It's a trailer of sorts and sits next to a snow cone trailer. They have tables and Adirondack chairs that sit in the shade. They're positioned towards the trail, giving you the opportunity to both rest and people-watch. I was on a 40-mile ride and was running out of gas. I was headed back to the Thomas Dixon Observatory and decided to take a break while sipping on a smoothie. They have several smoothie options as well as bowls and toasts. I purchased the Round Bay smoothie, which consisted of banana, chocolate protein, peanut butter, and coconut milk. It was just what I needed to take me home. The bananas are frozen, so it was cold, just thick enough, and tasted like peanut buttery goodness. I sat in the Adirondack chair and sipped without any time frame in mind. I wasn't going to rush myself. The snow cone trailer opened up at noon, and soon the space was kind of packed. That was a popular spot. I guess so, considering it's summer and it was hot out. It might look tiny, but don't misjudge the coffee and other drinks they are making here! I actually went back after my first order to try another beverage, it was that good. I started with a Fall-flavored 'refresher,' though I can't honestly remember the name. But, it was amazing! I was down the strip a few shops for an event, so I popped back to The Big Bean before they closed for their "Not Ready for Winter" coffee concoction. Another winner! I also picked up a couple of biscotti for later. When we did finally get around to trying them, they were incredible! Very hard and crunchy as a biscotti should be, and perfect for soaking up some coffee for dunking. And the flavors are perfect. Other people were ordering their breakfast sandwiches, which honestly looked and smelled incredible... I just didn't have room for food that day. Or, I would have totally ordered one just based off of others' orders alone! The real five-star facet here, though, was the staff. They were very friendly and helpful, despite how busy they were. They still found time for friendly and cheerful banter while ringing everyone up. I don't think team members get enough credit when they go above and beyond, but please take the time to tip or at least acknowledge the fantastic folks here! When I tried to use them at the Severna Park store, I found that they had already been depleted. The employees there looked into it, confirmed there was an issue, and suggested I contact Rise Up customer service. I took pictures and sent the exact card pictures to the email website as directed. Also, it takes them a good minute to respond to an email just an fyi. After reaching out, I was told their records showed a zero balance, but no meaningful explanation or resolution was offered. What makes this especially concerning is that all four cards appeared to have gone from their full value directly to a zero balance, rather than being used gradually for coffee purchases. That seems unusual and left me wondering what happened. I appreciate the helpful staff at the Severna Park location, but I was disappointed that customer service didn't investigate further or offer any assistance. I hope Rise Up reviews its gift card processes and does more to help customers in situations like this. I should add that they suggested for me to go and ask the person I received the gift cards from which was students...I am NOT going around guessing which students/their parents about a past gift cards.
