We ordered two ribs plates and one baked chicken plate, dressing, collards, yams, and butter beans. Since they had sold out of cornbread we defaulted to a white dinner roll. Then onto the homemade lemonade and sweet tea. Service was great! Authentic and warm to the first time customers, they obviously had regulars who were greeted lovingly by name. All the line servers answered my questions and patiently waited for our selections. We even met "Little Ed" son of the restaurant's namesake, who was so kind! The food delivered nicely spiced ribs, tender, fall-off-the-bone baked chicken and tender collard greens. The prized jewel of Ed's for us was the dressing - wow, just delicious! I mixed mine up with the butter beans for a small protein twist. We were so satisfied that we brought home the yams for a treat later. Summary: The people are friendly and the food is the definition of comfort. They check on us now and then letting us know how long the food will take since they are short on staff and have a couple of large parties before us. We ordered their full rib in dry and the sweet potato brisket waffles. The reason why I don't give them a 5 stars is because their meat seems to be a bit too dry. The brisket on my waffle have to add a lot of maples in order to make them moisture, the good thing about the meal is the meat portion are very generous and flavorful.
