The BEST time!!! Naveen is absolutely amazing and you'll have the best time ever. You're so missing out if you book a class at Sur La Table vs Naveen's. The studio is gorgeous! BYOB and Naveen will provide the food and recipes and you're bound to have the best time cooking ever. Recommend for a date or buy out for a corporate event.

It was an amazing experience! Highly recommended! Our group was welcomed by Naveen and his assistants who had the kitchen and recipes ready. After explaining his background, cooking philosophy, and a description of the spices and ingredients, Naveen taught knife and prep skills for the dishes we were tackling. At first, I was intimidated by the ease with which he cut the ingredients as he demonstrated techniques, but as I cut and prepped ingredients, Naveen was right there to give advice and encouragement. The meal we made was delicious and easy to make. I learned how to make a wonderful meal shared with the group and Naveen.

Recently re-visited Naveen's cuisine and once again had an amazing time cooking! The venue is a beautiful commercial style kitchen space that feels cozy and homely to conduct a cooking class in. We cooked Indian chicken tikka masala, bhindi (okra) and made roti's (i.e. Indian bread). Throughout the class, we learn various cooking lessons from how to hold and motion a knife properly, different types of masalas and chilis, to science of starch (in okra) and grilling techniques. He apparently also rents out the space for private events, so will definitely look into that in the future.

We had the best time celebrating my birthday at Naveen's. He's so welcoming, full of knowledge and fun. It's a super fun set up to enjoy eating and drinking with your friends while not feeling like you're in a stuffy class. 10 out of 10, highly recommend!

Had the honor of getting to work alongside Chef Naveen and his great crew on Saturday night "work" party back in early December, 2022. (Two good friends splurged for about fifteen of us to take a cooking class together- a meet & greet while we created a delicious meal.) Drinks were served when we arrived in the spacious kitchen: a clean, open space, with plenty of room, and nicely decorated with fun colors for happy photographs. Chef Naveen and his team had everything ready for us; all we had to do was wash our hands and keep our sleeves off of our wrists. (Do dress accordingly if you're taking a cooking class) We also got a really great knife demonstration with some helpful tips prior to prepping our meal for the evening. Pro tip- you're probably doing it wrong at home... Chef Naveen was available and very approachable for questions, offered super helpful suggestions, and was just generally fun and hilarious the whole evening. We dined together at the end, all of us, and Chef's crew worked seamlessly in the background keeping everything moving for us. Thank you, Crew! An absolutely incredible experience- if you have never taken a cooking class, I could not recommend more highly Chef Naveen and his crew and kitchen. 10/10 stars. Also, Indian food for the win- you'll go home feeling like a rock star. Thank you, Chef Naveen!

Kids are welcome. For cooking class, depending on the kids skills cooking, parents might need to help kids keeping up.

Hi! I'm looking for a class where it's only vegan options, is there a class for that here?

Vegan classes are generally offered once a month - there is not much demand. This month due to schedule conflicts, it is not being offered.

The food really did blow me away because everything tasted like high-end fine dining quality but at a fraction of its price. The drinks were also quite good and they also have wine pairings too. For the main dishes I really like their desserts; they were just not too sweet and just right. For the appetizers I think I like some more than the others. For example the steak at the time was very good; the chicken was a little bland and for the appetizer we all tried different ones too. Overall great experience. An unforgettable cooking class--pure joy from start to finish!…read more I cannot rave enough about this cooking class. Four friends and I signed up on a whim, and it turned into one of the most memorable evenings we've had together in ages. The highlight was learning how to make fresh fettuccine from scratch--yes, from scratch--and somehow the instructor Jason made the whole process feel both totally doable and ridiculously fun. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and buzzing with good energy. Jason was patient, hilarious, and incredibly knowledgeable, guiding us through every step without ever making it feel intimidating. Before long, we were kneading dough, rolling it out like pros, and cheering each other on as our pasta strands got longer and more impressive. And the best part? Sitting down together at the end to enjoy the meal we created. The pasta was unbelievably fresh--silky, tender, and honestly better than many restaurant dishes I've had. Unfortunately, we ate so fast. We forgot to take a picture! Sharing that meal with friends made it even more special. After we ate, we were entertained by the fabulous Yuiza Beach! A local entertainer from Rogers Park. She was funny and charismatic, and kept us in stitches the whole time! Her performance was as fabulous as she was If you're looking for a unique, hands-on experience that blends learning, laughter, and seriously delicious food, this class is a must. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Highly, highly recommended!

Before you start cooking 3 Chefs explain and demonstrate each course you're going to make. It's a lot to remember so I suggest you pay attention! There are students who walk around to help answer questions and bring you ingredients. The Chefs are also very hands on. One Chef walked me through the entire process of making the vinaigrette! While cooking, they also have a snack & beverage table set up so you won't go hungry! In fact, try not to fill up too fast! Then, there is one course to be eaten at your cooking station, which were the scallops! Here is what we cooked: 1st Course: Beet Salad w/ Oranges & Pistachio Encrusted Baked Goat Cheese Croutons - the croutons came out phenomenal but we forgot to add our vinaigrette! Lol! Whoops! We accidentally left it on the counter! 2nd Course: Scallops in a Butter Blood Orange Sauce topped w/ Caviar- my absolute favorite thing we made! The sauce was so good w/ the perfectly cooked scallops! 3rd Course: 3 Large Flank Steaks w/ Cauliflower Purée- the marinade for the steaks was amazing! Steaks came out nice and juicy! The Cauliflower was cooked in milk then purée by the students. 4th Course: Raspberry Truffles! This was the most comical portion of the evening bc/ we accidentally let the chocolate sit for a little while. When I went to ball the chocolate over the raspberries, the chocolate instantly melted in my hands. A student quickly came over to help but we had a laughing attack bc we were trying to salvage what we could! Quickly, we dipped the truffles into coco powder & put them back in the fridge! It was such a blast pretending to be Gordon Ramsay and Zumbo! It really felt like we were on a cooking show! We were so into it, that out of 28 ppl we were 1st to finish! I wish they would record it & send you home with a dvd! Lol After, Couples enjoy their meals at candle lit banquet style tables lined w/ white table cloth next to an open bar. (This is not the same location as Kendal's main restaurant.) You bring your salad with you and the rest of the courses are served by the students! A lot of thought went into making this night possible & a lot of the ingredients come already prepared! In just under 3hrs you cook & dine! So romantic! So much fun! Delicious food! The perfect date night! I would do it all over again in a heart beat! Thank you, My Love for such a wonderful evening!

Man, I do not cook…read more But, for a night at Kendall College (Spice Up Your Life Cooking program)...I felt for a slice of time, that I might be able to get into it. That feeling has passed, but I still had a really nice time. Ok? Ok. I learned how to "assemble" several items: *Sparking sangria. I'll definitely make this at some point again because it contains alcohol and thus I am not going against my DNA that requires I do not create edible dishes. Ever. Choppy some fruit, throw in some brandy, red wine, Grand Marnier and pour over ice and sprite. Not bad! I'm drunk now, so let's cook.... *Ciabatta Pear Pizza with honey thyme pesto. A winner, most definitely. I could probably make this happen at one point in the future without anyone being harmed or maimed. Those were the standouts. The rest of the dishes (mushroom tartlettes, seafood ceviche, chorizo quesadillas) were all OK, but nothing out of this world. Read: I won't even try to make those. The good parts of this program/classes: the instructors were very fun, and cordial...not like Hell's Kitchen at all. They made it a really fun "Girls Night Out" cooking class. There was also PLENTY of sangria to go around, and other wines to have additionally. For a hot second I actually worried on the way over that I not only had to cook...but had to be sober and cook! Whew. They prep everything for you, so you basically just have to assemble and put in appropriate heating vessel. Even then they have a million students buzzing around checking things, so its basically fool-proof. Except the food processor, I managed to break that. Though, after watching it turn tomatillos into wonderful salsa in mere seconds, I can see why all these chicks want to get married and get a Kitchenaid. Although you know, you can have one and not get married, for the record. A success...and a very fun GNO. Great staff, well organized, private parking and great food. We left stuffed and sauced!
