We attended the 2025 SGJA Judges' Cup. Hosted by EVO Gymnastics. I'm not sure if all competitions do this but for this particular meet, they charged an admission fee which they accepted payment with cash only. Admission Fee (CASH ONLY). Adults: $25.00: Children (4 - 12 yrs): $15.00. The venue was very spacious. It was a bit crowded when we arrived and we went upstairs to observe until my kid's competition start time. If you can snag a seat in the front row upstairs, then you're golden. Otherwise, it can be difficult to see over so many people up there. Just depends on where you're trying to view your child during competition. Once we started, we went downstairs to admit him and then stayed down there to watch. It was a better view down here. Our family stayed upstairs and were able to get front row seats once the first session ended. The kids competed on the floor level with different events such as: floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar. After the competition, they gave out the awards. It was a nice set up for the awards with the balloon arch for decoration and the winner's podiums. Fabulous venue with a nice set up. Our first gymnastics meet was very organized and executed flawlessly. Good times!

My daughter is a competitive gymnast and it is hard to move to a new competitive program. She tried…read moreout multiple places but as soon as she had her evaluation at Flip Zone we knew it was the one. The environment is welcoming, the coaches are supportive and skilled. In our first few months at Flip Zone I have seen my daughter's confidence build and her skills develop in a whole new way. Flip Zone supports not only their strength and technique, but the mental aspect of gymnastics as well. There are several different schedule options and we love the homeschool training program. We drive a long way to get here, but it is worth it. I am excited to watch my daughter grow in this program!

(concerned grandparent)…read more We joined FlipZone Gymnastics because we believed we were investing in a structured, competitive program where our daughter could grow as an athlete. Like many families, we made a major commitment of time, money, and trust based on the information provided to us when we enrolled. Unfortunately, our experience has been extremely frustrating. We have experienced ongoing issues with communication, organization, and transparency. We were given certain expectations regarding team structure, timelines, and opportunities, but later experienced changes that did not align with what we originally understood when making our commitment. One major concern was the communication surrounding team placement and deadlines. We were informed that the cutoff date to join the competition team was May 10, 2026. After that date, additional athletes were still added to the team, which raised concerns about whether the same expectations and policies were being applied consistently to all families who had already committed. The team structure also changed after enrollment, including splitting athletes into different groups with changes to practice schedules and additional costs. Families commit financially and make significant sacrifices based on the information they are given at the time of enrollment, so changes like these should be communicated clearly and handled transparently. In addition, the gym often feels significantly overcrowded, which has impacted training. At times, our team has not had consistent access to the equipment needed during practices due to limited space and multiple groups sharing training areas. This has affected the quality and flow of training sessions and is something families should consider when evaluating the program. We have also been disappointed by how concerns have been handled. Parents should feel comfortable asking questions and advocating for their child while receiving clear communication and professional responses. Before committing to FlipZone, I strongly encourage families to ask detailed questions about: * How team decisions are made * How deadlines and policies are enforced * How changes to teams and schedules are communicated * What additional costs may arise after commitment * How gym space and equipment access are managed * How parent concerns are addressed We love gymnastics and want the best opportunities for our child, but families deserve transparency, organization, and consistency from a competitive program. This review reflects our personal experience and why we believe other parents should do their research and ask detailed questions before making a long-term commitment.

This is the place to go. Our daughter has attended since age of three and four years later she is a State Champion. Ignore the negative reviews here, they are not true or greatly exaggerated. Every class seemed to have new beginners, but no one was really paying attention to whether long-time students were improving. I tried to address this with the front desk and was told someone would call me. After sending an email, I finally got a callback from the director, who asked if my daughter's skills book was up to date. The problem is that most of the time there were substitutes, and substitutes aren't allowed to sign off on skills. So even though she had mastered certain skills, she was missing a signature. The director promised to have the teacher check her and follow up. My daughter was so excited, but when we came back, nothing happened. We even added sticky notes to her book to make it clear, but no teacher looked at it or talked to us. After all that time and money, it felt like no one cared about her progress. As a parent, I feel this gym is more focused on filling classes and collecting tuition than actually helping kids grow. Once we switched to a new gym, after just one class my daughter was placed in Beginner Level 3 -- exactly where she should have been all along. Don't waste your time or money here

Despite those early flame-outs, my daughter loves Taekwando and it's due in no small part to Kelly, Rick, Brooke, and all of their student instructors who are all excellent at what they do. My daughter is engaged, takes her lessons seriously, and has a lot of fun. Every time she advances to the next belt, she takes great pride in her accomplishment and feels as though she genuinely earned it. When she fails to advance, the Trautweins are there for her and help her refocus and get ready for the next testing cycle. Trust me: your child will work for, and earn their belts. This isn't a Taekwando studio where all of the kids automatically advance through the belts until they reach the black belt, are able to list the "accomplishment" on their college applications, and then quit. You'll find places like that up in Lakewood Ranch. If you want your children to learn a martial art and become a better person in general, this is where you will bring them. I do, however, wish the chairs in the observation area were more comfortable. I mean, c'mon! I've spent a lot of time sitting, watching my daughter over the years. How about some recliners, Rick?!
