After scouring over every Atlanta venue list known to man, my now husband and I narrowed it down to two places. We visited here second & fell in love immediately. The grounds are gorgeous, tucked away in the heart of Atlanta. It's so quiet for where it's at and was so convenient for all our family and friends. We got married in the fall and the leaves were so pretty. This is a perfect outdoor venue because you have everything right there. It's plenty spacious and no one has to drive anywhere after the ceremony. We had a cocktail hour on the side lawn which was perfect while the staff moved all the chairs from the ceremony site to the tables in the courtyard. And if you ever dreamed of getting married in an Italian garden-- this feels just like it. My absolute favorite thing about this venue is that we were able to bring in our own alcohol and pick a lot of our vendors. It's saved us A TON of money. And the very best thing about this place, part of your money goes towards the non profit school, which is an amazing cause. I really couldn't have asked for anywhere better to get married.

There is a bar available so one can only assume they encourage purchases, yet I was scolded more than once mid sip. Perhaps because of my ethnicity, perhaps because I was expected to drink through my mask, perhaps because i needed extra help with my vision while signing the waiver, but regardless I felt intentionally targeted. I reached out to The Slate Room the next morning and was blown away by how easy and seamless the booking process was. Not only did they have availability, but the space ended up being even better than my original venue in every way. The location is prime, the pricing is more than fair, and the space itself is absolutely stunning. It's the perfect outdoor-hybrid setup and worked flawlessly for my party. Josh and Chavien were incredibly professional, kind, and transparent about everything from the very beginning. They walked me through all the features of the venue, answered every question I had, and made sure I felt fully supported. What really stood out to me was the level of care! Josh even came back the morning after my event to help a guest who thought they had left something behind. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare and so appreciated. Thanks to The Slate Room, what could have been a stressful disaster turned into one of the best nights ever. I truly believe my party was better because it happened here. If you're looking for a beautiful, flexible venue with great energy and even better people, this is the one. I will recommend The Slate Room every chance I get. The catering (outside vendor) was also located inside & dropped the ball on many aspects...with no fault of the Slate Room. I have never seen a large table covered in saran wrap serving as a charcuterie board with no serving utensils, mini plates & the much need for Hand Sanitizer. I digress to the outside, aside from the covered patio with sofas (they need to be replaced), picnic tables & a few chairs, the seating layoff were off. Now, depending on the packages - perhaps different setups with furniture &, etc may be offered. The parking logistics were very unpleasing. The parking space is shared, so 1st come 1st park. The neighboring businesses have parking spaces yet with the security outside they will let you know if you can park there or direct you somewhere else & with a small trek. The concept is great, yet the logistics could use some tweaking.

Passed appetizers included: Pimento cheese and pickle on crostini, house made pastrami on a fluffy bread, Black bean and quinoa croquettes. All were quite tasty, and I would've had multiples if I'd had time or seen the trays again. The space is historic, dimly lit, cozy, with several split rooms where the small tables of 7 were set up. The program took place in the main room on the left, leaving the guests standing (or sitting in the generous window sills like I did) and straining to hear the speakers, who were amplified with a speaker and hand mike. Once the dinner got going, I noticed the din of conversation - there are no textiles to absorb the sound, so it can get a bit hard to hear the others at your table. Also, the bar was set up on the hallway, and as the guests mingled, it tended to block the hall to the bathrooms. The dinner, prepared by Chef Terry Koval of the Wrecking Bar below, featured local produce. The salad of simple local greens with carrot didn't seem like much to look at, but was quite tasty. The pork cheek, braised in barley wine wort over sweet potato and braised mustard greens, was so tender you didn't even need the knife to cut it. The evening finished with the Wrecking Bar, a tasty combination that reminded me of a grown up version of the chocolate rice krispy treats my mom used to make... I don't remember the exact ingredients, but they included Nutella, and there was an overwhelmingly large dollop of whipped cream on the side. All in all, it was a nice event and a nice space, best enjoyed if your event doesn't need much of a program and includes different vignettes.

Our company holiday party this year was held at The Peachtree Club, a private club and event space…read morelocated on the 28th floor of the 999 Peachtree building at the corner of 10th and Peachtree in Midtown. This is the same building that houses popular Atlanta restaurant Empire State South on its ground floor. Ever seen the movie The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)? It's got an old-fashioned, formal, elegant setting; like a nice country club without the golf, tennis, and swimming pool. In other words, it's a city club and it's got some magnificent views of Midtown. There were several beautiful spaces to the club and I believe we had access to them all. The entrance had a coat check and was nicely decorated with wreaths and Christmas nutcrackers. There was a small study in front with an absolutely gorgeous Christmas tree. The main doors led to a bar area with lots of standing and seating room. The bar connected to various dining rooms/spaces (I counted five). Just about every room had terrific views of the city. There was also a covered patio with tables, seating, heat lamps, and illuminated snowflake decor for the holiday season. The patio is the best place to take in the views. The patio is located on the north side of the building, so the main view faces north up Peachtree Street towards the PwC tower. One criticism I have about the patio is the coverage wasn't very good. Our party took place on a cold, wet Saturday night (6pm to 10pm) and drops of water were still falling onto us from above. Another small critique I have is there were only two heat lamps for the entire patio and one of them wasn't working (it may have run out of gas). A nice touch I liked was the basket of shawls placed by the patio door in case anyone needed a wrap for warmth. Catering was not provided by a third party, but by the club itself. There were four dinner stations set up inside. Two were manned. I liked how the stations were spread out to avoid crowding issues. I believe the guest list was about 120-130. The bar got pretty crowded during cocktail hour, but spacing was more comfortable once dinner was served. Seating was a bit tight at dinner. The tables were white tablecloth with candles and centerpieces. Here were the stations and menu items: Asian Station - Vegetable fried rice - Chicken sate (satay) with peanut dipping sauce - Thai vegetable noodle bowl - Pork pot stickers with dipping sauce - Fried wontons - Edamame with sea salt Rudolph Riviera (staffed by chef/server) - Crispy garlic bread - Penne pasta with chicken in a garlic cream sauce Under the Christmas Tree (staffed by chef/server) - Bacon-wrapped turkey tenderloin over butternut squash-scented risotto - Sage-crusted pork loin over celery-whipped potatoes - Cranberry chutney Dessert Station - Various cake and brownie bites, tarts, cream puffs, and more In general, I thought the food was OK. The pot stickers and penne pasta were my favorite items. The penne pasta was served out of a cheese wheel for presentation purposes. The noodles at the Asian Station looked more like a pasta dish than a Thai dish. Not really authentic. The noodles were prepared with a coconut sauce. The turkey and pork station was manned by a chef from Italian restaurant Campagnolo, which is located just a couple blocks east of the club. He works as a chef for both Campagnolo and The Peachtree Club. Admittedly, I do think the food I've had from local caterers like Affairs to Remember and Bold American Events has been better. There was an open bar with friendly bartenders. After dinner, there were no servers serving coffee nor was there a coffee station. Instead, coffee was served at the bar, which I thought was interesting (and uncommon, in my experience). In general, I thought all of the staff did a fantastic job, from the managers to the coat check lady. We brought in Cobalt Strings (https://www.yelp.com/biz/cobalt-strings-atlanta) to perform live holiday music. We had this same trio perform at our holiday party last year at the Atlanta History Center. They are that good. The Peachtree Club opened in 1989.
