We had our monthly golf outing here yesterday. $45 rate for a Saturday was fantastic. The facilities are great and the golf course was in fine shape. So many undulations and moguls lining the fairways and on the greens. I lost 3 sleeves of balls, which isn't at all unusual as I've been known to hit the ball in some very unexpected (and unplanned directions). We play best ball so it goes a lot faster and my teammates really picked me up when I hit to unusual places. The greens, while not all looking in top form, were very puttable and fairly easy to read. And we did have some long putts, some of which fell in the cup. We had 2 putts of 16' or more drop in. Woot! I can't think of any aspect of this experience that wasn't top notch. The staff, everywhere on the course and in the clubhouse were very friendly and accommodating. I look forward to coming back sometime soon. This was a great experience in every way. I did toss my 31-year old Sand Wedge into the lake on #14. It was a beautiful toss and I bid farewell to a club that used to serve me very well. But it was beyond its usefulness. I've held off leaving this review over my last few rounds there, not something I normally do. It's the closest course to my house so naturally it's the course I play the most. The course is much improved over the last few years and generally love the layout. The gentlemen at the clubhouse, believe it's John, is miserable anytime I get there or call to inquire about heading out there. Instead of welcoming you to come play or just being decent. He comes off miserable and like I'm inconveniencing him anytime I get there or call to check availability. It's either "well the course is packed and you won't be able to move quickly" or "we got a lot of rain so I shouldn't even be letting people out" or "the cart has to be in by 8 and it's slow out there so I don't even know how many holes you can get in". I'll take my money to Santee, the courses are nicer, the price is more competitive and the customer service is a mile better. I won't be playing Pine Forest any longer, done giving my money to course that doesn't seem like they want it. read more

Back after 2 years. Other reviews highlight course difficulty and maintenance issues, which I can confirm. We followed a five-some of members, which slowed us down. Greens were in very poor condition. The price is right for golfers who wish to be highly challenged. read more

The Club at Pine Forest - Hole 17 - Golf Near Me - Summerville, South Carolina

Every time we play this course the pace of play is agonizingly slow. I'm talking 5+ hours. Today it was 5 hours and 15 minutes. The greens are in bad shape because players don't fix ball marks and don't pick up their feet. The course is well mowed. The kicker is the price $63 is way to much for that pace of play and those greens. read more

DO NOT EVER AND I MEAN EVER BOOK WITH THIS GOLF COURSE!!!!! my husband and his friend were harassed by the "marshal" not once or twice but FOUR TIMES screaming at them telling them they were too slow, they needed to pick up the pace, making them show him how they golf. for $65 damn dollars, take your golf buddy / wife / friends out for drinks - don't waste your money here. and if you even try to say something to the golf shop, they will refuse to let you talk to management, saying they will listen and handle things and they will always start interrupting you basically telling you how you're in the wrong and they did nothing wrong. they don't even let you talk, they talk and raise their voice over you. if i could give them about a million negative stars, this place would 100% get them! read more

12-24-2021 Played this course today on Christmas Eve morning. Had a first time frost delay experience but the staff was more than helpful with letting all golfers know when things were kicking off. Hostess at the clubhouse was more than kind in catering to all of the early morning requests. For it being the end of December, the grounds keep was solid. Tee boxes slightly soaked from previous rain but all in all a tough/fun course. Couple of sections on cart path need tending to but nothing to complain about like some other reviews. Abundance of water hazards which make the entire game interesting. The best course I've played in the low country so far for the price. Very nice establishment! Will be back for another round soon! What a great golf course. The design and architecture is awesome but the conditions are terrible. I wish they could get it dried out and clean up around the greens a bit. Maybe they should close a day or two a week and let it heal. Where I'm from this course would cost $110-140.00 to play and people would pay it in a second. Forget about discounting the rates, get it in good shape and you can charge what you want. But I'm just visiting the area and figured I'd give my opinion. Good luck it's a great course. Just played there on Sunday Jan 8th 2023. This is difficult because it is an interesting course with some very challenging, fun holes. However, it is in terrible condition, as it is most of the time. The greens are 70% grass 30 % dirt/rolled mud. The areas around the green where you access the cart path are just mud. One fairway had a leak in the sprinkler system and people were still driving on the fairway it looked like a moto cross track.The pace of play was terrible, 2.5 hours for 9 holes and no marshal to speed play up. At $49 it is the biggest rip off I have ever experienced in golf. I should have expected no less. What a waste of a great layout. read more

Toughest course in the area in my opinion. Water on just about every hole. Seems like every green is elevated as well. If the course is cart path only, you are in trouble. The roots of all the trees have destroyed the paths. Way too bumpy. The rough will punish you if your ball is there. Just punch out to the fairway or you will hit a tree and get negative yardage. Hole number 11 has numerous chickens on the left side of the fairway. They make lots of noise and smell terrible. Great practice facility and Bo the pro is the best guy you will meet! read more

I really enjoy this course. If you're afraid of the water, this place may cure you. Lots of water, challenging course, and when you get finished, you want to play it again, because you know you can do better. Keep telling yourself it's not that hard. Employees are friendly and courteous and the clubhouse is very attractive. It's not immaculate, but a nice course for the money. read more

Very very very challenging course. Picturesque. Rolling hills . Water everywhere. Thought I needed a drill to try to get my tee in ground on almost every hole. Cart path ride on path can easily lead to a chiropractor visit. $42 for 18 holes. Pace of play SLOW. Not a ranger in sight.nearly 5 hours for a twosome. Not having played in over a year, I was a little nervous at the warnings issued by reviews elsewhere. "Challenging", "anger management skills required", etc. A $24 special helped sway the decision. Friendly staff, laid back clientele & atmosphere reinforced things. Greens are slow and 1 week after the 1,000-year flood, there were marshy/muddy patches, but didn't significantly interfere with play. Pretty open fairways but most every hole & many tee shots involved water somewhere. Hidden hazards, grass bunkers, hillocks, gullies and pine straw piles punish errant shots. Somehow every approach played longer (upward slopes) and some hole placements were particularly tricky (e.g., at the front downslope of a long green just in front of a pond). I did find a groove today and was rewarded with memorable Par 3s and a birdie on 15. 10 & 12 punished me and in hindsight could have done with some local knowledge - didn't realize till I left the 12th green that I'd just completed "Little Augusta". If you stay straight off the tee and play smartly, you'll experience the boost of satisfactorily conquering a mighty tough course. read more

If you want to play a course with a great layout, tough challenges, undulating greens, friendly service, and great prices (especially in the Charleston area) then make the visit to Pine Forest. The course is always in pretty good condition but the greens are a little slow for my liking. The whole atmosphere is definitely that of a country club...tennis courts on the right, pool area in the middle, driving range along the side of the 9th, full service bar and seating for plenty inside the main middle building and a golf clubhouse to the left. The course wanders through a nice neighborhood with plenty of water hazards and beautiful tall pines. read more

I played Pine Forest this morning for the first time in a while. Just as challenging as I remember, it's probably one of the toughest loops in the area. Greens were slow but we've had a lot of rain lately. Hit it anywhere but the fairway and good luck finding it! Rough is very dense and will eat a golf ball so best to play with a partner or group so you can spot offline shots ( I hate losing a ball 5 yards off the FW!) Staff is polite and their pricing system is great. I paid $32 for a 8:15 tee time. Not the most pristine course around but definitely worth a try. read more
