A beautiful tray I received, made by the Cheese Maven
Liz M.

I've received trays from the Cheese Maven as gifts (see that Easter tray pic! CUTE!), and I've seen her at events too, like when the Cheese Maven did trays for a brewery event up in Ravenswood. These experiences have introduced me to so many new products! In that Easter tray, there was an incredible truffle honey on a rich blue cheese. One of the best things I've ever eaten! She's also great at accommodating dietary needs like GF, veg, etc. These trays go so above and beyond the basics. One of my friends used her for a wedding reception and it was a big success- everyone loved the veggie and fruit-forward approach, paired with thoughtful special cheeses for every taste. Highly recommend and will definitely be a returning customer.

I can always find a reason to complain about something but not with TCM!!! Is "the table was too pretty to eat" a complaint? Not only does she have the gift to create beautiful grazing boards (the picture below does not do justice) but she is also great to work with. She is responsive, helpful, easy to work with, professional, and personable. We received lots of compliments from our guests. She is reasonably priced and well worth every penny! I highly recommend her for your catering needs (she does more than just grazing tables)!

This is the small size of the connoisseur so so good !

I was looking for something that would stand out on the table for the party and came across the cheese maven and it was a huge crowd pleaser!!

The Cheese Maven was amazing to work with. Beautifully done and delicious

Everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. Joanna was kind, thoughtful, professional, and very creative in her work. There is passion behind what she does.

The service was surprisingly reasonable despite the amount of patrons inside, friendly and the waitress stopped by periodically to check on us. Menu is not as adventurous as I've seen at some French restaurants, a bit different from still mostly familiar -- which can be good to appeal to a wider set of diners. I tried several different items including the Touche Toast, Cinnamon Apple Pancakes, and Gaufres Au Poulet Frite. I found in each of these, the textures were alright and the flavors were not too different from what I would expect from other brunch restaurants. Portion sizes were alright, as the meal wasn't overly expensive. If I had ordered items with more French influence, this may have been a better gauge of the food here. With that said, the uniqueness of the offerings here make me interested in a return visit. Overall, neat spot if you're looking for French style cuisine at reasonable prices.

Well, this is an update to the review I made 4 years ago. Today was a better experience all around…read more We arrived around 2pm and it was not crowded at all. They added an enclosed outdoor seating area, Thats lets you enjoy the breeze or sun, but protects you from the rain. It used to be a tent, so this is definitely nicer. My wife and I were seated immediately. The server quickly brought us water and garlic bread. I really like that they give you 5 fairly big pieces of garlic bread for only two people. Nice touch. We were not in a hurry and couldn't decide what we wanted so we started with the calamari salad. $29, but it's huge and chock full of those calamari guys. Lettuce is always crisp and has everything I like in it (olives, eggs, carrots, artichoke, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and romaine lettuce). We were almost full just from the salad alone. I ordered a grouper sandwich (not fried), and my lovely wife ordered the Scottish salmon plate, which comes with potatoes and grilled vegetables. My sandwich came with coleslaw and fresh cut fries. They switched to fresh cut since my last visit, and this was an upgrade. My sandwich was great, and huge too. Could not finish it. Wife's meal was a humongous slab of salmon. The veggies now come on a smaller plate, but that's okay, given the size of the fish. Service was a tad slow, but like I said, we weren't in any hurry. Total tab was $100, with tax and that pesky 3% service fee. I really enjoyed the food and the ambiance. It's not a place I can go every week, but when I can splurge, and have a taste for fresh seafood, this is the best around.

This Whole Foods is in a convenient Park Ridge location but we've never been much of a patron and…read morehave generally found them to be pricier than we like for groceries.  However, I came in on this day to try their Friday promo of 12 raw oysters for $12.  You do need to have an Amazon Prime account to get the deal.  I heard about this deal from a neighbor pal who is a big fan and oyster lover.   I would say it was an ok deal, and I'm going with 3.49 stars, as the oysters are all on the smallish side.  They're regularly priced at $1.99 apiece, and for comparison if you have them say at Shaw's, they go for $4 apiece there fyi.  You can't really enjoy them in their dining space though unless you want to buy lemons and/or cocktail sauce, as none is provided, so we did a carryout which is apparently the most common approach.  Carryout is fine as they are iced and as long as you eat them within 2 hours.  They had 3 types of oysters and they are the typical offerings year round we were told - Atlantic Blue Point, Rappahannock Atlantic, and Atlantic Wellfleet.  I queried a bit with Terry, one of the two seafood staffers on duty, and he told me Blue Points were the most popular and Rappahannocks were the biggest.  I don't know anything about the multitude of oyster varieties, but I do like the idea of getting the biggest for the buck as they all taste pretty much the same to me.  I also noticed they were only about 1/4 to 1/3 the size of the big oysters we get in a Chinatown restaurant(!), duh, but that's an aside.  Anyway we ordered 6 Blue Points and 6 Rappahannocks.  They made for a nice lunch side at home and a nice little foodie treat.  The two varieties tasted very similar but the Rappahannocks might have been a little fishier tasting.  Kyle was the staffer who did the shucking (and Terry said he was the best shucker in all of Park Ridge!), and he indeed did a masterful and excellent job as you couldn't even tell they were shucked as the shells were carefully reassembled so beautifully.  I actually raised my rating by 1/2 star just because of Kyle's fine work ha.  It was all fun, but probably still a one and done on the promo unless I find out they are going to bigger oyster varieties some day!

I don't shop at Whole Foods often but when I visited the thing that really stood out to me was that…read morethey have a single entrance. There is only one place where you can enter this store, and even when I was here around 5pm on a Thursday this created a backup. To add insult to injury the doors are enter or exit only doors (though I can't remember if there's a barrier between them--so maybe you can fudge it). Other than that, standard Whole Foods. They have an Amazon return counter on the side opposite of the entrance (since that's the least convenient place they could have put it for people making returns, I can only assume it was by design and they're hoping that people will do some shopping whilst they're in there). At that end there is a single exit-only door right by the Amazon counter, so you can avoid temptation by leaving there.
