What a cheeky little candlelit dream at The Pig's Ear in Chelsea! We enjoyed an intimate evening with my closest friends, sharing plates like we owned the place--steak that melted in the mouth, crispy lamb croquettes, and plenty more delicious bites, all washed down with rich red wine. Dessert? Let's just say we didn't hold back and it was worth every indulgent spoonful. The Camelot-inspired ambience with that soft candlelight had us feeling properly spoiled and a little bit naughty. A classic and perfectly type cast English pub. Could be used as a scene for a television show or a movie. Some quirky decorative elements. The deep sea diver at the entrance is unique. The 4 big and matching chandeliers in the room give an air of elegance. The food is yeoman good enough. Bambie enjoyed her fish & chips. My pork was delicious and cooked perfectly. Service folks are engaging, happy and keep the experience fun. Food & drink prices are typical Chelsea establishment high. We ate here the week of the Chelsea flower show. The featured four course menu was priced at 90 quid per person. I passed on that offer. Located on a quiet residential street. If you are driving, you may even find a parking spot (no guarantees). Is this place remarkably better than most well run pubs? IMHO, not particularly. But, I'm an old curmudgeon, it's probable that your happiness here will surpass mine. read more

My sister and I had lunch at The Chelsea Pig today. Apparently they had only been open for a week! The atmosphere was really lovely - beautiful classic furnishings via an alliance with the designer Timothy Oulton. The food was wonderful- as was the service. Similar approach to The Cross Keys, they are actually quite near to one another. However, I think the Pig's Ear is smaller and more laid back gastro-pub. This does not take away from the fact that their food is also phenomenal! You have two choices here; you can dine in the bar area (less comfortable, but with the crowd) or dine in the restaurant part (downstairs or upstairs) where it is more comfortable and quieter. Personally, I prefer the restaurant. The best way to enjoy a bottle of red pinot noir (£25, I wasn't paying!) is with your best friend in a place were you can chat for (what seems) endless hours , get excellent service throughout and have the best steak tartare you've ever had! Even when I have been to Paris and tried it in its country of origin it has not been as excellent as the one in The Pig's Ear. Perfect portion, accompanied by shoe string fries with garlic mayo. This time no greediness only full enjoyment of my main course and the wine. Bliss! I think anything you choose from the menu will be up to standard but in terms of drinks there is a must; have a pint of the Pig's Ear famous traditional ale. Normally, I don't drink ales but there is always an exception to the rule. Slightly bitter and sweet undertones. In short bitter-sweet, like life. read more

This is for Sunday Roast on 31 December. We were seated by the fireplace on the ground floor which was great. The server told us the beef is served rare which was even better. The problem is that when the food arrived the beef was well done and poor quality. The parsnips weren't fully cooked and therefore inedible. We ended up having to send it back. When our food arrived again is was a bit better but the beef was still poor quality. There is much better in the area. The service was okay so this review is totally down to the kitchen being subpar on the day. They probably had their B staff working or perhaps just don't care what they send out. read more

Is it the Vault? Pig's Ear? Doesn't matter: try this place! I feel that the tavern/pub situation in London is a bit over-rated. They seem to be mostly the same. Either you're going because you just want to feel socially acceptable while smoking, or you're looking for a low key evening drinking a pint or six. The food is usually an afterthought. Not this place. i had a lamb kofta plate my first visit and a red wine. Both were great. The lamb was juicy and tender and came with two delicious sauces. I think it may have been the best "greek" inspired dish I've ever had while not being in a Greek restaurant. And although they might be known as a pub, the wine list was impressive. The second time I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, hold the bun. (I know: I'm that guy). And it was delicious! Who would have thought that they knew how to serve it with dill pickles, but they did. And they didn't bat an eye when I asked for it without a bun or with extra pickles. Even more surprising, the bbq sauce was tangy and spicy. With this meal I ordered a cider, which had this light apple tartness that paired fantastically with the pulled pork. In both visits, we were greeted by either a manager or a host. We told to sit where we wanted. We were served quickly. We were offered the wifi code. We never once felt like we couldn't get a server's attention. And each time we asked for something, the staff was accommodating. The one confusing thing is that I think some of the signage outside still says "The Pig's Ear." Regardless of what they call it, as of May 2017, this place is a winner. I highly recommend you giving them your business. read more

The pigs ear is a great place to go for some tasty grub. The restaurant upsatirs serves good food and the pub downstairs is nice for a beer or two. It's a while since I visited here, but I remember it being good. I worked close by and regularly came in for drinks. The pub is by far the best in the area and a great place to have a few winter drinks. I've dined here a few times and the food is very good. The chef was the chef at Bluebird (just around the corner) dining rooms (now closed) and has a good reputation. I'd say this place warrants somewhere between a 3 and a 4. It's 7 out of 10 in my book. The service is friendly and relaxed, the wine list good and food tasty. I'd recommend trying this place. It's much better VFM than Bluebird and better than most of the restaurants in the immediate area. * Warning: this place is very Chelsea and hence extremely bourgois. You are unlikely to come across any ethnicity in this pubs and it will be full of silver spooned youngsters and older Oxbridge graduates. Whereas it is a lovely pub - like many in the Fulham area - the clientele puts me off places like this a little* ** I visited last Saturday and had a mixed experience. The chef has changed, but the food was excellent! I had a bavette (French steak) which was tender, succulent and tasty and washed it down with a lovely Bordeaux. However, the service was awful. The Polisg lady that served us was just plain rude. Looks as though it's going to be great, but be very careful. In both the pub and the restaurant the prices are staggeringly high. The pub bar is very crowded and noisy and has nothing particular to recommend it for anyone other than those looking for a glimpse of celebs. You have to run the gauntlet of smokers on the way in and out. The restaurant is a disgrace. I dined upstairs at a cramped table with a rickety chair. The food was very expensive but not very hot. The wine prices were absurd. The service was slow and slapdash. If the food had been excellent, or even very good, then all might have been forgiven / overlooked. However, it was poorly prepared and the recipes were too focused on style over taste. There are plenty of decent places in London - go elsewhere. read more

I love this place. Their steak tartare is the best in London, and I love the atmosphere in the first floor restaurant - it's almost like dining at home (without the hassle of cooking, washing up, etc etc ). Not the cheapest of places, but again, a real treat! You never come out feeling like you've been ripped ott! Take earplugs on a Friday night (if the sound of braying sloanes hurts your ears)... This is in an out of the way part of Chelsea, with the Albert Bridge at one end of the street and the Kings Road at the other. It's a relaxed sort of place with a good selection of beers, friendly staff and what looks like tasty food. Recommended if you are in the area. If you can call this your local-wow! A quiet, fun and inconspicuous pub with decent food and a resto upstairs. The Pig's Ear is a pub's pub. It's the kind of place every pub strives to be but somehow doesn't quiet measure up to, requiring that little "Je ne sais quoi" that seems to escape them. The Pig's Ear is a place that does great pub and great food at the same time, and weather eating downstairs in the bar, with the hustle and bustle that goes with it, or upstairs in the quieter surrounds of the restaurant the food is still to be enjoyed. I wouldn't necessarily describe the food as amazing, though 9/10 puts it pretty damned close, it is definitely one of the best places to go and eat in this neck of the woods, and not to shake a stick at! read more

For me the Pigs Ear is the perfect pub. The atmosphere is great, the main room is a little more lively and the resteraunt area is a bit quieter. The food and drinks are also very good. After sampling fish and chips all over town I believe theirs is the best. The sticky toffee pudding is also one of our favourites. Here it is the famous Chelsea Pig's Ear. If you haven't heard of it, then you don't know what you have been missing! And most definitely you haven't tasted of the best roasted veal bone marrow in whole London. It's tasty, juicy and sooo DEL-wait-for-it-ICIOUS. If you're in a hurry but still hungry, try the French onion soup, which despite the name, isn't too onion-ish.. Years ago, this place was a grotty back street boozer. Then it was The Front Page - an ace pub all round. When The Front Page expired, there was a sagging feeling that someone would come and bugger the whole thing up beyond all recognition (a la Phene Arms). Mercifully, disaster has been averted and the Pig's Ear is even better than the Front Page ever was. The decor is funky, without trying too hard. High ceilings and tall windows make it an airy place for lunch or dinner or just traditional binge-drinking. The staff are cool, attentive and efficient. The pub serves its own Pig's Ear ale, which is delicious, and there's usually a guest ale. Sadly they have stopped keeping a large jar of dried pigs' ears behind the bar. These used to be a favourite of visiting dogs, the homeless and students after the grant cheque had run out. The food is absolutely first class. All in all, this is a great little pub, full of character and ideal for any sort of meal or just a few beers. read more

Found this spot simply by doing a google map search and trusting some online reviews--not disappointed. We dined with a friend and her parents upstairs and we were delighted by comfortable space (gorgeous breezy evening and we sat by a large open window). My husband can comment about the pub's own ale and the steak tartare (i think he enjoyed them). I had the cod entree (well balanced with cream, brown shrimp, onions and asparagus) and a taste of the fois gras starter. Liked that they paired the fois gras with some rhubarb but our toasts got pretty soggy on the way out to us (not clear why as they were set out alone on the plate). I would love to give this place a 5 star rating but I don't know if it's everyone's cup of tea. My bf and I were wandering the streets of Chelsea and happened upon the Pig's Ear and to my surprise it was perfect for me. The neighborhood feel is great and there were even a few puppies wandering around. Originally we were only stopping for a drink but decided to have the pork board. This was the best decision I made all day!! First of all, I love all things pork and a scotch egg too...YES, PLEASE!!! Everthing on the board was delicious and it actually turned out to be just enough for the two of us without feeling gluttonous. Fantastic food and drink. Sat down here for my first meal ever in the U.K. They had a lunch special- appetizer and meal for £10. The appetizer of sliced beef steak tomatoes with olives was delicious, but I was more concerned when I ordered the half chicken. After an 8.5hr flight I was very much hoping they wouldn't skimp on the meat, and they most certainly DID NOT SKIMP. Oh yeah, it also came with crispy chorizo, a white/butter sauce and cabbage... everything was delicious. Pair that appetizer and half chicken with a Chelsea Blonde on tap and you'll be jumping on Yelp to give them 5 stars as well. read more

One of my favourite pubs in London, hands down. The Pig's Ear more than makes up for its lack of outside space (not even on the street - a residential noise ordinance or something to that effect) with a gorgeous and charming interior. It can get tight in there, but if you go early or late and have a bit of patience, you'll be able to grab a seat. Bar snacks are good (they used to actually have fried pigs ears) and the wine selection is varied if you don't fancy a pint. Best of all, the restaurant is marvelous. There are a few tables downstairs, but reserve in the small dining room upstairs - all windows, mirrors, candles and wood, it's utterly romantic without a hint of isolating stuffiness. The food - British - has never failed to be exceptional...the menu changes often but you'll always recognize a couple of classics. Oh - and tip-top marks to the bread basket. read more

The Steak is AMAZING - I have never seen such a large amount delivered on a plate in any pub / restaurant in london - it was lovely to and EXCELLENT value for money. The Pig's Ear is a French brasserie - bar and restaurant. The restaurant is elegant and inviting but I always prefer the bar - it just fits. With its own Pig's Ear beer and its warm comfortable bar area its a great place to settle in and wait out some bad weather. read more

I had the WORST EXPERIENCE I've EVER had holding an event at the Pig's Ear. Having spent weeks in communication providing our requirements (traditional Thanksgiving Dinner for 30), I called to check that all was ready about six hours before it was due to start. What a lie. Luckily (!) my wife and I arrived 30 minutes before the guests to find wet paint on the stairs wall leading up to the function room (one of our guests was wearing a fur...). We went into the room - which had the windows open and smelt of paint to find staff trying to put up fairy lights over the mirrors: why? because half the lights didn't work. The table layout was not as suggested and agreed so we had to rework the placement. Not all the table settings had all the cutlery. It got worse - the room was really cold and the heating wasn't working. Then we found wet paint on the chairs (lucky that my wife pulled one out to put her bag down). Guests arrived from 7.30pm and were meant to be greeted by canapés. At 8.15pm (the time we were meant to sit down for the main meal), I went into the kitchen to find out where they were. Then they were served. The meal, not surprisingly, was late but that often happens. Our waiter was overwhelmed: I found myself putting the wine on the tables; when we finished dessert, I had to go find him to ask if anybody wanted coffee; unfortunately I'd left it so long that guests started leaving. I made my feelings known at the time (we couldn't change venues at such short notice so I texted the Function Coordinator who'd gone home at 6.00pm). I'm still waiting for a response. In fact in all of this nobody apologized. The main reaction was a shrug of the shoulders and ("it doesn't work - why not? - it's old"). Nobody has contacted me since apart from an automated review app. And we'd told Coordinator back in September that some guests were flying in for the event. Some of the guests did complain of headaches from the fumes the next day but they soon went. Oh, and the toilet upstairs was disgusting (I took a photo) and had no towels despite my asking our attendant for some. I directed guests downstairs instead. The only reason it gets one star is that the food was good: the canapés were excellent (well we were pretty hungry by then), the turkey main tasty and well presented, the apple crumble and custard lapped up. My advice to anybody considering The Pig's Ear for a function? DON'T. read more

I celebrated my 25th Birthday here last night, (a Monday) and I must say that for a relaxing intimate night out, it couldn't get much better. The decor inside is great, log-wood fire, with a funky interior and real ambiance; a real classic Pub feel with a lovely twist. The staff, in particular the two that served us, Rita and Barbra, were friendly and welcoming. Personally, I am a fan of great customer service where you are treat as a normal human, not heavily laundered over, but certainly looked after. I have seen top restaurants get this wrong, Pig's Ear has it spot on. The food and wine was delicious, (I recommend the Sirlion) and came in generous portions. Honestly, I can understand by looking at the price why someone might be turned off, but for the area and the value I received, it was worth it. To top it off, they came out with a Panna cotta dessert with a Birthday message :) A rare 5/5 from me! read more

The Pig's Ear is one of my favourite pubs for dinner and now pretty much the top place I take friends from out of town. Its also a pretty nice place to read the papers on a Sunday but I think the kitchen has an afternoon break so if you come at the wrong time you can't eat. THAT SAID, I love the food and I have found that if you call ahead for a dinner reservation, even the day of, they will make it happen. The first time I came here for dinner with friends I shared the roast chicken dinner for two and loved it. Roast chicken is one of my favourite things and this came on a big wood block with roasties and caesar salad. My friends and I spent so long at the table they needed to move us to another table for a big group and were so nice about it and gave us all limoncellos. The second time the chicken wasn't on the menu (upstairs or downstairs, TRAGEDY) so instead I had the posh fish and chips which is pan fried (not breaded) with mushy peas and giant chips. Fantastic. My dining companion had the steak but said it was average, so maybe take my recommendations instead! The prices are fine for chelsea and I love the food and ambiance so much I feel like its a deal for a nice night out. Wine runs around £20/bottle and up, but that cheaper end of the range is just fine. One thing to note is that the bar dining area is really lively and fun but the upstairs restaurant can be really quiet on a week night. I don't like eating in a room with maybe one other couple/group, personally, so watch out for that and I guess either ask for downstairs or come early enough to grab a table in the bar area. Menus are slightly different upstairs and downstairs but I think prices were the same. Anyway, top notch, I love it, enjoy! read more

Perhaps the most over pretentious place in london. DO NOT GO. Never in 20 years of eating in pubs and bars have I come across such rude and arrogant service. Phil and Grant Mitchell behind the bar were consistently rude and would make you wait to get a drink whilst they stood around chatting to one and other, completely ignoring all around. The food, which might i add was UNCOOKED took 55 minutes to arrive and when after 40 minutes, we questioned as to its whereabouts were told "we don't want your type in here"!!!! Complete shambles, AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Round the corner the delightful Cross Keys is a much safer and better option. read more
