One of the best desserts can be found at this Killarney Restaurant and its gluten free. My girlfriend searched out restaurants in Killarney that serve Irish Beef Stew without Guinness in it as she cannot have gluten, and Guinness has gluten in it. The place was packed which was a good sign and we quickly ordered our meals as we were starving. The Beef Stew came with three different servings of potatoes and from what I recall it was decent. What made this meal really exceptional was the dessert. Warm banana pie with delicious cold ice cream. Over the span of our 15-day trip in Ireland this was either my favorite dessert or tied as my favorite dessert for the trip. Also, this restaurant is in a very nice shopping area that you can easily walk and shop for hours in after your meal. As always people SYOY!!!

Tasty food but not a huge fan of the service. This was not exactly one of my favorite restaurants. I struck out on this one. Again, the food is good but I take points off for lackluster service and an unfriendly service who was snarky and borderline rude. Prices were high as well.

Delicious comfort food. My husband's beef stew with some of the best I've ever had and the bacon and cabbage was decent as well

We had a good meal here. Enjoyed my cottage pie and was quite full. Worked well with my gluten free companion.

My friend and I stumbled on the Caragh Restaurant our first night in Killarney and it turned out to be our favorite meal thus far of our week in Ireland. I had the Cottage Pie paired with a local Kilarney helles lager and it was just perfect (gotta love entrees with 3 servings of potatoes!). My friend got the lamb shank and it was fall-off-the bone tender; I'm not a big fan of lamb but I tried a bite and would definitely order it. We got seated immediately (on a Monday night) and the staff was very nice with recommendations and service was excellent. The interior may not fit the classic mental picture of an Irish pub, but the food and service are why you need to visit here...highly recommended!

Service was efficient and prompt. Generous portions for the cottage pie and large house salad. Salad had a variety of greens and vegetables and fruit. Please note: salad come with black and green olives in case this is not your taste. Side vegetables with the cottage pie a nice touch as most serve only the pie. Tipping may be making its way to Ireland. We were asked if we wanted to leave a tip on the card. Nice place to eat.

The Caragh has a family restaurant atmosphere and very friendly staff. I specifically picked this restaurant because of the variety of vegetarian options, but they have traditional Irish favorites too. Portions are ample and the food came out fast. Wifi is free but spotty. I got the Vegetarian Panini, which came with fries and a salad. Fries were slightly crispy and cooked to perfection. The salad was more of a vegetable medley that included coleslaw, corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, fruit, and greens. I'm not much of a coleslaw fan, but this one was pretty good. The panini was filling and I had enough to eat half of it for lunch the next day. They also had lots of amazing looking dessert options, but we were too full. (Sad!) The other impressive thing about The Caragh is that the prices were very reasonable here, maybe more so than any other restaurant we ate at in Ireland. Give it a try!

Let's be honest, one of the highlights of visiting Ireland is the food. And we wouldn't think of wasting our precious time visiting a restaurant without either a local recommendation, or without first scouring reviews. Some panned out, some didn't. The Caragh Restaurant, chosen by the reviews, definitely panned out. My travel partner and I both agreed that this was our favorite dinner spot of our trip. Not only was the food top-notch -- omg, the panko crusted fried brie! -- but the service was fantastic. There were only two ladies serving the full restaurant and we never felt that we were left unattended or that our server was rushed at all. She even made small talk and was pleasant all around. Our only regret was that we didn't eat here the first night we were in Killarney, too.

What a find and what a fine place! I got to Killarney late after nearly 20h of travel from the US. I wasn't too hungry when I got here so I did some walking round, and then I had an important call. All things considered, I only freed up by 10pm! I was worried that no places would be serving food this late, and when I asked at one pub a waitress told me that my only options were fast food take-out. So, I was pleasantly surprised by my stumble into Caragh. It was still a vivacious atmosphere at 10pm, and I was not only attended to promptly, I was served quite quickly thereafter. My shepherd's pie was delicious - and gluten-free - as was the local craft cider that I had alongside it. And even though it was close to closing time, the entire staff was really friendly and nice. Do drop in for a hearty Irish meal sometime and you'll thank yourself!

After spending 8 days in Ireland I decided that this was by far my favorite meal! We chose this restaurant because it was off the Main Street and consequently the prices were way lower. I ordered the lamb shank which is one of their specials. It came out in pretty good time and was literally fall of the bone. I love that it was a good about of meat for the price. The sides were slightly lacking in flavor but the lamb truly made up for it. Service was fast and friendly and the restaurant was clean with a casual ambiance. My friend has the lasagna and was very satisfied with her selection. Tip: if you're not from around here, just note that you pay for your meal at the hostess stand. A lot of Irish places are like that or pay at the bar.

Incredible Cottage Pie, and the service was wonderful. Would definitely come back next time we're in Killarney

The food was traditional Irish, served promptly and at a reasonable cost. They serve a local craft beer that was very nice.

The pie of the day, not on the menu, was steak and kidney, which I had to try "for research purposes". The pastry crust extended to the sides and bottom so it fully enclosed the filling and was served "freestanding". Crust and gravy were excellent. In the filling, both the steak and the kidneys were plentiful. My research completed, I probably wouldn't order it again; just give me the steak - no more kidneys please! Nevertheless I did enjoy and finished it. This was served with decent fries and a truly excellent green salad: a variety of leafy greens, radishes, cucumbers, pickled onions, and pre-dressed with a vinaigrette. The wife had the Beef & Guinness Casserole, served with brown bread. Along with steak there were also plentiful veggies (root vegetables and celery) and mashed potatoes in the center. She liked it. I tried it and agreed. I would get that next time. I had a Jameson Old Fashioned to drink and it was the best Old Fashioned I've had in some time. The unusually large twisted orange peel probably contributed and it may have had more than the customary amount of bitters. The wife's tea was amusingly served with a knitted "cozy" keeping the teapot hot. For dessert we shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding, served with vanilla ice cream, attractively presented with a dusting of sugar, whipped cream, and a ground cherry complete with its leaves. I'd rate it second among the three I've tried so far. Would certainly order it again. As for the pub I can't say. It has a reputation for good traditional Irish music every night but unfortunately not until 9:30, way too late for us. Sadly we're just not pub people.

O Donoghues brought us in with a great menu and friendly staff from the get go. Also the trickling sounds of Hozier drifting onto the street might have also encouraged me to walk in "I take my whiskey neat, my coffee black in my bed at 3". Haha. But really, this spot is the perfect pub vibe without being too raunchy. Staff were all very nice. Who looked to be the lead staff or manager was very friendly and keeping tabs all around. He engaged us in playful banter and kept his eye on things. The female and male staff that helped throughout the meal were also nice. Talked to the bartender for a brief moment, all nice people. I was impressed that the menu was little more extensive than other spots with good variety. Prices were also extremely reasonable. It was nice to see a good mix of locals and tourists. Locals primarily at the bar and tourists throughout the mix. Definitely a welcoming spot. For cider was recommended their local cider Cronins and it was definitely lovely. A good starter drink. I really loved their cocktail menu and opted for a Tea-Ki cocktail as I liked it was very fruit forward. Imagine my surprise and delight when the cocktail was served in an actual tea pot hahaha. The teacup had ice and an orange slice. Brilliant! If I was a bartender I'd definitely take an idea like this and turn it into my own, it was just so cute and Instagram worthy. Cocktail was fruity and strong, I was happy. Food was also pretty good. I opted for the prawns and chips, pretty happy with them. The prawns were a good size and I liked that the batter wasn't too heavy. Tartar sauce was also tasty. The fries while good were slightly underdone for my taste. Overall though still a good meal. The ambiance was perfect and clean restrooms! Always important. I'd definitely come back here when in Killarney again, perfect spot for some food and drink, also heard live music after 9pm so worth a stop.
