Decided to try the Color Bar as a walk-in. My daughter had been begging for a haircut for weeks, and she was getting photos taken in two days. They managed to fit us in, though the stylist noted that she was going to have to hurry and might not have time to blow us dry. I showed her a picture of my daughter with her hair freshly cut a year ago so that the stylist knew what we wanted, and also the picture we had used as a reference for the cut last time. Instead of the sweet shoulder-length with bangs cut we wanted, I feel like we walked out with a poor and long version of the Rachel. The layers are super separated, and not even straight across. My baby doesn't look remotely like herself. I appreciate that they fit us in so quickly (I did say I'd be happy to come back at a time that would work better). It took 5.5 hours for highlights (did not include toner), cut, and blowdry. Usually this shouldn't take more than 3 hours to do, and I didn't even get the color I wanted.... After the session I told her the color was not what I wanted, and that she should've used toner to remove the brass. She then responded that "it looks like the picture," then offered to tone it but all I wanted to do was leave. When it was time to pay there was an additional $10 to the bill that wasn't discussed prior. Orginally my stylist said it is so I can come back and get my hair toned, then changed her answer and said the charge was made because I have a lot of hair. I was offended by the lack of transparency and the deception. I'm not sure who did my hair (I have her phone number though) but she also provided awful customer service. She had her airpods in and talking to other people on her phone the entire session. The only thing she managed to get right was the hair cut, which is why I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1. Overall I will not come back to the color bar. I'm sure there are some great colorist there, but the one I had was awful. Her work phone number I used to text her the picture is (305) 431-2939. I was a mess. Months of neglect. I needed a miracle. Not only did they fit me in ASAP, but the color correction appointment left me completely thrilled! I honestly didn't think my hair could be bleached repeatedly and feel this good! Totally worth it. Update:7/2017 I sent two friends here and they had a terrible experience. They arrived to find the appointment system was a mess and they weren't expected. One was drenched at the sink and felt overcharged for having to spend 4 hours for highlights, wash, and cut. Her daughter was also charged more than expected but the color was not what was wanted. Overall, lovely ladies, crappy experience. read more

Horrible. I've been to CB twice now, and the first visit was a real pleasure. Nadia gave me a great cut and the color was prefect. Went back for a touch-up and a trim and another woman did the service. She was horrible! She kept burning my scalp with the dryer. I said "ouch" three times, and on the 4th time I looked at her in the mirror and saw she was laughing. I should have walked out but didn't. Also, I had asked for a very short cut (summer is coming) and she kept taking off 1/4 of an inch and saying "like this?" No matter what I said, she refused to do what I asked. The resulting haircut took 2 hours and it was uneven, would not lay right, and I suspect she did it deliberately. And, by the way, Nadia charged me $100 for this sloppy work. read more

Posting this on behalf of my husband since he doesn't have a Yelp account: After making an appointment here twice, I can say without a doubt that this has to be the most unprofessional salon I have ever had the displeasure of visiting. For my first appointment, the stylist was over 30 minutes late for my haircut. She did a fine job and I figured it was a one off type of thing, so I decided to give them another chance. Several months later, after making another appointment for 11:30, I arrived and was told that Nadia, the stylist, wasn't there yet. After waiting over twenty minutes, I decided to walk out. Being new to the Orlando area, I had gotten my hair done as a quick fix. It was brassy and orange-looking, with an orange chunk in the front that made me look like Rogue. When it came time for a touch-up, I knew I would be going elsewhere. That's when I found The Color Bar Salon. First of all, I called on a Friday two weeks before Christmas, taking my chances as I knew they would probably be busy. Nope. They took me in for the next day, right away!! When I walked in, I was immediately offered coffee or water and shown exactly where the coffee bar is. I had my appointment with Kaela - who is AMAZING. She asked me if I had any pictures, took the time to talk about what I was going for, and offered insight on what I should do to correct all the brassiness. I trusted her immediately and am so glad I did because my hair came out looking incredible. This was the lightest that I have ever gone but Kaela and Fefe (not sure how to spell that) made sure that it wasn't too dramatic and that most of all, it compliments my skin tone and coloring. This was such a huge change for me but I am SO GLAD that I listened!! Best of all...my Rogue piece is gone forever!!! On top of the hair service being amazing, so was the customer service. The salon's owner, Nadia (spelling again lol), was so approachable and SO friendly. Everyone in there was! You can tell that the hairstylists are just like family and help each other out as much as they need. On top of that, I had so much fun laughing and chatting with the girls! My appointment was a little bit longer due to all the work that needed to be done on my hair, but it flew by because of all the fun. They included me in their conversations and it definitely did not feel like I was just a "customer". It felt like I had been going there for years - which I will be! Overall, my experience was AMAZING, I am in love with my hair, and I almost wish my roots would grow out faster so I could go back and see Kaela and the girls again! Save your time and your money! Do not go here. I am a natural blonde and I just wanted a little bit of color correction that was orange from a previous professional. Ariel priced me out at $120-$150. I thought that was a bit much seeing as I just wanted some baby highlights and toner. Like 5 hours later, it costed me $250....I was shocked and I questioned and she said that I had too much hair...My hair is super thin and it was literally $100 more than what she priced me out as. My hair looked beautiful the first day it was done. But, I couldn't even run my fingers through it or even brush it because it felt like I had hair gel in. I washed it thinking it was a product she put in, but after I washed and dried it, it felt like straw and i couldn't even brush it. My hair also turned orange after one wash. The next few days, my hair looked dull and i was embarrassed to even wear it out. I had SO much breakage...I had to cut 10 inches off and the stylist that I went to said that my hair felt like barbie doll hair. The salon is so unprofessional. They were cussing, talking so awful about their clients, and they were even talking about sex and drugs... I'm a 22 year old college student so that doesn't bother me, but I was appalled at how they didn't even know me or even start a conversation with me and they just started talking about such inappropriate stuff. Completely fried my hair and the incompetence is appalling. I was there for 5 hrs as they toned and then stripped the toner off over then re-toned over and over because they could not get the right color. Previously they had done it fine so I did not understand the issue. After being there for 5 hours I was concerned and told them they were overprocessing my hair, they all ganged up on me and made it seem like it was my fault. I. D.o.n.t do hair for a living but know that's not right to process someone's hair that much, especially when it's already thin. Lastly, to top it off, one of the ladies suggests putting bleaching cream on my hair ! When I went home and started drying my hair it started falling out. I came here wanting a simple and quick hair cut. Mostly to trim my splint ends. I thought this place was going to be pretty good since it has a good yelp rating but I was completely wrong. I've never gotten such a bad hair cut in my entire life. I mean I might as well have gone to great clips. The hair stylist I had was super nice but can't cut hair for the life of her. Whoever gave her her license should honestly take it back. She made one side of my hair look kinda decent and completely messed up the other. I came in at the recommendation of a friend and through Yelp reviews. Made an appointment with Kaela for balayage and I absolutely love the end result. I have dark Asian hair that has previously been colored. I had needed color correction and wanted to get a blond balayage. I was worried it wouldnt be light enough, but Kaela is an expert and made it happen! She's experienced with dark Asian hair and told me that it would required another session should I want to go lighter. I eventually will, but I will enjoy the results for now! read more

My cousin has an appointment today at this salon and the following happened when they called her this morning: The people at the color bar called me at 9 and told me that the lady before me changed her mind and wanted a style that would take them longer so they cancelled my appointment. I was like ummm...shouldn't she be the one rescheduling because she's changing her appointment? And the girl says she still wants her appointment-it's her service she's changing. And I responded, but to accommodate her today you're cancelling all other appointments? She goes Nono! Just yours is the issue because you have a big job as well. It'll take you about 4 hours, and hers is about a 5 hr one. Everyone else is about an hour or so. So I ask her for another stylist who could accommodate me? I've been lookout forward to this appointment and set up my work time today according to that appointment. And she says no, we can't really push you on another stylist. "Push" me? Just cancel my appointment. How much were you charging btw? She goes according to your length and the job-starting at 115-120 I said yeah thanks. And hung up They never at least apologized or offered some kind accommodation. Just a too bad so sad. Is this anyway to treat a new client? What a way to retain business! This has got to be one of the most disgusting displays of customer service I have heard. read more

A big NO! I have had two experiences with The Color Bar. The first time I called to book an appointment, I spoke with Kayla. I looked at her Instagram page, liked what I saw, so I booked with her. The day of my appointment, the salon called me in the morning, and asked if I could come in a few hours early because they had cancellations. I agreed. When I arrived at the salon, another stylist greeted me. They moved me over to her because she was slow that morning. I refused and explained that I had liked Kayla's work. Kayla did end of coloring my hair, but they treated me like I was a difficult client. I was happy with the results, so I booked another appointment with Kayla. I booked three weeks in advance. My appointment was this afternoon. I was running a few minutes behind, and I tried numerous time to call the salon, but no one ever answered the phone. I was five minutes late. Kayla was still with a client. I waited about thirty minutes before I said something. Instead of apologizing for running late with her last client, Kayla chastised me for being five minutes late. I cannot believe she treated a customer that way. I guess it didn't matter that she was running thirty+ minutes behind? I walked out. I will NOT be re booking. This salon lacks professionalism and has zero customer service. I have already booked an appointment with Educe. I would rather pay twice as much and deal with professionals. read more

A generous two stars. Let's start with the positives. Everyone working here was friendly, and listened to what I wanted to do with my hair. My stylist took her time coloring my hair, to not miss any spots. Also, they provided me with a drink since the process was long, which was sweet of them. The negative was that I had an appointment scheduled for 12pm, but was not helped until precisely 12:50pm, which I thought was a bit unprofessional. And before starting the process, I specifically told them I do not want to be blonde, and do not want brassy orange hair. And guess what I end up with? Brassy orange blonde hair. I guess this salon isn't meant for everyone, I do not recommend this place if you have Asian hair, or extremely dark hair. I really feel like I wasted $150 down the drain. read more

I've been blonde for over a year now and have been looking to switch things up and add some strawberry red to my hair. I went in and showed Kaela 3 photos of the general color I wanted. She spent a lot of time putting thought into what colors to mix and what would look best with my skin tone. After deciding, she offered me water and proceeded to tell me about the variety of treatments Color Bar has to offer. She was never pushy, but rather very informative, helping me to select one that was right for my hair. She checked on me constantly while the dye worked its magic. I decided to do the KeraGlaze treatment and buy the Perfection Mask for home. Also, I had Olaplex added to my dye. When I finished, my hair felt and looked better than I can ever remember. I loved the color while my hair was wet so I knew I'd love it even more dry. I was right. She took time to blow dry my hair straight and straighten it as well. Then they told her they were putting a toner on her hair and asked if she wanted her hair dried. She got charged $195 before tip. That didn't even include a cut. I would not recommend this salon. My daughter's hair was damaged. . She wanted blonde with the strawberry copper highlights and ended up with all orange hair ,it is horrible . My college daughter came back the first week to have it corrected and the OWNER was extremely rude and not Cooperative. We had to go someplace else to have it fixed and pay full price. If I could post the text and the conversation that this unprofessional woman had with myself and my daughter I would. Stay clear.
