Chile shop carries Los Chileros and so does five and dime. Los Chileros is a very authentic New Mexican brand of chili products and seasonings, they sell to almost every major New Mexican restaurant. Five and dime uses Los Chileros chili powder for their famous frito pie. It's a very complex chili. The Chile shop's brand of chili powder is so amazing too I'm thankful I bought the 1 lb bag of spice because I made beef adovada at home with that spice and oh my gosh, it literally tastes like I'm in New Mexico and boy is it hot. Very simple store with only new Mexico's best. Kind and helpful staff, very cool store for sure. My only regret is that I didn't stock up enough. The website has a dated feel to it but I feel that's because they focus on the product, not the bells and whistles. We even visited the physical store in Santa Fe on a road trip. I had high hopes for The Chile Shop while visiting Santa Fe and wanted to send my mother a beautiful hanging chile as a gift. When I stopped in, the owner mentioned they had just sold out but said I could place an order and it would ship out soon. I agreed and paid on the spot--however, I was never given any shipping confirmation or tracking information. Weeks went by with no delivery. When I finally called to follow up (nearly a month later), the owner questioned why I waited so long to reach out. I explained I lived in Rhode Island and didn't want to be a bother, assuming there might be a shipping delay. He told me the package was marked as delivered and suggested I check with the neighbors. We had already done that--no one received it. Instead of offering a replacement or refund for $65.95, he said he'd "split it" with me if I wanted to re-order. I was confused--why would I pay again for something I never received? I let him know I'd be disputing the charge through my credit card, and he simply replied, "That's your choice." No tracking, no follow-up, no accountability. Overall, a very disappointing experience and not what I'd expect from a small business known for specialty gifts. Love this little shop in the heart of Santa Fe. Found it by googling a place where I could buy authentic red sauce to take back home. The owner was super helpful and friendly. 2 years ago, we purchased 10 full place settings of the Mimbreno china, designed by Mary Coutler almost 100 years ago. We love the design and the plates are used every day in the El Tovar restaurant on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. The china is expensive, but gorgeous. Lately, we noticed some of the dinner plates and bread plates showed excessive wear and the designs were dissapearing! I approached the owner of the shop and offered to pay 1/2 price to replace the plates, since they were 2 years old already. Instead, she replaced each plate for no charge! Cute little store where you can buy all sorts of touristy chile things. I got green and red chile salsa mixes, and a package of ancho chile. The wife got some famous New Mexican coffee. We liked the store and would return. Maybe you can get the same stuff elsewhere for cheaper, but the experience is fun and the packages have website addresses for future reference so I don't have to go all the way back to Santa Fe. read more

Great stop for those visiting Santa Fe. I'd say the best thing to take home from a visit to Santa Fe would have to be either red or green chile, or both! There are many different things offered here. My girlfriend and I made out of here with a big pouch of the red chile, chile coffee, and a posole packet! YUMMM This is a small shop and thus the staff is able to give the customers plenty of attention. As my girlfriend and I looked though different bags, jars, and packets the staff would tell us how to prepare each, and answered any questions we had. This likely isn't the cheapest place to find chile. It's kind of touristy, and thus, overpriced. But they do have a great selection of chile related items. FYI, not all food items are chile related. They also offer things like blue corn pancake mix and blue core popcorn kernals. If you are at the plaza, or nearby, check this place out!! read more

I had a fab experience - 3 times. Stopped here when I was in Santa Fe. Then purchased some stuff for me online. Then sent some stuff for Christmas gifts. They went out of their way to get a package out for delivery in a short time with no extra charge.
