Yay! I am a fan is a really good way of saying it. Over the past four years of watching boy/girls…read morebasketball and soccer I can honestly say, "Catholic High Has Balls". This once widely known and revered school was the stuff that caused competing schools athletes to have nightmares and pregame nervous breakdowns. Just look at the countless placards, trophies, awards, and state championship that are on display outside and inside the Gym. For what ever reasons this school had fallen upon some lean years during the 2000 decade, but now with this new bunch of students, parents and facility Catholic is poised to make a come back. I've seen the Girls basket ball team improve so much over the past four years that I can predict that more glory days are just around the corner. The Soccer program is currently weak but when you look at just the pure desire and downright grit these players have it will not take to long for them to build up a winning program. From the varsity boys team fielding three female players to complete the required eleven, or the veracity and cheering of the team parents to stand and support these athletes win or loose is a true inspiration. Hats off to a wonderful inter city school who has a great future and to all the students who will endeavor to always achieve lofty goals and make Memphis proud.

I am also an alumnae, and am SO proud to be. The friendships and families I've made at GSL are lifelong. GSL rocks, truly. While we've been at GSL forever, the (new) Headmaster and Teachers are THE BEST. Truly the best environment for kids - great art, sports and music fully integrated as well. Once you come take a tour or visit, you'll understand!

BTW, his bullies parents were large donors. The only diversity at this school is the football team. Only the 8th grade team. Because there aren't enough students from the school to make a team, they BORROW BLACK BOYS from Binghamton to play for them. But check the yearbook! How many of these black boys are actually ALLOWED to attend this "white privileged" school. Let me answer that for you. "NONE"!!!! Please be aware of this school's criminal lack of diversity and how distant and non inclusive the minorities are treated from the students, teachers and especially the majority parents. It is easy to speak with wonderful views when you are a part of the majority and treated beautifully. But, WHAT ABOUT THE MINORITIES? Who will speak for them?? WILL YOU, THE MAJORITY GROUP steeped with your "RICH history" (code word= racism) and exclusive community???? Very rarely are the minorities invited to your dinner parties, neighborhood parties, kids Birthday parties, play dates, and let's not forget definitely NOT THE SLEEPOVERS!!! TOTAL EXCLUSION!!! Go on I'm waiting for just ONE brave person from the majority to speak to and for the minorities at this school about their SO CALLED WONDERFUL TREATMENT AND EXPERIENCE!!! ANXIOUSLY WAITING!

Once you walk in, you will be greeted by the friendly staff of the school (teachers, janitors, etc.). For the first 3 periods, everything will be fine as you go through the school day. (These are just my teachers, any teacher that does anything bad can be reported.) not much homework, but when it rolls around lunch time, you are required to sit in an assigned seat. My problem comes in at what started it. In the very beginning of this year, you were required to sit at an assigned table. People didn't do that. People still don't do that to this day. Not the best way of solving a problem. Also, I feel like students should be able to roam free and talk to their friends during the only bit of free time they have, instead of being forced to talk to the same people day by day. It makes other students very rebellious. Thankfully, teachers cut us some slack and let us assign our own seats. Now I'm going to give a parent's perspective. I was also a band student. One time, there was an event outside the school, it was during the weekend. Most parents like to relax during the weekend, and spend their time with their children if they work Monday through Friday, but sometimes, if your child is enrolled in band, there will be events on the weekend, and you have to take your child to the event. There is also another thing I want to say. Whenever there is a parent teacher conference, they will give a slip of the time the day or before the day it happens. This gives the parents no time to actually prepare for the conference, which actually happened to ME. That's my thoughts on the school. Not the best from my perspective, but ask someone else and they might say different.
