The scramble dog was pretty soggy. Nothing great. Not horrible but was akin to eating mustard flavored mush.

I was happy with my scramble dog today. Do be warned that their chili is spicy. Customer service was good. I'm not sure if it was the owner or manager but he gave me a free scramble dog to make up for how long it took to get my food because of a communication issue between the kitchen and servers. It wasn't that bad of a wait but he still stepped up and did that even though I didn't say a word of complaint. read more

I didn't expect much from this little gas station BBQ restaurant but man am I glad I tried it! I always get ribs from here. A half rack is $12.99 and totally worth it! You get 6 bones and after two you're pretty full from the meat. It's beefy, tender and juicy! The only thing I wish they did is toss the ribs in the sauce but they come dry with sauce in the side. I always take it home, throw it in a bowl with the sauce and give them a few tosses and voila! Best ribs in town! read more

Here's another novel thought, why don't we take some excellent smoked bar-b-q and put it in a restaurant adjacent to a gas station convenience store. Works for me ( and apparently the line of people behind me). The pork special plate is a steal, a large pile of pulled pork, and two sides for 7.99. The Turkey sandwich was great. The cole slaw and baked beans are what you would expect in a bar-b-q restaurant, but the real clincher was the best homemade peach cobbler in the world. The peach cobbler was so good we bought extra to take with us even though we were stuffed. If you really want to try something really good, give it a try. read more

We were passing through town and came across this delicious spot. To be honest I was skeptical given it is attached to a gas station. But when we walked in, it is an adorable and clean, delicious smelling restaurant where we were greeted with friendly smiles. The food did not disappoint! We had been driving for 7 hours on our way home from Florida and we were BURNT OUT on fast food. We spotted this place and made a knee jerk decision to stop in. Everyone of our picky eater kids not only found something on the menu to try but they devoured it all! My husband and I split the 6 bone ribs and picked off our kids plate. Everything was delicious and customer service was so great. Definitely suggest stopping in here and taking time to try a lot of different plates! Oh and the banana pudding is top notch! read more

Food is great staff is great but owner (Tim Harris) does not give employees tips that are made on credit card purchases. Employees only get cash tips. He said they can quit if they don't like it. Oh it gets worse, I drove all the way there to pick it up on my lunch break for our department so I called back to ask about the food that I paid for but didn't receive. The girl on the phone was very rude and had no regards for customer service or customer satisfaction and when asked about getting money back for what was left out or coming back to pick up the rest of the order she says, " if you feel like it" No apology needed. This place is a little gem, great food, incredible service, and an extremely good value. This and the downtown 13th street bbq are my two favorite bbq spots around. This place though I believe is better 13th st, and their menu is a little more flexible than other bbq joints around the valley area. The best barbecue I've ever had. I've been in Alabama just over a year, and after trying a couple other places have decided this is the best. Smokems BBQ is not only delicious, but also very reasonably priced!! As a first timer in their restaurant I wanted to try the chipped pork sandwich as well as the ribs, and for the sides we ordered French fries and the green beans. The French fries were amazingly delicious, and as for the green beans, they were the best I had ever eaten anywhere!!! The ribs were so darn good as well. The crust on them had just the right amount of spices and the meat easily fell off the bone. The chipped pork sandwich was off the charts delicious with mild sauce. We ended up ordering 2 racks to go as well as another chipped beef sandwich. Finally, the staff provided some of the best customer service I have ever received. I foresee many trips back for either take out or a family dinner!! Excellent job. read more

Wow. Ribs are awesome. Stew is awesome. BBQ Pork is awesome. Even their fries are great. I'm not sure whats up with the negative reviews but they are WRONG!! I have been here multiple times and the BBQ is the best this side of town. It's about time Phenix City gets good BBQ again, all of the older places have just fallen off in quality. This is good old fashioned quality BBQ with great choices in sauces. I recommend the ribs with their sweet sauce... OMG! My only issue with them is you have to make sure your order is right, they need to work on getting orders correct the first time. read more

Great BBQ place. Have had the pork plate, chicken salad sandwich, turkey sandwich and the ribs all of which great. Fries are thin cut fresh cut, same as Country's but thinner, cole slaw and potato salad are homemade, fresh and good. Sides are fresh and not canned. Went here about a year ago enjoyed it thoroughly went about two months ago and was very very disappointed..Tried it again today 3/29/2018 and vowed to NEVER go back.
