Been here for several dinners, lunches and a wedding. The club is beautiful, and service is very good. Food is presented nicely, and the bar has a nice collection of wines and liquors, whatever the party wants. Hors d'oeuvres on the beautiful large patio is wonderful. I don't know anything about the overnight rooms, but you can ask for a tour of the upstairs. There is an outdoor pool. Parking can be valet. This is a nice venue for any occasion. read more

I attended a wedding here for my niece, beautiful venue in the fall. Staff was accommodating and everyone had a wonderful time.

Not being familiar with the area, and few choices close to Chagrin Falls, we stayed here. Sadly, we will not return, nor recommend to anyone we care about do so either. Granted it is beautiful in its own right and the grounds and mature growth are a stunning backdrop to the majestic estate, purely English Tudor is style. Wonderful venue for a days special occasion. Just don't stay there! Without going on a slashing rant, I'll summarize a few of the larger disappointments. Substandard, basic cleanliness such as a moldy shower, stained bed linens including VERY old pillows. We were keenly aware of a heavy, musty environment (even for a 100+ year old building). No apparent housekeeping daily service. To add further insult to injury, having spent a long day of Realestate shopping, arrived back at the Inn at 6:00. We were looking forward to an early dinner before departing very early the next morning. Although the kitchen was bustling, and other guests seated, we were told, via messenger, that the manager said we could not dine at 6:00 as reservations cease at 5:30. When we asked the very young messenger if the manager was kidding that they couldn't seat guests of the hotel at a very reasonable hour, she replied "soooooorrry". Standing there slightly dumbfounded and gobsmacked I stated disbelief in the lack of hospitality, and clarified we would have to turn around and find dinner for ourselves, was met with another heartfelt, "sooooooorrry". I'm sure I must be underestimating how challenging and demanding it must be to run an old grand dame like the Hillbrook, but I'm still saddened to have experienced general management styling so far below this beautiful buildings potential. read more

A BEAUTIFUL romantic getaway! This Tudor mansion couldn't be any prettier. My husband and I stayed here over New Year's Eve, and it really felt like we were transported to a different day and age. I fully expected a coach to pull up in the cobblestone driveway. The lobby was tastefully decorated for Christmas. Our room (Sherwin) was beautifully appointed and HUGE. We had booked a package that included dinner in their dining room. Soooo nice to just walk downstairs for dinner on a cold NYE night. Oddly they don't sell liquor, but you can bring your own wine. Our server was incredibly nice and attentive. Had a magical stay here and would recommend a stay to anyone. It's a beautiful estate in the winter and would like visit in the summer as well. read more

My wife and stayed on Friday night before St Patricks Day as a romantic getaway. This mansion was built in 1921 and part of it actually was brought over from England! The old world charm of this place is amazing! We stayed in the Burke Suite which was terrific. It is very large and and comfy. It also has a very nice and updated bathroom. We enjoyed dinner in their quaint dinning room. I had the Scallops and my wife had the Penne Pasta which we both felt were very good, but . . . . The bread selection they serve was GREAT !!! The staff throughout our stay were friendly and helpful. After dinner we took the 6 minute drive to town to see the falls and their neat shops! Great time, Awesome place, and a Neat area !!! We stayed at the Hillbrook in April 2014. The boiler went out overnight and there was no heat in the room. Apparently they do not have a backup generator! Only found this out the next day when talking to the other guests at breakfast. We woke up in the middle of the night cold and called the front desk twice but no answer! A subsequent call early in AM was answered but were told they were out of heaters! Unfortunately for us there was a wedding reception that night and our room was next to the courtyard where the reception was being held. There was loud music, dancing and talking until 2 AM! Any rooms near the reception should be given to the bridal party and not have other guests subjected to such a disturbance so late at night. The brunch on Sunday was extremely poor and unimaginative...mostly processed breads and little fresh fruit. When we checked out we told them we had no heat and no heater. They apologized for this, but offered no compensation or discount. I asked about a discount and was told that I would need to talk to the manager who was not available at that time. What a shame this beautiful old hotel is being so horribly mismanaged. Multiple messages were left with the manager and I was told he was on vacation and no one else could handle this issue -Really?! Though we received one call back, it was only a message and my repeated messages got no return call, so we finally gave up. Needless to say we would never stay here again. read more

Went here yesterday evening with my boss and a couple colleagues. Built by the founder of Bethlehem Steel, and former Federal Reserve Bank Chair Ed Burke, the location now serves as a bed and breakfast, clubhouse, and pub. The decor is that peculiar meld between American and turn of the century continental tastes. The furnishings recall french-styled British furnishings. We sat in a comfortable lounge sipping wine until dinner was served. Appetizers included polenta, calamari, biscuits, marmalade, shrimp and cheese. I had a rib eye rubbed with an espresso based sauce, medium rare with a house Cabernet Sauvignon. The chef is evidently self-trained, and reasonably creative judging by the osso bucco that some of my neighbours were having. (I totally embarassed myself when I tried to explain what osso bucco was. I should have kept my reservation at the other hotel, but my friends event coordinator told me they had rooms blocked here, so I booked. It is a fine place to stay, but definitely needs improvements. Pros: -Nicely done property, well kept gardens and grounds -Nice staff, pleasant -Kind of funny decor, like a wacky haunted house. Nothing wrong with it, it is pleasant enough -Plenty of parking -Spacious gym with lots of options -7 minute drive to town Cons: -The guy with the leafblower comes blasting by at 9am. I'm from CA so it was 6am for me and it's a terrible sound to wake up to. They should do this kind of loud stuff in the afternoon -No bellboy to help with bags -Continental bkfst, but with mediocre items and highly processed foods: yogurt full of sugar, Kroger-type croissants (you can smell the chemicals in them), half and half in the plastic cups, cereals full of sugar. I had some "homemade granola", but I question if it were really homemade b/c it too, tasted like chemicals. I'd expect something a bit more classy and better quality for 180/night. I just ate the fruit & went to town to find bkfst. - The toiletries smell like Pine Sol -No bathtub in our room -The TV reception is very poor. Kept going out and static - We really coudln't watch a channel for more than 10 mins without it going on the fritz - They want you to pay for the gym per day. I find this insulting and tacky. I think it's 7 or 8 bucks a day. Overall, it is fine if you're in a pinch. Not that I go to Cleveland very often ever, but I would choose not to stay here again, only because it really needs some updating and attention to details. If they improved just a few things, it woudl make all the difference. It is too expensive a price point for what you get. read more

Extremely disappointed with some of the staff here. Rude and unaccommodating. My family spent thousands of dollars here to reserve the entire property for the entire night and the staff tells us we are not allowed to use the pool, back patio or gazebo. The valet staff at the property were rude and very unprofessional towards us the entire time. Not happy with this place considering the money that was spent for this wedding. read more

Just had a wedding and reception here. The staff was VERY rude. Some of the family and friends stayed at the Hillbrook for the night afterwards. The day of the wedding we arrived and nobody was to be found for at least ten minutes. We were in a rush. After we found somebody they claimed all of the rooms were booked. But they were booked by us! We could only get keys for a few of the rooms and all of us were in a rush to get ready for the wedding. There was multiple problems throughout the ENTIRE NIGHT. When multiple situations were taken up multiple times to the manager, the manager did absolutely nothing about it and actually carried on an attitude. The rooms were grimy and way out of date. Nobody - ABSOLUTELY NOBODY should stay here. Worst experience ever. If I could give this zero stars I would. read more

Was at a wedding here last Saturday, Nik and Amber, and it was off the hook. The amenities, ambiance and the way we were treated by the staff was fantastic. Constant attention by the management to make sure we got everything we needed in a beautiful environment. Absolutely Amazing!! We had our wedding here and everyone at Hillbrook worked to give us the best wedding we could imagine. The venue is beautiful, the service was perfect, Gina the coordinator took care of so many details and made sure we were ready for things we did not anticipate. The food was, beyond question, the best I have ever had at a wedding . Every meal was perfectly cooked and service was right on time for all the guests. Also having beautiful suites on site for ourselves and the wedding party was great. I wish that I could give them more stars but will have to settle for posting this review everywhere that I can. read more

We stayed at this lovely inn this weekend. My husband and I needed a little romantic getaway so we took a mini-vacay to Chagrin Falls as an escape from the everyday stress and hustle bustle of life. The lovely Tudor style mansion (circa 1919) is located on acres and acres of beautiful rolling hills. We felt as if we were transported back in time to the Edwardian era English countryside when we walked the grounds. Running throughout the property is a crystal clear stream with little waterfalls that seem to purr rather than roar. The sound is soothing and added even more appeal to a place that is already bursting with charm! Our room was lovely, our bed very comfortable and the staff was beyond nice. The Club at Hillbrook exceeded our expectations. read more

Upon arrival, still in the circular drive way, we were verbally attacked by a server, who then proceeded to bully us the remainder of our stay. His friend the Bartender proceeded to shove our beverages at us short of throwing them, and the waitress was in such a foul mood, we were afraid to trouble her with our Cold and dry Chicken and Steak dinners... the frozen Herb butter did not even melt on the Steak. Besides all of that, every one there must be nose blind to the disgusting musty smell in the Hall way leading to the Bathrooms, And please, if you are not going to replace the crumbling outdoor fountain, remove it. The slimy water is a zest pool and visually disgusting. Paying attention to detail makes you deserving of your $$$ listing. Shame on all of you, and shame on Management for not properly training your staff. What a terrible first and last experience... Please understand that a review is a free tool for your company to correct problems and move forward making the necessary changes to prevent any such things from repeating. You just received a 1 star review on 05.08.2015 and obviously not much has changed in the overall attitude toward service since. We had our wedding at Club at Hillbrook (Chagrin Falls) this July (2013). Hands down, place is beautiful, but we wish we could say something positive about their service... If you are the bride prepare to do everything and do not even think to count or trust on their so called "event coordinator" - Melanie O'Donnell. She was the biggest headache when planning for the big day. 1. First of all, she was not available on our wedding day because she was busy assisting other clients with their rehearsal!! simply unbelievable!! She did not bother to say good bye or ask if we have any questions or requests before she leaves. 2. Me and my bridesmaids ended up (re)decorating the place ourselves, as staff paid zero attention to details and set it up everything messy and without any care. If you hate your job, please quit and do everybody a favor! 3. Melanie messed it up our ceremony music.. she did not know how to operate the ipod.. Music would cut off, better yet she played "here come the bride" when bridesmaid were suppose to enter.. everybody were speechless 4. Front desk personnel is unaware of what is happening around.. they were clueless when asked simple questions 5. We were staying at one of their suites. We requested champagne to be ready and served in the morning. It got "forgotten". Make sure you bring your own water, as you will not find any in the room either. 6. Items gone from our room.. 7. To our BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT... Club of Hillbrook assumed that all our flower decorations, including my BOUQUET, was theirs, and decided to decorate their place after our wedding! This is unacceptable!! You cannot just keep anything that belongs to your clients without their permission!! We had a big party the following day and needed our entire decor right away. When we got up in the morning, again, Melanie was nowhere to be found and front desk look at us like a deer caught in headlights when asked about the decor and flowers... really? It was heartbreaking.... as the flowers were simply gorgeous and I wanted, like most of the brides, to keep my bouquet... Joshua, who is the GM for the place, kept apologizing and did nothing in return, but offered us a free dinner or to come back for our anniversary... Really?!? and why should we go back? to experience a bad service again? Thank, you but.. No, thank you.. And yes, they never reimbursed us for the flowers they managed to keep without our permission. read more

Wonderful venue. The staff is fantastic. My daughter's wedding was held here and I can't compliment them enough. Everything was pure perfection. They followed through with everything they promised, and more. The food was delicious and the place itself looked like something out of a fairy tale. We also stayed there for the night and the rooms were beautiful. Very clean. I cannot even begin to tell you how many compliments we got and are still getting from our guests. We couldn't have picked anywhere else to hold the wedding after we saw The Club at Hillbrook. I would do it all again in a heartbeat. Love them. read more
