Stopped at this lil gem on my way to Destin. This place exceeded my expectations. Was warmly greeted by the woman handling orders. She explained the whole menu and even pointed out her favorites. I got the fried pork chops, sweet potato soufflé, and collard greens. The pork chop was fried just right and so flavorful. The greens were good but not cooked with meat which we were told beforehand. The sweet potato soufflé was delicious. There was a small seating area, about 12 chairs and clean. Even had outside patio. Gave this place 2 try's. Both very disappointing. 1st time tried broccoli chicken casserole . SUPER SALTY! Not good at all. 9 months later gave it a 2nd try. Fried chicken breast was super dry... chicken and dressing was super dry ( yes had gravy on top) but the shredded chicken! it must have been old. Sweet potato casserole was not sweet... I know if you pick not so sweet potatoes doesn't help but you CAN add more brown sugar... daughter got ranch chicken and Mac n cheese dry and no love put into it. Sad. I loved this place up until recently! I ordered three plates. Each plate had gravy either with the dressing or the rice and for some reason the gravy had this horrible taste I'm not sure if it was spoiled or what. The meat was also undercooked. Since this is one of my favorite places I called them and explained what happened. The lady I spoke with said she would replace the orders. The next day I called her again to get our orders and she stated she didn't know who we spoke with but that she was not replacing our orders and stated that everyone else loves their food and I was the only complaint! The lady's are super sweet here! And they give out good portions of food. But the food was bland and cold. The baked chicken was bland. The Mac n cheese tasted a bit sour. The corn bread was hard. I am writing on behalf of my parents. They have had so many meals and cakes from there. I can even order for them from Canada and they can pick it up. They are 85 and 82. They love it and have never been disappointed. Yesterday I called and ordered the 7 meal senior deal and ordered two waffle and chicken dinners for them tonight. The words from them tonight about the chicken and waffle dinners were "Amazing and OMG!" The senior meals they got looked awesome they said. Wow! Great fried chicken, rolls and green beans. So glad I acted on a whim and stopped. Tucked in the far side of a gas station building they make good use of the small space they have. Menu options rotate and there are a lot of options that I look forward to trying. Fried chicken is a lost art and there just are not any reliable restaurants in the area that have a mouthwatering offering. Minnies Downtown is our go to but their hours are limited. When I mentioned Minnies the cook/owner/operator beamed as she revealed that is her Grandma! So was it exactly like Minnies? Pretty close! read more

Don't be fooled by this hole in the wall establishment. The Chicken Lady's Coop is one of my new favorite southern dining spots. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, this place will keep you coming back for more. The traditional southern style menu changes everyday and keeps you guessing on what you will order next. Having only been there twice, my first meal was fried chicken, Brussel sprouts, macaroni, a roll and a lemonade. For $8 and some change you can't beat that. My second meal there was breakfast. I ended up getting a bacon egg and cheese biscuit. This is one of the best biscuit sandwiches I have ever eaten. The bacon was cooked to perfection. This sandwich and a drink cost just over $4. If I didn't have to worry about my waistline, I would eat here everyday! read more

It's cafeteria style eating so you go through the line and choose your meat and side(s). The people working there are very nice and friendly. The dressing and fried chicken were good but overall the food was very underwhelming. My hamburger steak tasted like there was zero seasoning on it and the rest of the sides tasted bland as well. I drove to The Chicken Lady's Coop hoping they could help me out. They were very accommodating and hooked me up with an 8 piece baked chicken and 4 sides ( I purchased an extra side). Everything was DELICIOUS!!!! We had the baked chicken, turnip greens, sweet potato casserole, dressing, chicken gravy, rolls, cornbread and mac n cheese. I'm prefacing this by stating that I do not believe in trashing small businesses, hence the three star rating and if you're expecting this food to taste similar to sister restaurant Uptown Minnie's it does not! (Please don't make the same mistake I did, thinking that's the case.)The customer service is first rate due to the friendly, warm staff and the ambiance is inviting at Lady's Coop. However, the food I ordered was badly prepared. The sweet potato soufflé, normally a favorite of mine, was so heavily spiced that the flavor was too intense to enjoy it. The cornbread dressing was drenched in chicken stock and tasted extremely salty and had a soggy texture. The macaroni and cheese was remarkably flavorless and the meat for an entrée contained no seasoning or spices at all. I paid $20.00 for this meal, including a 12 oz. can of Coke for $2.25. I was deeply disappointed by the caliber of this meal. Therefore, I cannot in good faith recommend patronizing The Chicken Lady's Coop, but would strongly advise checking out the sister restaurant Uptown Minnie's given the consistency of the quality of the food. read more

I came around 3 o'clock on a Sunday to order food the presentation of the food looked played over and picked through. The fried chicken had been up for awhile the sides I ordered which was Mac and cheese dressing and green beans the only complain I have is the macaroni and the fried chicken was dried out!!!! Dressing was good but either the gravy or dressing had too much bell pepper in it.The macaroni and cheese would have gotten five stars from me had it not been dry and not much cheese was in it .My suggestion to them is keep the food fresh and make sure the presentation is mouth watering!! read more

By far one of the best southern cooked meals I've had in Georgia! The Chicken Lady's Coop food quality is amazing with a great price. I enjoyed the baked chicken, Mac and cheese, and greens. I've never tasted baked chicken as good as the chicken I have had here. It's something special about it and i liked the fact that it wasn't dry. Compliments to the chief! The owner is very nice and friendly. He made sure I enjoyed my meal, and provided me with excellent customer service. The staff was even amazing.
