C&F is a good solid cafe for if you live in or around Beecroft or like to be able to buy kid clothes with your big breakfast. The coffee is Gabriel brand, the ingredients are fresh and you'll find all your old cafe favourites like BLAT, hotcakes and ricotta on fruit toast. Prices are pretty standard for the area, around $20-25 per person. Make no mistake, there will be kids so don't go here if you're the cantankerous type. There is a little reading corner, shelves of toys for your kids to pester you into buying and clothes so cute they'll make you want to reproduce.

As a parent I noticed a few things straight away. This place is focused on mum's with kids. The kids menu is nearly as long as the regular menu. They also have a mini bench with mini chairs for mini people (at said bench are pots of pencils that seem to have coloured a great proportion of the wall). The coffee here was great. A little over espressed (and thus a little burnt and bitter), but seriously just a tad (don't forget, I really am a picky bastard). I don't recall having drunk Di Gabriel coffee before, but it was enjoyable. Getting back to the primary focus of this cafe, mums with kids, I am sure they would be happy this cafe uses a range of loose leaf T2 tea. And for the kids, the babychinos expressly come with marshmellows (which more cafes should really do! Some places charge $2 for a small glass of milk!!). Everyone coming in seems to be on a first name basis with Scott, who does a great job on the old espresso machine. The cafe has the same laid back feel Scott brings, with a backing track of smooth jazz. I got the fish (flat head), chips and salad. The wife loved the chicken melt. It came with avocado and sliced tomato. Very filling, very fresh. Did not disappoint in the slightest. My fish and chips were terrific. The fries was cooked to exactly how I like it - hot fluffy potato on the inside and super crunchy on the outside. The battered flat head was amazing, crunchy batter and moist fresh fish inside. This was one of the few times I enjoyed my salad. Tartar was a little runny but tasted great. We had a cappuccino and chai latte. The drinks are big by Australian standards. My chai latte was silky smooth with a rich spicy taste. I'd happily come back here again as the cooks know what they are doing and are very proud of their work. Very chill, very cool. Five out of five!

Today's specialty being a Single Origin filtered Costa Rica La Violeta. The only drawback being a tendency to over flavour the sandwiches, usually appreciated, but always better when done in moderation. Think, the balsamic vinegar applications and the onion jams, both nice but need to be applied with a lighter touch. Otherwise, highly recommended.

It's really small inside and the tables and chairs are pretty close together so you feel a bit squashed and conspicuous. It seems to me that it is more of a meeting place for a coffee and perhaps a treat (of which there are some delicious looking ones) And I don't suppose it claims to be anything else either. Its right there on Fiveways, that great junction in Paddington. So a better location you could not ask for and many of the pre-prepared lunch meals were sold out by the time I got there later on in the afternoon, so clearly it is fairly popular. For all I know it could be legendary with the locals! it was my first visit though and first impressions were 'nice, but nothing too special.'

Gusto also sells a variety of fresh paninis, wraps, and salads that will tickle anyone's taste buds. I would suggest that you try your hardest to get a seat outside to marvel at the harbor views. Also, you're a people-watcher like me, this is the place to do it. People flock to Gusto on a regular basis, so you might find yourself waiting to get a seat. Even so, you can still experience their tasty sandwiches on the go. The servers aren't very approachable or welcoming, but they do their job well.

I think that this place does all the things necessary to be a good cafe- funky interior, great tasting and interesting food, and not just good coffee- but a rotating bean menu. I had the fresh fig and ricotta on toast which was simply delightful. The combo of figs, ricotta, honey, walnuts and mint was a definite winner. And all the rest of the food I saw looked just as tasty. Brilliant coffee too- I just had the house bean (can't remember what it was) but it was great. To add the cherry on the coffee heaven, the food here is fantastic. Now the menus is limited but both my friend and I were ecstatic about our meals. I got the French toast and it was divine. It is a small kitchen, so if it crowded you might have to wait a bit. But that should be expected with any small cafe. What completely won it for me was the friendliness of the staff. A small error was made in my order (which was my fault) and they lady could not be more helpful. I will definitely come here again.
