When we went to my pre-trial, the State's Attorney came at me with additional charges that included the possibility of jail time. To make things even more stressful, my trial was scheduled right in the middle of a long-planned family vacation. I was supposed to leave the vacation a day early just to make it back for court. From the day we were notified he died, the law firm was extremely helpful in answering questions for us. We live in New York and were not able to get to Maryland for three weeks due to severe weather conditions. All our calls and emails were promptly and professionally answered, which gave us time to get many things accomplished from home until we were able to travel to Maryland. We asked if they could recommend a good real estate agent, we didn't want to pick one at random. We were told the founder of Adams Law Office, Suren Adams, is also the founder of Adams Realty and they would put us in touch with someone. Soon after, Suren Adams called us about the sale of the house. We asked her to meet us at the house during our visit so we could list the property with her. We had a good discussion, during which she recommended an excellent clean out company and made an appointment for them to meet us at the house to arrange for the clean out. Suren arrived for our appointment with all the necessary paperwork, made some notes about the property and explained the process to us. Honestly, not only were we very impressed, but she seemed so friendly and personable, it was like talking to a friend. We contacted her after the clean out was complete. She hired a contractor to make cosmetic renovations to prepare the house for sale. The house looked amazing! Once we received an offer, she explained the steps required prior to the closing and guided us every step of the way. We felt reassured having a lawyer as a real estate broker to go over all the documents of the sale. Everything was explained in phone calls and emails. Even though we live in another state we had complete peace of mind and total trust and confidence in Suren's handling of the property. Received an apology and a "I am conducting a final review of your draft documents and will have copies of the drafts for your review today." Wow, what a coincidence. I did get them shortly thereafter, along with the bill for the balance of the payment. They did not waste any time generating that! The thing is, the documents were obviously generated by a wills program and there should not have been such a long delay. Moreover, the documents were not complicated. If you are military/retired/entitled to JAG services, go to your JAG office, it will take less time, cost you nothing, and you get the same documents. Due to a recent sizable inheritance, I will need to do a special needs trust and other instruments in the near future but I will be finding a more responsive attorney/firm to handle them.

I was very clear with legal assistant, Alexandra Duca that I had NO desire for a new trust. It was implied that my Trust could be reviewed to determine if updates or modifications were needed. To schedule the consultation appointment there was a $400 non refundable fee paid in advance. Per Ms Duca's request I emailed my trust documents as a PDF to her office for Attorney Smith to review prior the Consultation. Ms Duca confirmed the trust had been received and would be reviewed prior to 2pm consultation with Attorney Smith. To my disappointment I was informed by Attorney Smith during the first few minutes of the consultation that she DOES NOT review ANY documents prepared by another attorney's office due to her liability risk. Attorney Smith's legal assistant should know the attorney's policy on this matter. Alexandra Duca knowingly indicated the trust documents would be reviewed to prepare for the consultation. This was a waste of time and money . The $400 fee can easily be replaced with more money. However my time, I can not replace. I had such great excitement to support a female owned black business. However I am disappointed that there was not even an apology for misleading me. Law Office of Elsa Smith and anyone else reading my comments please use my experience to make wise choices. All the parties involved to include myself have a lesson or two to learn going forward.
