We had a fantastic experience at Chatham Berry Farm We picked two baskets of blueberries, (no charge for the container) and the blueberries were plentiful The people who work there were really nice and friendly Great place for a fun time My only recommendation is to wear sunscreen a wide brimmed hat and work quickly it takes a lot of time to fill two baskets. We went to go raspberry picking and unfortunately went towards the end of the season but there were enough for us to pick a decent amount. Luckily blueberries just started as well, so we picked a few of those as well. I liked how the berry farm is right behind the store. Other places I've been you have to drive to a different property. The store is cute with some unique interesting items. For instance, caramel with goats milk. They also make their own sausage and things. Really cute and prices aren't bad, especially for the berry picking. read more

Let me tell you right off the bat that the owner is a friend of mine so I am biased. I can tell you this, Joe is a fine person with fantastic kids who run a top notch operation. He cares about his employees and pays them well and treats them fairly and with respect. The meat department is the finest. The fish the freshest. Produce is fresh and lots of it is grown there. With the introduction of the Cidery it has become a great place to hang with the whole family and get some great food from Yummy Kitchen which is a whole other five star review. What a fun place to buy berries or simply just brows. On the weekends, they have music in the back- pretty cool in the back. The owners are so nice that it makes it extra special to just browse. In fact, we had run into one of the owners the night before at Tanglewood while we were seeing Earth, Wind and Fire. We looked at flowers, fruit and everything the berry farm had to offer. Great little grocery store. We visited a few weeks ago around Christmas week. Please note that they had signs requesting that one person per car come into the store. We weren't aware of this so the husband and kids had to wait in the car while I quickly shopped. Berry selection was limited to strawberries and blueberries but we did visit in the winter. Produce is priced higher than a typical grocery store but that was expected. All produce we got tasted great. I was pleasantly surprised to see a decent selection of specialty items that were gluten free and/or vegan. They had items from popular brands like Schar and San-J to more local brands. I think where this place shines is their offering of smaller, local brands. I picked up some great cheeses. If I was ever in the area, I'd definitely make it a point to visit again. read more

Some things are reasonably priced, others, ridiculous. (Ie cheeses) what ticked me off at this place was lack of customer service. I drove 40 minutes to this place to find out two items missing from my bag! I called and was assured that my items would be available, specifically if I returned early in the week. I drove back and the Asian girl told me she sold them and they were all out. WHAT?? Why did I drive all the way back here?? Pissed beyond belief. This place is a gem! We drove all the way from NYC because we wanted to visit an organic farm with fresh berries and this definitely hit the mark. The staff is friendly, the farm is clean and the prices for U Pick is reasonable! They have endless rows of blueberries and much of them is very sweet. I've been going here since I was a young kid. Some of my favorite memories are going to The Berry Farm to get fresh produce and seasonal plants with my mom. The service has always been fantastic and the staff is super helpful! You can pick your own berries and even get pumpkins in the fall. They carry the best in local and natural products. I'll never forget the first year we bought our Christmas tree here. They had a fantastic selection of huge, fat trees. We picked one we loved and the staff who helped my family out offered to drop it off at our house (~5 minutes away) because we have a sedan rather than a truck. Truly the crown jewel of small town farm stores in this area. :) read more

BEST farm I've ever been to in my life. All the fruits and vegetables are hydroponically grown meaning without dirt and using lights and water! Their arugula has the freshest taste really peppery like it's supposed to taste. Their berries are absolutely delicious! The owner was SO nice. This place has the best mixed greens around and it's reasonably priced. It has a quaint farm to table atmosphere with very helpful, warm, and inviting staff. I am a devout patron of the Berry Farm. My husband would spend every last penny we have at this place if he could. He comes close, over the summer. This place is wonderful. A vast selection of local meats, baked goodies, grocery shop items and vegetables. They have a large, impressive greenhouse on-site and fields full of fresh veggies waiting to be harvested. They have an on-site bakery as well which makes some of the best cookies and biscuits I've ever had. They sell Lloyd Spear honey, my absolute favorite, and have a large selection of maple products. They sell local dairy as well, from milk to ice creams. They have a substantial frozen/prepared food section if you're feeling lazy about cooking but want something fresh, local, and delicious. In the summertime there are loads of flowers, in the wintertime there are kissing balls and Christmas trees and mums the size of boulders. The employees there are always friendly and helpful and will gladly and graciously show you their greenhouse and newly installed solar panels. They encourage you to explore their facilities and see how lovingly they run their operation. My only warning - make sure you're watching where you stick your hand when going for some tomatoes - you might end up grabbing on to their cute fluffy cat, that likes to sleep in the crates in the back when he's not roaming around. :) read more

Prices are always in keeping with fresh local goods and availability due to weather. The variety and freshness of everything is just wonderful, from fruits and vegetables to garden plants to meats to sauces, honey, pasta and pickles... I buy my heriloom tomato gardan plants here every year, too. This is the REAL DEAL, family owned and run business. It's a delight to bring super fresh food home from this market/grower. I could easily see someone walking in and swearing they're going to help the local economy and thus the environment only to walk away after looking at a couple process tags and then deciding if walmart or price chopper is the bigger devil. read more

Constantly upgrading and improving the already good thing Joe Gilbert started decades ago, now with the help of his kids. Meat, fish, vegetables, specialty foods, much of it from local producers and farms - including their own large gardens. Berries (including pick-your-own) in season, bedding plants and perennials, and now a brewery! Wonderful food to make or prepared to go, pies, cookies, sauces, even local cheeses, milk and cream. We love, love, love The Berry Farm! They carry local meats and poultry from several farms, many local vegetables in season (their own and other farms', supplemented by stuff from further away out of season), fruits, and their own berries. Also, local dairy, cheeses, krauts, eggs, maple syrup, honey, and locally roasted coffee. It's our favorite place for vegetable plants for the garden, and their selection includes many organically/biodynamically grown plants from a local farm, as well as their own. The baked goods are the best - especially the scones and the big ginger cookies. The owner and staff are friendly and happy to send you on a tour of the greenhouses, talk about the source of a particular item or their various green energy improvements. It's also a great place to get Christmas trees, wreaths and holiday plants, as well as fresh greens from their geothermal greenhouse, so don't forget about them in the winter. Get a 'greens card', and get a free bag of greens after ten punches. Cash register lines can get a little long on weekends, but they are always well-staffed at peak times, and handle the crowds cheerfully. read more
