After sending an email, I finally got a callback from the director, who asked if my daughter's skills book was up to date. The problem is that most of the time there were substitutes, and substitutes aren't allowed to sign off on skills. So even though she had mastered certain skills, she was missing a signature. The director promised to have the teacher check her and follow up. My daughter was so excited, but when we came back, nothing happened. We even added sticky notes to her book to make it clear, but no teacher looked at it or talked to us. After all that time and money, it felt like no one cared about her progress. As a parent, I feel this gym is more focused on filling classes and collecting tuition than actually helping kids grow. Once we switched to a new gym, after just one class my daughter was placed in Beginner Level 3 -- exactly where she should have been all along. Don't waste your time or money here

When i did take my child to the trail class my daughter did not get assisted by the teacher and i was basically the teacher for my daughter while the ACTUAL teacher was busy and focusing all her attention on a white child. It is truly amazing what these youngsters are capable of doing. Not only are they doing many of the typical acts one associates with the circus(tightrope walking, juggling, aerials, unicycle and bicycling feats, high flying on trapezes), but they are incredibly strong. Both the boys and the girls are able to swing from trapeze bars and hold on to other performers who spin and twirl high above the circus floor or catch a performer flying through the air. The boy who pedaled the bike was strong enough to carry 5 other performers who did handstands while in motion. It's a wonderful show put on by school children. Bright costumes and great music! The show is 2 1/2 hours, including a brief intermission.

My children danced at Stage Door for 6 years (first recreationally and then competitively) and…read moreloved it for a long time. But 3 years into dancing for one of their competitive teams, my children were kicked out of the studio with just a month left to go in the season. They were unable to perform at recital, or at their final competition, and 3 months later the studio has still not refunded the money I paid for services unrendered (summer classes, a convention, unused recital costumes etc) and they will not respond to my emails. The reason for dismissing my 1st and 4th graders? I took them to a private lesson at another studio for additional training and the owner didn't like that. Dancers as young as 5-6 years old are made to sign a contract if they want to dance at competitions with the team. Initially I didn't think much of this but by the third year (and as my second daughter was entering the youngest competition team) I started to have concerns about the stifling nature of it. Essentially, I walked into Stage Door with a 4 year old child in 2016, and before I knew it I was locked into some kind of situation where they would be penalized for even looking at other studios . (By the way, I didn't sign the contract last year but they held me to it anyway.) We stayed a couple years longer than we should have because the kids made friends and didn't want to leave them. If it weren't for that we would have left sooner. As things often do, it all worked out for the best. My girls and some of their previous teammates have found a new studio which they absolutely love and I'm confident that this new studio has their best interests at heart. I'm so excited for their future in dance and it's a relief to know they're training with adults who care about them. Stage Door is a large studio that shows well. It's big, offers a lot of class times for young kids and when you aren't yet enmeshed in the dance world you don't see the red flags. I certainly didn't. My advice, if you're looking for a dance studio, is to sit down with the studio owner and really find out what they're all about. Ask questions. Talk to parents of older kids. Talk to the studio owner at length. I probably talked to the studio owner at Stage Door for less than 20 minutes combined in 6 years. At our new studio, I've talked to the studio owner for hours on end and we've only been there a few months. It's night and day. Just do your homework.

Thank you for the detailed explanation, but I have to be honest -- I find this situation unacceptable. Prior to signing up, I made multiple attempts to call and get information, but no one answered the phone. That lack of communication left me with very little guidance, yet I still chose to move forward and register, trusting your studio's reputation. Unfortunately, that trust has only been met with confusion and poor customer service. I wasn't given proper direction from the beginning, and now I'm being told I'm essentially locked into a credit for future classes -- when, based on my experience so far, I have no desire to return unless I choose to. I also want to be transparent that the person representing your studio showed little care or concern during my interactions. That reflects directly on your business, and I'll be sure to share my experience with any parent who may ask for my opinion moving forward. Additionally, I'm not sure why the message keeps being pushed that your summer classes are full or have waitlists and that's why you cannot refund . When you call the recording states your still taking summer students and I actually just went to your website and it still shows summer sign-ups as open and is allowing me to sign up as a new student to all of those classes my daughter was in?!!! With that said, I respectfully decline any credits and do not wish to be locked into your programs. I believe the fair thing would be a full refund, considering the circumstances. I'm a first time mom and very picky about who is with my child while I'm at work during the day. I…read moreused to teach two year olds in preschool and I know how hard it is for an establishment to keep the numbers at the state standards. We have had THE BEST experience with the Goddard School. I enrolled my son in the infant classroom when he was around 9 months old. The growth and learning my child saw within the first month was unbelievable! He was doing baby sign language to tell us he wanted "more" milk, or food before he could even crawl. It was amazing. The dedication each of the teachers has for each child is unlike any other I have ever seen. We stayed with them until he was 1 when we ran into some financial issues. This school is pretty pricey, but it's worth every cent. They worked with me to try and keep us there, and I wish we could have stayed. Unfortunately, I had to take him out for almost a year. It was very sad. Then life went back up again and we were able to take him back to school part time. They remembered his name, my name, my husbands name, and even the cars we drove. Diane and Josh are so super nice, and just overall good people. Ms. Jasmine is too (My son LOVES her). Going back was a relief. I never worried about him being okay, and they always kept the lines of communication open to us. Ms. Liza and Ms. Quinn were amazing and got my son back up to speed in no time. My son is two now and potty training in Ms. Debbie and Ms. Jessica's classroom. They have been nothing but supportive and have always been there to answer any questions I may have in terms of what's normal behavior, how he is advancing, and just to giggle about the silly things he does. He even speaks spanish now too! Every day I receive a report that breaks down the different things they have done that day and what part of development it's for. They also break down how much lunch he ate, how long he napped, and his potty habits. There is even a little section where they write a sweet little moment my child had during the day: "Today (child) had so much fun kicking the soccer ball to his friends! He kept on yelling go team go!" Honestly, it's the best school in the area. I wouldn't dream of taking my child anywhere else. He's excited to go to school. He's excited to learn. He doesn't cry when we get there, he was immediately comfortable when taking him back after the break. I am so thankful for The Goddard School and what they have done for me and my family. All of the teachers there are amazing and so good with each age group. We are lucky to have a school like this!
