This organization helped me a lot when I was looking for a university to continue my education after high school. Why am I still thinking about this 10 years later, at 7:18 a.m. in the morning, I have no idea. The website has tools to compare colleges and a range of what to expect should one apply. It can tell you anything from acceptance rates to what one should be getting on their SATs, ACTs, and GPAs and any other three letter mnemonic that should help determine your aptitude and make you feel stupid, if you are not good enough (went through this). All in all, I actually threw out all my decision making and decided to go to a school with a football program and it was a great thing that LSU lost in 3 OTs to UK or else I would have never made the choice. I would give zero stars if I could. I had to reschedule my daughter's test, so I called customer service to ask how to change the date and whether I would receive a refund. I was told clearly that I would receive a full refund and that all I needed to do was go online, rebook the test, and pay again, the refund would be processed afterward. I followed those instructions exactly, but no refund was ever issued. I have now spent weeks going back and forth with customer service trying to resolve with screenshots and proof. If I had been given accurate information from the beginning, I would have made different arrangements and avoided this entire situation. Then came test day. A major roadway was unexpectedly closed, but the closure was not showing up on normal navigation apps. A drive that usually takes about 20 minutes took an hour and a half. We had already planned extra time and arrived as quickly as possible. There were around 50 students affected and arriving late because of the same issue. My daughter was only two minutes past the cutoff, and at first it appeared they were going to let her check in, but ultimately they turned her away. I understand rules exist, but there was an obvious widespread situation affecting many students that was completely outside their control. Between the incorrect refund information and the lack of flexibility on test day, this has been an extremely frustrating experience. $128 dollars down the drain and she still has not been able to take the test, which will be another $68. read more

Dear Yelp, I was convinced by College board that I should retake the SAT to get a higher score and to show to SAT tutoring employers. But it makes no sense for a 40 year old to retake the SAT exam in the first place. 03/3/2026 I cancelled my SAT registration I made yesterday and was told that the $106 I paid to College board will be refunded only $34. I have been teaching AP Drawing since 2007 and AP 2-D Art and Design since 2018. Every year I am reminded of what a sham this business is. I have sent five emails to them since May and have yet to receive any answers to my questions (see photos). They do not even try. I have also called them here and there over the years with other questions (although I try to avoid it as much as possible) and their reps always seemed ignorant of their own AP art submission website and policies. It has always been a pain dealing with them. Right now they appear to be infringing on the legal rights of the New York Times by republishing their articles on their site without prior approval from the NYT. It is so disappointing to see they have a one star average on here, but I would expect nothing more from this company. I spent fifteen years of my life teaching AP and I get nothing from them. They just take money from my students every year and usually give them college credit for the work they do in my class, as they should. However, dealing with them every year is such a headache and every AP teacher and AP coordinator I have worked with would agree. They just do not care. They are a billion dollar business and all they care about is the money. It is so sad. I recommend everyone just go to college if you want to learn at the college level. What the College Board requires of my AP art students is nothing like any of the classes I took in art school. If you join any of the AP Art Facebook groups you will see first hand what a mess it is. When I called to complain about the art submission policy they put in place last summer the rep agreed with me and even told me they had mailed out testing CDs to schools in May 2022. None of the school issued computers our school had even have CD drives anymore. This is just one of many pathetic examples of how they suck, unfortunately. Staff ran me through hoops not allowing me to take my test claiming things like my ID was expired when it wasn't. I was in constant contact with them for months trying to take my exam and would have been able to easily do it with a more competent staff. They finally let me pay to reschedule the exam, which I did, and then the next day told me that I actually wasn't allowed to anymore and would not give me a refund for anything. I need to get in for my AP classes, and I have not used college board before, ever time I went to sign up it told me I already had an account and it would start me over, I even used multiple email. And they don't tell you that you have to print (on paper!) your registration to be admitted. The way that the AP Psychology exam worked out was horrid. It seems like the servers for the students in the class to take the test were not made well at all as only about half the 350,000 students were able to take the test on the planned day. read more

We have tried for weeks to have our son's accounts merged. Apparently, this happens quite often - students having multiple accounts. Their Customer Service is outsourced - the representatives at the call center are of little help, severely limited in their ability to actually resolve your problem. They made promises that the accounts would be merged by X date. Lies, followed by more runaround. It's been an absolute nightmare. No resolution. The owners of College Board should be ashamed for providing this level of costumer service. Hopefully, another vendor will enter this space. read more

Kevin Escobar, the attendant at the site at Fontana High school today March 8th 2025. Last testing room started at 8:30am. 9:10am was the last start time and he would not let my so in for testing. Showed no care and no willing to help. Kevin Escobar obviously going off on a power trip and should not be allowed to work for the College Board. He claimed that the digital ID given by the school district was not valid for my son at this Fontana facility. He did not accept the digital ID. I informed him, my daughter was currently testing at the Riverside Convention center and used the same type digital form of ID. This has placed my son at a huge disadvantage for acceptance into the Universities he applied for. He has placed a dent in my son's career and as a child with disabilities this is the last thing he needed, place more barriers on his future and at a disadvantage. Why is the entire educational system in this country dependent on this incompetent organization? Why can each state department of education run their own tests, report them to universities, etc. ? This is the worst service ever. 1. doesn't report tests on time 2. overrules mental health professionals by denying a kid needed accommodations. I sent an email regarding ID requirements and instead of answering the question, "Mark - Agent ID 441274 The College Board Service Center" informed me that they would not issue a refund. I did not ask for a refund, Mark. I then called and spoke with "Jun", but she spoke so quickly and unclear that I did not get her agent ID. She was a complete moron and kept telling me that my son had to use his passport as an ID. "You a rich American, you have travel, right?" "Use passport, ok". WTF? she hung up on me. I called again and spoke with another person who didn't speak English clearly. She tells me almost verbatim what "Jun" told me. Currently, my high school student's grades are in jeopardy because his teacher assigned something that can only be done on the College Board website. But he can't log into the website, and there is no solution available. College Board won't respond to emails from myself or my child/student. They won't reset a login code. The testing center was unable to connect 6+ childrens school issued chromebooks on 8/24/24 including my chid. Send them home and informed my child they would be issued a new test date. I called the commons board support line on 8/25/24 and was told an issue would be refunded and paid for another test date. This is the first time in my life that I have ever expressed a bad review about any company, institution, anything. I'm currently applying to graduate school, of which colleges need the AP scores in order to accept the application. First, I faxed the form, called to see if the fax was received, and was told to call back in 3-5 business days which is a horrible process because then if the form is not received, it would take ANOTHER 3-5 business days to find out if it is even received. Then to say that it takes 15 days to simply send out the scores is outrageous! That means that you have to wait 5-7 on top of the 15 days to even get it in the mail. On top of it I'm paying 25 dollars to get a score that takes an average of 30 days to even be sent to me. I cannot understand how the scores can't be emailed instead of mailed, which would only save your organization money. Also for students that are applying to colleges, run the risk of not even getting accepted pending that their scores will take about 30 days to be received by the college if they took a test before 2018, which accounts for all the students going to graduate and doctorate school. Clearly your organization does not see the importance of these students education because you archived their scores and made the process so long and frustrating to be apart of. read more

Disgusted and Outraged by the absolute disregard for customer service exhibited by the College Board. To say that I am disappointed by the complete absence of ANY communication from College Board as to the status of my archived scores request would be a gross understatement.  I am 7 weeks into NO COMMUNICATION or update or sense of where this search lies and despite being thrice told verbally (because it surely wasn't communicated in writing) that my paper application request has been received, I am not getting anywhere or any direction with College Board on this. I have called College Board every single week for the last six weeks and have gotten nowhere.  No one who answers the phone, while courteous, has ever been empowered to get me any information whatsoever as to the status of my request. I am not allowed to speak with a manager or supervisor, so there is no one to whom I can escalate this matter so as to get some kind of direction.  This is the single remaining piece of information holding back my application for a Master's Degree in Teaching that I was looking to begin this January 2021.  Every other part of the application has been completed for weeks, except this.  The impact is that I have not wasted more than a month of inaction that could have been funnelled into taking steps towards having to retake the state-mandated stardardized test. read more

The college board refunded our money 2 days before the test. I called to have the location change and they told me the registration window closed. I did register months ago, I only need the location changed. If I could give ZERO stars I absolutely would. What a horrible experience with them!!! I wish colleges would use a different service, they are scammers. I paid for my daughter to take the SATs in December with IEP accommodations because she suffers from debilitating anxiety. She was unable to go into the testing center (too anxious) and I requested a refund and was denied immediately by a "customer service representative" who was clearly in another company and had ZERO empathy for my girl's struggles. I escalated my request and just got an email that they AGAIN denied my refund. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever for them to keep my money... Yes, my daughter didn't take the test, but any expenses that they incurred would have been incurred whether she showed up that day or not. It's criminal! So, I'm essentially paying for services NOT RENDERED! This after paying several hundred dollars in college application fees. I'm thoroughly disgusted. Next complaint is to the BBB. Her test scores are released AFTER the following months test date so she is FORCED to take the next month's test because she's unaware of her test from the previous month do to what they term 'scoring delays' - it's a money making scheme and complete bullshit. I would give zero stars if I could. We registered for the SAT in May for the August testing. Finished and paid and thought we were done. Received a couple of emails that it wasn't finished (although I paid and it said it was done) so assumed it was because the system had us as incomplete for the October registration that we had started but didn't finish. Went back to August and it showed it hadn't been paid and a location hadn't been selected. Funny I went thru the process and even paid and have proof. So now I'm having to register my daughter to take a test 1.5 hours away and I'm fighting for a refund. If a location opens up they will switch me for a fee for $25. No way and I paying for this..... So here is a snippet of my experience with Collegeboard representatives for my archived SAT scores to be sent to a state Department of Education to receive certification for a full time teacher: April: Called to order my archived scores on rush delivery. Was charged, score was never delivered May: Followed up on my April call, score was reordered, delivered in July, to the wrong address. July and August: Reordered the scores and called several times on separate occasions to confirm the details of who it was being sent to. Different agents each had a different story on my records of what I ordered and who it was intended to be sent to. September: Spent over an hour on the phone with a representative to try to clear this up once and for all, she assured me of all of the details regarding who it would be sent to, and how quickly it would arrive. I had thought it was maybe resolved finally. Called the next day, as it turns out, they were intending to send the scores to my old high school instead of the address I had specifically asked several times for the agent to confirm. I am uncertain as to why they would send the scores to my old high school when I have been graduated from there for decades, not to mention that I have specifically asked for one address several times already. This may end up costing me a significant difference in salary, as there is a considerable gap between pay for a substitute teacher and a full time teacher. read more

Right now I am trying to figure out how to give this service a negative. This has to be one of the worse run Educational Services I have come across. There are so many issues, I do not even know where to begin. Here are a few, but there are many others. I call in 3 days in a row and was put on hold each day and stayed on hold for hours. 1 day I just tested how long I would be left on hold and I finally hung up after being on hold for 6 hours. Note, I never did talked to anyone. Secondly, when you try to send in an email question, it ask for a registration number that does not exist. The best part is, you need a registration number to open a case. Lastly, there is a continuous process on the website that constantly logs you out of the portal, so you can never get anything done. SATs have been accepted as a means to help Universities weigh the academic merit and potential of future students. Of course, there is great debate on this, nonetheless, SATs remain a staple in the college admittance process. Given this dynamic, the main problem is that this standardized testing task has been entrusted to an organization that does not really care about the student. It seems efficient collecting of monies is the main goal of The College Board. The College Board does not organize enough staff and/or sites to meet the needs of the population. In a city with 5 large public high schools, there are zero testing sites. We have one each in a nearby town to the north and south, and beyond those two sites, we must travel over 30 miles for a testing site. Obviously, these sites are impacted. How is this acceptable? In these difficult times, my son's SATs have all been canceled, and customer support has failed to provide him with another site for the same day, and further failed in finding him any make-up at all. Customer Service agents for The College Board are like the worst of the customer service agent industry, looking after the interests of the company over the interest of the customer. Problematic indeed that our students are seen as consumers to this product over students trying to navigate their futures. My multiple customer service calls resulted in waiting while I was on hold to be told a circle of useless information, nothing beyond what I could view myself on my son's woefully useless and clunky log-in page. To our problem of getting rescheduled I was only told to wait for an email that never came. read more

Horrible customer service. Was supposed to receive a call back within 48 hours. After a 3 hour wait for a "supervisor" and an extremely rude customer service rep, they disconnected. A call back was the same thing. Their answer was to wait till midnight the night before the test and they'll have an answer then. There is absolutely zero customer service because they falsely believe that since they control the SAT test they can treat customers like trash. Their business model of treating the customer as if they don't matter will inevitably fail and they will have no one to blame but themselves. Very disappointed and angry with College Board Would give 0 stars if I could. I had registered my daughter for the December 2020 SATs and when it came time she was told that she was never registered. I called their customer service and the person could not do anything since he was not sure why the registration never went through but instead re registered her for an March test date and assured me that if she did not need to take it, I would get refunded back as long as I call before the test day. Today I call 2 months in advance to refund and I was told they cannot refund due to their "policy" and that they will send my case to an escalation department for review. Not only are their services incompetent but now I know their customer service agents are liars. If I could I would never use them again. Hopefully whoever reads this will make sure to double check with College Board and maybe far into the future they will have better practices. read more

This is quite possibly the worlds worst organization. They completely internally focused and have horrible customer service. You have to listen to a 5 minute message before they start putting you on hold. When you get through, you can barely understand ANYONE on the other end. When you finally get the rep to understand you, they are not employered to do anything to fix an issue. Everything has to be routed to "another department" but will be the "highest priority". It must be nice to have the SAT monopoly. Their website is NOT well designed or intuitive. Every aspect is designed to sell you more, get your credit card, fight giving you a credit, etc. Today I held on for 5 minutes to get through the initial message only to hear they are not open yet.
