With our main KP medical office in the Long Beach location (which is a lot larger), we seem to stop into the Signal Hill offices when we are in the area to do errands and need to get some preventive medicine done (or do a blood draw, which I would no longer recommend at this site....the phlebotomists tend to gossip with each other while doing their work, making it seem like what they are doing doesn't require their full attention...it caused quite a bit of bruising and pain). We had been reminded that the 2024 flu shots were available now, and that the Signal Hill office were running a walk-in clinic till November. We've found the surface parking to be the right size for the smaller facility, allowing one to find parking. It is a smaller facility, with everything one needs on the first floor. If you have an existing appointment, you can check in via kiosks or wait in a one line queue for the next available registrar. But before you hit the queue, there are signs stating that for the flu clinic, one can walk right into the community room (entrance to the room visible from the queue). It was a bit weird skipping the line and walking in, but we were assured we were doing the right thing. You put your name on a sign-in sheet on a clipboard (old school!), and then have a seat to fill out the consent form. The form did ask for our Kaiser Medical Record Number (MRN), which allowed the nurse to look up our record. After a few minutes, our name was called individually, and we were taken behind some dividers to get our shot. The set-up is identical to the flu clinics that many work places sponsor during flu season for their employees. Since we were here, we asked about the new Covid vaccine. The online system lets you make an appointment, with all nearby KP locations being a week or two out. But the nurse stated that since it wasn't so busy, we could get in line with the reception to make an immediate appointment, so that's what we did. It took a bit longer (the receptionist had to do some magic on her end since the system was telling her the next appointment was a week out), but after we got our appointment changed to immediate, we were able to go back into the community room. We filled out a different consent form, waited a little bit, and had the same nurse administer the vaccine. The whole process took under an hour. Kaiser Signal Hill does a nice job of optimizing the pre-appointment process, actually making you feel that everyone's time is important.

I stand corrected and definitely recommend this location. I don't know any other business that will take the time to call their customers after a rough experience. (But still try to find the girl with the pink crocs, again she's the best) * Went here twice this week once on Saturday once on Monday. Saturdays experience deserves a 5 star. Fast service, kind staff, easy explanations, answers questions honestly. Monday staff... is the B team. Super rude they refused two requested services and when I pushed for a reason why they just ignored me. I know they provide the services I was inquiring about because the Saturday team told me so. Also they confiscated my teal card cause they found out I had medi cal which is fine but I didn't feel comfortable them keeping the card I turned in to them and when I asked for it back they said "you don't need it" which just isn't true I've been without health insurance before so.. definitely recommend going in on a weekend. Don't know the Saturday's staff members name but she wears pink crocs and she's AWESOME. Hopefully you get lucky and have staff willing to communicate with you.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a…read moreseries of severe safety, security, and communication failures that occurred during my stay in Room 103 on the night of July 13th. This experience has completely shattered my sense of security, leaving me feeling entirely vulnerable and unable to sleep. Below is a detailed account of the incident and the systemic failures that followed: Incident Details & Failures Failure #1: Unauthorized Room Entry and False Representation At approximately 11:00 PM on July 13th, an unknown male wearing a yellow smock over scrubs and a face mask entered my room. When I asked who he was, he insisted he was my night nurse. I knew this was incorrect as both of my assigned nurses were female. Despite me telling him to leave, he insisted a second time that he was my nurse. Only after he looked at the whiteboard and saw my actual nurses' names did he say, "Oh, I made a mistake, I'm sorry." He then approached my bed to apologize again. When I asked for his name, he identified himself as A**ad before finally leaving. The shift change was at 7pm. How did he think I was his patient at 11pm? Make it make sense. Failure #2: Complete Lack of Response to Emergency Call Button While this unauthorized man was still in my room, I hit my call button, alerted the operator that a strange man was in my room, and begged her to send help. She promised to send someone, but no one ever came. After the man left, I called a second time. Again, the operator promised to send someone. Again, no one came. Failure #3: Delayed Escalation and Negligence I was forced to hit the call button a third time. The operator informed me that my night nurse, Gina, was back from her break but was on the phone. Out of sheer desperation and fear, I had to threaten to rip the IV out of my hand and walk down to the nurses' station myself just to get someone to take my safety seriously. I also called Security twice to file a report and no one came out to talk to me as of 1:37am. Context of Vulnerability I want to emphasize how incredibly vulnerable I was during this intrusion. I have an IV attached to my left hand and was actively prepping for a colonoscopy the next morning. I had just gotten off the toilet when this man entered. Because of my medical equipment and prep, I was physically unable to run or defend myself. Post-Incident Actions taken Once G**a was alerted, she immediately came to my room, listened to my account, and brought in her nurse manager. Because the Patient Business Office was closed, I left them a voicemail. I also personally contacted Hospital Security to file a formal report. Recognition of Exemplary Staff Despite the systemic failure of the hospital's security and communication systems, I want to formally recognize my care team. Gina has been incredibly helpful, efficient, empathetic, and deeply remorseful about what happened to me. A***a has also been exceptionally sweet, professional, and attentive to all of my needs. They are the only reason I feel any modicum of care here. Request for Action This was a terrifying security breach. A random staff member or intruder was allowed to falsely represent himself, approach my bed, and ignore my demands to leave, while the emergency call system completely failed to protect me. I expect a formal investigation into: Why "Ah**d" was in my room and why he insisted he was my nurse. Why the call button operator failed to dispatch immediate security or staff assistance during an active security threat. What steps are being taken to ensure my safety for the remainder of my stay. I look forward to your prompt response.

May 30, 2018 Today…read morewas my first visit to see the surgeon who is going to perform my fistula surgery. I will have my surgery scheduled once my Cardiologist gives the blessing. I was very tensed up knowing I am going to have another surgery, and I had thought in my own mind what would happen. They told me the veins in my arm are too small for dialysis and they need to make them bigger. I thought they were going to cut my arm open and stick a tube inside the veins. I was freaking out thinking about it. Dr. Vardayo explained the procedure in terms that were easy for us to understand therefore most of my stress was removed. Dr. Vardayo said it is an out patient procedure and I can go to my favorite hospital Los Alamitos. I will get there very early to get prep for the surgery and it should take about an hour. I will go to recovery and then be released. There should be no stitches and it should heal in 2 weeks. They will cut across my inner arm cut the big vien shd connect it to the smaller vein this will allow my blood to pump in and stretch my vein out to allow dialysis when it is time. By me having this done now it will be ready incase an emergency arises and they can do dialysis asap. If I do not do it they would have to go through my neck...that is the worst. I am very happy with all my doctors I currently have as they have been very good in giving me the best health care ever. I am now happy I have premium insurance and all the money I pay every month is so worth it.
