Much to my own surprise I've become a person that looks forward to, and purchases holiday matching pajamas. I know, who knew I'd hit my mid 30s, have kids, and think that would be fun but here we are! This year I let my daughter pick out the design and we ventured outside of our usual brand of hanna andersson to try The Children's Place as they had a bluey design she liked. We ordered them online and they arrived as expected. Except... my husband's was massive. Like comically large on him, so we needed to make an exchange. I loathe doing online exchanges so when I saw there was an in person store here at Oak Park Mall I decided to head over to take care of the return. It was easy enough to find the storefront but when I walked in it was the most chaotic scene I'd ever witness in a retail store. Clothes just jam packed into every nook and cranny, things on the floor because someone bumped into it due to no space to actually move, piles of clothes that should have been folded, and on top of it all an understaffed store with a line nearly out the door and bright fluorescents that just really enhanced the whole situation in the worst possible way. It was honestly a moment that made me really question my decision to purchase from this brand in the first place. Hanna Andersson would never! At any rate, I got in the line and as I was waiting I figured out what the issue was, it was a busy day and there was only one person working who knew how to process returns or do pick up orders, the other two folks really were only trained on a standard transaction. Unfortunately I was not the only one there with a special situation to get worked out. Once I got up to the front of the line I was relieved to find the gal working to be super kind, competent, and trying so hard to get through the long line. I felt for her as for retail, she was really doing a fantastic job. Despite their computer system crashing during the whole ordeal she took care of me, fixed my issue as fast as she could, while managing two folks that needed some hand holding, and trying to keep the whole line feeling taken care of. Someone should give her a raise! Long story short, this isn't a pleasant shopping experience, but the folks working are genuine and do a good job. I'd recommend coming during the week if you can swing it as this weekend visit in November was chaotic at best. read more

I come into the store & can hardly even push my stroller. I go to find jeans for my son but give up & just go with the 3 I have as they are so unorganized & I can't get them back on the shelf after I search for the last pair I needed. I go back to the fitting room & find they are both locked. I have to go look for a worker which finally I find one. She doesn't say anything but just unlocks the door & slips into the back room. She gave my the tiny room although I had a stroller, my 2yr old & my 5yr old with me & no one else was there. The fitting room is worse than a gas station bathroom. How hard is it to sweep??? The cashier didn't even look at me or say anything. I definitely will not go back to the store. The Children's Place has gone down hill tremendously in the recent years. The Oak Park Mall location is a dump! The employees do not engage with the customers at all. They sit there with all counters a chaotic mess talking about themselves. If you ask them a question they seem very put out by this. There are clothes on the floor everywhere and looks as if they never sweep. I am through even considering this place at all and will not support them online either. They are not worthy! Try JC Penneys instead. We did very well there! Berni read more

Went in this past weekend, lots of great sales and great selection. Staff all seemed friendly and knowledgeable

Jessie was very helpful and very knowledgeable about the store also she was patient about all the questions I had.

I've never been to a store that was so chaotic. I'd read the reviews on here about how messy the store was, but didn't realize the severity of the situation until I came in to make a return for an online purchase. Clothes with literally strewn everywhere. Heaping piles of clothes all over the floor. I'm confused as to how this is even possible? Is there zero management? There was no walkway when I came in. I was actually walking on brand new clothing because there was no where for me to step, besides on top of the clothes. read more

I was so disappointed walking into this store. I typically order online but needed to have my daughter try on jeans in the store and I was horrified. The place was not only filthy but clothes were everywhere. In boxes, fallen on to the floor, thrown in the wrong place. The floors were covered in dust, trash and food wrappers. The fitting rooms looked closed off but once I found an employee realized they weren't. Inside the fitting room was filled with discarded clothing and even a used mask. So sad. I will say the person that checked us out was so helpful and sweet. But I will not be going back in to this store. read more

I hate this place SO much. I like their clothing but I do all of my ordering online because this place is the literal worse. If you have to exchange something it's better to just keep it or so a straight return. It's damn near impossible to find anything because the store is always a disaster. The worst part though is the fact that it's so crowded you can't walk around with a stroller. It's a kids store. That makes ZERO sense. There was one employee who offered to go look and see if they had what I wanted to exchange, but of course they didn't. Then I found out that they don't do exchanges. You have to do a return and then a separate transaction which is really cool because if the price of your item goes up you get to pay the difference. Also there were 3 employees behind the counter but only one register was open. That was annoying. read more

This store is a mess, it gives me anxiety just to go in there. It's so crowded you can hardly walk around let alone push a stroller. The employees have zero personality and border on snotty, rude and lazy. read more

I had the worst experience with pick up in store that I've ever had with any retailer. I came to pick up the order the manager had no idea were she placed it after she pulled it. No associate had any clue either so she says I can choose another shirt from the table that was a mountain of shirts. My daughter picked out the shirts online and I told her I'll pay for them now so we can for sure have them but now they have gotten sold and no other stores have them in the area...I was willing to wait a few days but I looks like they are not coming in!
