This Travelodge is located at a service area just off the M1 at it's junction with the A50. It's…read moreco-sited with a Little Chef, Burger King and BP garage. As this is a motorway service area the prices in these places is higher than normal; however on presentation of you key you get a 25% dicsount in the Little Chef Being part of the service area there is a large car park, and also a children's play area. The rooms are clean and tidy, but ours was showing a lack of maintenance. There was a bulb out in one of the bedside lamps, and the cold tap in the bath/shower didn't work. There is poor 3G coverage in the area, but there is wifi available if you're prepared to pay £5 for 1 hr or £10 per day.

Travelodges aren't supposed to be the height of luxury. This had the bare essentials but was more…read morerun down than other Travelodges. Positives are that the room was clean and the hotel was well located for the M1. They had added some pictures to the wall which was something you don't normally get. It also had two staff on reception when we arrived. Two is unheard of! Negatives are that the fixtures and fittings in the bathroom (room 209) were looking worse for wear and there was some mould. The bath/shower taps had bits missing, but worked ok. The surrounding of the hotel leaves a lot to be desired though. There is a derelict fenced off children's play area which has grass grown up to at least 6ft and the Burger King (incidentally is only open until 7pm in the evening) looked likes it has been shut for year but is still opening but you couldn't guess judging by the look of it. Not that we planned to eat in the Burger King we tend to find a cheap local pub. If you want something simple and cheap we stumbled across the Fieldhead Hotel right on A50 under 2 miles away towards Markfield. Its an Old English Inn Greene King chain so it was pretty standard fare with 2 meals for £9.95. In summary, the service area that the Travelodge is in is a dump but if you are only using it as a place to crash then this doesn't matter at all.

I came here for a week-long conference over the summer, when the Uni was empty of students and the…read moreconference centre was pretty much shut except for us. I didn't stay in Burleigh Court, and most of the conference events were across the street at the Imago facility, but we did have a few meals and get-togethers at Burleigh. The interior is pleasant, and since it was a conference I made a bee-line for the bar in the middle of it. Comfortable couches, big-screen tele with the sport of the day on. Drinks were a bit pricey, but you're not going to get much other selection within a couple miles so you might as well bring your wallet. Dinners here were quite good. Each meal we were served as a conference was three-course, with a veggie option for those so inclined. I'm a meatatarian, so opted for some good animal deliciousness, and each time it was cooked perfectly. Served with some veg and gravy on the side, and followed by a light dessert. The staff were friendly through the handful of interactions I had with them. One night, we stayed at the bar until 6 a.m.; they shut down and stopped serving drinks long before that, but staff never asked us to leave or made us feel as though we had to vacate the area. It helps that it's an open floor plan like a lobby, so it's not like shutting down a proper bar where they need to ask everyone to go home. I didn't stay in the hotel here, as it's quite expensive (they were looking at over £100 per night; Ramada in the city centre was half that price), but if it was being paid for by me I'm sure I would have enjoyed it a bit more. Plus, it'd be conveniently located next to the convention centre if that's what you're staying for.

Good location if you are working on Loughborough campus…read more I stayed in the annex, single room with bathroom and was clean and tidy. Tea and coffee facilities in the room and toiletries in the bathroom. My annex room was a bit cold and there was quite a draft coming in but once I cranked up the heating and shut the blinds, the room was bearable. I didn't eat in the restaurant apart from breakfast. Lot of choice for breakfast (continental, cereals, full English) which was included in my room rate. Food cooked well and gluten free toast was available. Didn't use the leisure facilities but there's a gym, pool and spa. I didn't manage to get booked in for a spa treatment so you'd be best to book this in advance. It can be busy as multiple training and conferences going on so I suspect it can be hard to get spa appointments same day. I'd happily stay here again as no issues. Go out the back of the hotel to get the yellow bus that takes you around campus for free so that's handy!
