Love the school and it's a great community to be part of. My daughter loves it and the teachers are amazing!

My daughter started at saint johns last year for pre-k and like any other mom I was scared how my daughter was going to adjust. She had Mrs Kelly pat year and I honestly cannot say good enough things about this woman, she was not only a wonderful teacher to my daughter but she sent us photos and videos almost everyday to keep us parents updated with everything going on in class. At dismissal she would always pull me aside to tell me anything that happened with my daughter throughout the day. She would said "it's nothing bad I just thought u would want to know..." she is so kind and nurturing to all the children in her class which was 16:1 with two teachers aids. I don't believe they make teachers like this anymore, she was just beyond wonderful to my daughter and really put my mind at ease knowing she was in good hands with Mrs Kelly! This year for kindergarten my daughter has Mrs Grassi. She is so great as well! She really pushes the kids to be independent and strong minded. She is tough in a sense, she likes things done in a certain way and has high expectations of the children which I like because it keeps my daughter motivated to do more and achieve more. She gives out a good amount of homework & if the child misses a day of school she sends them home the missed class work to be done at the earliest convenience so they don't completely miss out. Mrs Grassi as well as Mrs Kelly also sends us photos and weekly updates/work plans for the kids to our parent portal which I enjoy because I always know what the kids are doing and what to expect in the coming week. I am reading the review below about this poor girl, I took my son out of this place today, and am so happy I did I believed this place was a great school, and believed the principal was great till the past two weeks, my son had the most horrific time in there, he has slight special needs and they knew that but yet they tortured him and us, I can't believe a catholic school would be like this, I was told by so many ppl they only want ur money it's a business they dont care about anymore. My son was bullied at recess and they never believed him, he was made feel horrible, the kids told me as we were leaving today that indeed yes he was bullied, when I called the principal she told me this was not true, also the ist grade teacher put him to the back of the class on his own while telling us he was not on his own and put a cold air thing blowing on him, and there was so much more, the ist grade teacher give out an assignment about continents and marked my son wrong she corrected it by putting pacific where the Atlantic should be OMG, and more fool Me I was paying for this, please stay away from this place, they are liars and have no respect for kids there is a reason these catholic schools are closing. Don't let ur kids be treated like this, my son was pulled out of class one day for how long I don't know and where too I'm not sure because no one would respond to me, and they never let me now any of it until My son told me, he was very distressed, god forgive them read more

I went to this school from Kindergarten through third grade in the 1980's. It was the worst and most traumatic experience of my life. When I was in second grade I was sexually molested by my teacher's husband. As a scared eight year old I later revealed this horror to my parents. The school was then ran by the same principal that is there today. Instead of consoling me and offering me help and actually doing something about this travesty, they totally covered it up and absolutely nothing was done to my teacher even though she was aware of the abuse. To my knowledge she remained a teacher there for quite a number of years afterward. The principal actually came to my house and basically ordered my parents to remove me from the school. Now does that make much sense to you? An innocent 8 year old girl gets molested by a teacher's husband but let's force this child to leave instead of the teacher? So in true Catholic Church style this man's sins were hidden to uphold the reputation of the school. So what did St. John the Baptist School do to me? Well, I an currently in counseling, on medication for depression and anxiety, not Catholic anymore, have lost faith in the Catholic Church and think they are hypocrites, I have major trust issues, and still haven't gotten over my abuse. My abuser is still out there, alive and unpunished. So basically I am strongly recommending that you DO NOT send your child to this horrific school that would cover up a sex crime in order to preserve its reputation and not lose any of its students; except of course the one who was a victim of their extreme negligence and bias. read more
