience on our family vacation to tombstone! At that point, the other women at the shop told me I was bothering the other customers and to leave. I have never been "kicked out" of a store in my life! I'm just flabbergasted at this experience! "Can can" photos in Tombstone needs to shut their doors or hire new people! This experience has left me jaded and not too excited to visit tombstone again. However, this trip the quality was less than stellar and the staff was not helpful at all. If anything, she almost lost the sale because of the lack of people skills. A photographer's review To James Newbauer & the girls working at The Can-Can Old Time Photos in Tombstone, AZ From a photographer's point of view, I would like to address two issues concerning our visit to The Can-Can Old Time Photos in Tombstone, Arizona. The first and most important issue: Customer service and satisfaction. My family and I selected two photo options - A family of 5 photo in front of the saloon, and also a 2 person photo in front of the saloon. The two girls working the front counter were very rude and dismissive towards my wife and daughters regarding clothing options. My wife, who is of smaller frame, asked if she could please try another dress, to which one girl scathingly responded, "This is my job, I know what I am doing, I will pin it in the back." Our two little girls who were looking forward to getting Old Time Photos taken, were given no choice of dress or hats to wear and no mirror to look in. We were rushed through the process of dressing and taking photos when we arrived around 11:30 A.M. on Thursday, and we were the ONLY customers in the building. There was no need to rush us through like cattle! The second issue: Providing a quality service & product. From a photographers standpoint & understanding, there was no quality service & product being delivered. To address James Newbauer's claim of twelve (12) photos being taken; 5 of the photos were improperly shot and needed to be retaken as a result of poor judgement from the girl taking the photos. This comes from telling an individual who is 6 ft. tall to look at your [photographer's hand] which is 8 inches above the lens, and resulted in a photograph that looked like his eyes were trailing off and above the point of focus. In addition, when selecting two 8" x 10" photos that equaled a bill of $59.18, I expected a much better quality of product than what was received. The photos were printed on what I guess to be about 65 lb. Legal Size Card Stock. Not only was I shocked by the choice of paper, but the clarity and sharpness of the photo was less than sub-par. The depth of focus was set far too shallow, resulting in the faces and bodies of our children who were near the bottom of the photo to come out extremely soft and blurry. For nearly $60.00, there should be no reason that photos and faces are coming out blurry on 8x10 prints. Please learn to use your camera prior to claiming to provide portrait quality prints. Prior to leaving Tombstone that afternoon, I stopped by the Tombstone Visitors Center and the Tombstone Chamber of Commerce on 4th Street to notify them of how my family and I were mistreated by Can-Can Old Time Photos. As it turns out, I was not the first person to report an unpleasant experience from the two girls working at Can-Can Old Time Photos to the Tombstone Chamber of Commerce. Not only has it happened to previous customers and been reported to the Chamber, but also read prior reviews on Facebook & Yelp regarding Can-Can Old Time Photos. There seems to be a common denominator of rudeness, and I would urge Can-Can to look a little more closely at where it stems from. Please, save yourself from an unpleasant trip to Tombstone, Arizona and avoid having your photos taken at Can-Can Old Time Photos at 4th & Allen St. There are much more kind and enjoyable Old Time Photo locations in Tombstone than Can-Can. To all who read - Please disregard the misnomers and untruthful allegations by the staff of Can-Can Old Time Photos. There was no harassment from any member of our party, or concern for safety of any staff of Can-Can Old Time Photos during our time in Tombstone. This was my family's first time visiting Tombstone, and we wanted an old fashioned picture taken. The four of us went to The Can Can Old Time Photos. That was a big mistake. Don't go there!! The sign on the door said they open at 11:00 am. We got there at 10:00 and waited around. At about 11:15 a man unlocked the door and went in (didn't speak to us and it was obvious that we were waiting by the door to have pictures taken) and left the closed sign on the door. At around 11:30 a girl went in (also didn't speak to us) and left the closed sign on the door. After a few more minutes she let us in, now in a big rush to get us in and out. She grabbed some clothes and handed them to us. She hurried us to get dressed while telling 2 other couples that came in after us that it would be a 5 minute wait for the first couple and 10 minutes for the second couple. That's 5 minutes for her to grab clothes, for you to put them on, and for her to take the pictures. Wow! When asked where the mirror is, she said "We don't have one." Really? So now it's up to her to see if everything looks ok, which she DID NOT. She rushed and took pictures then started taking our costumes from us to give to the next people. We got our picture, but will definitely have to photoshop them. The next time we are in Tombstone, I will find a different place to have our photo taken!!! read more

This place is terrible. We were so excited to have an old time photo taken and their website looked great. The experience was the exact opposite. Although the man at the front counter was very nice, the women that work there were incredibly rude. They gave us no choice of costumes, there were no mirrors to see what we looked like, they rushed us in and out of the dressing room, and took no care in setting up the photo in a way that would make a lasting family memory. Please go to the other old time photo shop in town! We stopped by Tombstone today on our way through and were so excited to get old time photos as a family. The two young women running the shop were very rude and condescending. They refused to let us have any choice in what we all wore. I tried to tell one of the ladies that the dress didn't fit at all and she told me she knew what she was doing and would pin it. We felt like we were being run through the mill. The quality of the photo was just awful and was printed on cardstock which we were charged 59.00 for. It was the worst customer experience I have ever had. After we left, we went down the road and noticed that there was another photo shop so we went in and they were incredibly kind, allowed you to choose outfits, and the photos were printed on glossy photo paper with much higher quality. I wouldn't wish such a discouraging experience on anyone so please go to the other photo shop in Tombstone. read more
