I expect my fish to be cooked (?!? - yes I've been served uncooked fish) with a good flake to its texture and nice flavour. Everton Seafood is a place we've tried before with mixed results so we thought we'd give them another go. I specifically asked for the food to be well done so that we didn't get limp chips and it seemed to work. The fact that I have to ask this is a little disappointing really. Surely it should be a standard that the food served is cooked properly. What we got was well cooked and crispy as asked. The cod had good texture and flavour. I did find the food a bit oily as though the oil was not quite hot enough or the food needed more draining before serving. What Everton seafood has going for them is good value, $3 of chips, 2 potato cakes/scallops and 2 pieces battered fish was just under $16. It wasn't famous but not bad, and a cut above the other options in our area so far. The hunt continues....

I sent the plate back because it was drowning in Hollandaise sauce. The replacement was almost as bad but after scraping off most of the sauce it was better. I steered well clear of this location for well over 2 years but called in again in Oct 2015 and ordered the corn fritters with bacon and asked for a poached egg to be added. We both received the wrong order, corn fritters with an egg - no bacon.. Once we raised the issue they cooked us some bacon and charged us the extra cost. On our latest visit in Dec 2015 we each ordered a Chicken, Bacon & Basil Pesto Crepe. They were nice but much smaller than the same dish at Sandgate Coffee Club where we were able to share one serve for a light lunch. The serving size at Chermside was significantly smaller and we left, disappointed, in search of more food. All in all the food is ok, but definitely not on par with any other Coffee Club locations that we have visited.

My biggest problem here is that Eftpos is a minimum charge of $10 . Not a good business practice as this place does roaring trade; to have a minimum charge on Eftpos is just unfair to consumer. The Coffee Club can afford to have no minimum charge for Eftpos. So bring cash if you just want coffee.

It is one of the only places in Brisbane that serve turmeric lattes, they sweeten them with honey too. The other two I know of being Vegan Yum in Everton Park and La Pola Cafe in Ashgrove. I love the salads here. They are fresh and a nice change from SumoSalad. The also have some pretty good looking desserts and other nibbles. Oh, and they have a good selection of artisan breads including gluten free sourdoughs. There is a section in the back for buying groceries too. I found some decent vegan mozzarella there. I seem to always find myself here whenever I have an errand to run in Chermside.

In both windows I was greeted with professional and courteous service. The Barista at the second window was chatty and we talked about how great air con was in Brisbane (fact!!). I think the coffee machine could have done with a bit of a clean: the coffee tasted like the machine was a bit dirty, which after the kidlet peak hour rush, is likely to be expected. So we compromised and went halves with a big breakfast and a ham, cheese & tomato omelette. The omelette was light and fluffy with layers of ham, tomato and cheese in the middle. Served with two slices of thick white toast it was a very substantial breakfast. When eaten with the big breakfast it was too much for me to finish. The big breakfast comes with steak, mushrooms, hash brown, three little sausages, roast tomato, bacon, eggs and two thick slices of toast. I prefer my mushrooms cooked and seasoned a bit more but the perfectly runny poached eggs made up for that! The prices at the Coffee Club are up there, but the Entertainment Book has three 25% off vouchers for so don't forget to take it in. If you don't already have one you can order them online and you will get your money back in no time.

Inside can get quite loud with the constant smashing at the coffee machine. Would I return?
